I would give yourself about three months notice to get everything situated for the WC as well as if you are doing OOT bags. Or if you are having seating charts at the reception. Just depends on how much time ahead you think you will need to get things organized.

Also depends on if you are booking as a group or anything... so whether you TA needs them by a certain time to get a specific rate.

My wedding is November 7, 2008 and am working on my invitations right now. We put the RSVP date as August 15. We have some immediate family and friends booked so far, and I know my other immediate family will be booking soon. However, there is extended family that I haven't heard from since we sent the STDs out in October. I want to know exactly how many people are coming so we know how much the wedding is going to cost and order enough OOT bags etc.

My wedding is June 28, 2008 we sent out our invitations 6 months prior to the wedding(1st week of Jan.) to give people enought time to figure out if they could make it. The RSVP due date was Feb. 15 about 6 weeks after folks should have received the invites.

My RSVP was two months prior to our wedding, its helpful to have as much time as possible to final all loose ends.

we sent STDs 5 months in advance with a preliminary rsvp due by april 1, 08 so we would have a good idea who to expect (thank goodness we did, we have some people who said yes that we definitely thought would say no, but we are so happy they are able to come), just ordered our formal invitations yesterday, will send invitations out may 10 with a june 28 rsvp date for our aug 9th wedding.

My wedding is April 11th, and I had my RSVP for Feb. 1st. My reasoning was that when people didn't respond, I had two weeks to call people prior to the 45 day window that counts typically have to be in or final payments have to be made to the travel agent.
Of course, with that said, I have about 1/3 of my RSVPs which STILL have not been returned. lousy waste of postage.
