How old were you when you got engaged?

I was 24 almost 25 when Michael proposed to me. I think that every couple is different though, and personal maturity and love are more important than age in deciding when to marry. My parents were married at 20 and 22 and they had me when my mom was 21. They are the most inlove couple I know, still super cute with one another and have an amazing marriage after being together for over 26 years. You can be 21 and be perfectly ready for marriage, while others in their 30's are still imature and most definitely not ready to be anyone's spouse.

I heard you comment before about how "old" you are. Then I saw your pictures & wondered what you were talking about. So I started thinking that maybe you consider 30 to be old. Honestly, you could pass for so much younger.

atleast I don't have to feel so inadequate now. You seem so established & I keep thinking, "geez, becks already has this great house at 30 & I'm still living in an apartment with an imaginary ferret."

OK, to answer the question, I was 3 weeks short of 26, so I went ahead and picked the 26-30 box instead of 22-25. Now that we are married, I'm a few weeks short of 27. Mike is 27. We started dating when I was 22. I knew he was the guy I wanted to marry, but I'm glad we waited. I've always been 18 going on 40, but at 27ish I do feel more like an adult & truely ready for the committment of marriage. By 18 going on 40 I mean that in high school I was fascinated by retirement savings. So it's not like I wasn't responsible, but I really am solid in who I am now.

I was 24 when we got engaged and 26 when we got married... he is 5 years older than me....We dated 3 years prior to getting engaged. Everyone is different but that was perfect timing for us. One of my best friends got married right out of high school and is now going thru a divorce. What you want at 18 or even 21 might not be the same when your older.

I was 32 when we got engaged and will be 33 when we get married. He is one year older.

It took me a long to find the right one but I have a feeling it's a new york thing. Lot's of my friend's outside of NYC tend to find that right guy much sooner.

There are a lot of FROGS in NY!!!!!!!

28... dated since 19 tim is only 2 months older than me.

i'll be 29 when we get married (30 2 months later) and tim will be 30 the friday before our wedding.

if tim and i had gotten married at 20 or 21 we would be divorced by now! we both needed to grow up and we are much better off having waited... what's the rush!?!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
