I think going through a TA is a great choice for a few reasons: They are the point of contact for your guests. They can research and find them the best rates available, customize the trip, and best of all, if there is a problem, your guest can call the TA and not make it your problem (For example, if their flight gets cancelled, your TA can fix it). Our TA is compiling an excel spreadsheet of all of the dates our guests are travelling, and she will give this to us so we know when we can expect everyone.

In order to get the free cocktail hour or reception, you HAVE to sign a group contract directly with Moon Palace. (That means people who book on Travelocity aren't part of the group). I'll see if I can attach the group rates I received from the resort.

You can still use a TA if you do this. The hotel gives the TA a link and group # to book through. My TA says it is a wonderful option, not only for the free perks, but because all of your guests will get booked on the same side of the resort (There are over 2,000 rooms so it's gotta be huge). They will also be recognized as a "wedding group" and *might* get some free room upgrades.
They expect you to pay for you and your fiance's room in order to secure a block of rooms! Hope this helps!
Evtalbot~ Hi thank you for clearing that up for me...I wasn't exactly sure how it worked and just wanted to make sure before I make a final decision. I was thinking about going through a TA only because it makes life much easier!

That is great that your TA is putting together an excel sheet for you..That makes it easier to see who is coming when and so forth! Good luck to you and thank you so much~~

Hi New Bride!

We just returned from our magical wedding!!

Sorry that I did not receive your post until after you arrived.

Party Hopper - is usually arranged through your vacation rep i.e. Signature Tours (was ours)
Meridith arranged the night for us and catered it to our needs!

Such an amazing night - in bed at 6am - AMAZING!

Wishing you all the best

Hi

Lounge set-up was through DecoCancun

I worked with Also - he was very accomodating! We tossed a few emails back and forth until we were happy with our selections and the cost.

We spent about $895 - totally worth it!!!

All the best

will there be a wedding at the chapel gazebo during your cocktail at the chapel garden? I am interested cause i am booked for a wedding in the chapel gazebo and i would like a cocktail hour in the chapel garden as well. I'm just hoping no one else is getting marrie during our cocktail party =)

thanks!!!
Hi

I just notified my WC - Kalena right away and booked them a room so that the hotel did not have any issues with it.

We were able to secure the Chapel Gazebo (nicest one there) it was magical. We had a cocktail reception to follow in th garden then a full reception on Terrace Venado.

There is an expense for this but well worth it! Our day was truly magical and our guests can't say enough good things!

We lucked out with only 1 other wedding on our day - January is a slower time, whereas the spring-summer months there are a lot of weddings each day. Only saw 'sunnybride' in the salon - we nevered crossed paths after that - so we felt like the ojly wedding!

I would suggest that you pre-reserve as much as you can with your WC - being ahead of schedule is truly how you will get what you are hoping for.

Best of Luck - MP is amazing and you will not be disappointed

All of you Moon Palace brides are going to love your wedding! The resort grounds are amazing, the rooms are the best I have ever stayed in, and there is so much to do. I just checked out the virtual tour and didn't even know there was a mini golf area... the grounds are HUGE!

Yea! I finally finished reading all 166 pages of this thread! What great people. I am very excited about the big day and I think I have a good grasp on everything after reading the posts. I do have one concern however, my FL coordinator was also Yudelka and I never would have known about her leaving if I hadn't sent an email and received a reply stating the address was no longer valid. I saw that one other person has already been reassigned. Anyone else? I should have been assigned a Palace WC as I'm within my 3 months but haven't heard from them either. Do most of you get better responses with calling? I don't think I have too many questions but I definitely want to make contact. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

And, thanks to all of you newlyweds that have taken time to post your reviews and pics I have gotten a lot of great ideas!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
