So they will let me have a private reception 2nd sitting at Bota Fogo BUT they have indicated the DJ is mandatory. As result it's going to cost - $1700 USD. Did they indicate the same to either of you? This is hugely frustrating as I was planning on bringing my Ipod for the music.

Ceremony location -we picked the beach...I realize it's not private but I have my heart set on getting married on the beach.

Hey all-

1st to MrsV we are getting married at the gazebo at 4pm on the 5th you are welcome to join us if you want. We will be at the resort welcoming guests or at the pool bar on the 4th. When you arrive leave me a message at the desk or have them call my room. It is cool that we will be there the same time. My friends are tons of fun so you are welcome to join our dinner as well, I'll private send you my email and if you want to be on the guest list let me know.

2nd yes to the last post on the DJ and private dinner go together for $1700. I decided to go semi-private as we are going to have 55 guests and I really dont think it is worth the extra money for a private event when the dinner is the same and included. Our group will take over the main part of the restaurant and that is fine with me. We are going to have the semi-private set up at the lobby bar and hire the mariachi band for 45min session to play prior to dinner.

3rd Here is the FAQ attachment they sent, it covers lots of the questions people have asked previously. Hope it helps.

4th I will keep you all posted after the wedding and let you know how it goes.

happy planning-

Jaime

I can't wait to see your pictures! Please post the TTD pics from that hotel's photographer....(just so I can kick myself in the ASS for not hiring him for that)

How much will he be charging?

Is anyone getting married at noonhuh.gif I think the only time slot they have at the Riu is from 11 to 12. I think it should be fine, but I just don't know how flexible they are with the reception times. Any info??

Hey girls-

Regarding the TTD pictures, I actually won't be hiring the photographer from the resort b/c my man's mom and one of his friends are both photographers (not professional but excellent with all the good gear and stuff). Lucky me, they are planning to take lots of pics and the TTD pics the day after.

Flexibility with the reception is questionable...they are flexible if you have a group of 27 or less, or 100 or more. If you are in between the choices are very limited, and you have to eat at 8:45pm. So make sure to ask before you decide to have a 12pm wedding (depending on your group size). You may have a very long wait if not.

I think everything is planned now for me and I will be leaving on Feb 1st YIPPEE! I can't wait to get there and get married! Pictures to come but they will not be here until late Feb early March as we are extending the honeymoon :)

Take Care all and best wishes planning-

Jaime

Hello,

I am looking into staying at Riu RM Palace - it looks great and the prices seem pretty good compared to some of the places I have been looking at. But the lack of choices for reception dinner and the timing for the dinners are frustrating me. have any of you looked into doing a reception dinner off site? Maybe in town on 5th Ave? I'm just about to start looking into that...although that will probably just boost the price up...

We are hoping to have the wedding early Dec 09...so am getting anxious to get a location picked and booked! :P

    • Hey Ladies, I’m planning my wedding for October 2020 and we have narrowed it down to the Now Jade or Royalton Riviera Maya. We are expecting about 50-60 people and want a private reception. We are coming from BC, Canada.  Reading through the forums on here has been super helpful so far!  Something that’s been a bit hard in planning is figuring out all the hidden fees that add up on top of your basic wedding package.  Any tips or advice? Thanks!

    • My parents divorced quite recently, just few years ago after being rather unhappily married for 26 years. My mom caught him cheating. I got engaged a few months ago and a month later with little notice my father married the woman who he was with when my mom caught him. I live in a different country so only met her and her family a few times, they were very nice to me, my father is very happy. I am polite / neutral with her. On the contrary my mom is not doing great at all, she is still in a complete breakdown and a month after engagement she made a scene that she does not want my father at my wedding and hang up on me. When she found out i speak to his new partner she refused to talk to me ever again. It’s been a couple of month now, i tried to reach out but she blocked me. My mom is not really a very reasonable type, i try to take care of her and cheer her up but I cant just sit and talk to her peacefully, it is always a drama when it comes to my father. My grandparents are on her side. I mentioned to my father that i will not be inviting his wife as i don’t feel comfortable making the whole situation much worse and also because i really dont know her well to which he said that he may not be coming then. What do I do about it? It looks like it maybe the case that neither of my parents will come or if my father comes with his wife i may never be able to fix the relationship with my mother....
    • I'm so excited to finally, after 9 years, getting married again!  He's so amazing and we want to have an amazing wedding in Jamaica next year.  Allow me to introduce myself:  I am Katherine,  his grandchildren will call me KitKat! who is marrying a minister that truly leaves me speechless at times the way he loves and cares for me.  Professionally, I am a destination wedding planner/travel agent/award-winning floral designer, so this wedding will be my ENCORE.  Last night, we started out with 50 guests, relatively the larger size of most destination weddings.  Then our guest list grew to 100.  Right! My team right now, does have a contact in Jamaica, that I'm already working with. We are working on the budget, constantly.  The plan is to have all of the details together before Thanksgiving holiday, so that family and friends can prepare to start booking.
