Whoa, lots to catch up on. Jess, I'll be emailing you, wow!!

Hi Averie! I'm getting married the 10th of October! I'll fill you in when we get back. Welcome to the board, it's amazing what you find out on here, I would have been lost without it!

Just never thought we'd get married there!! We are also timeshare/members there.... which should help our family/close friends out who might otherwise not be able to afford it. Nevertheless, we are getting some resistance from family members. Grr  :)

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and ask:

Is there anyone on here getting married at the Royal Playa next Oct 2011? Or has anyone on here gotten married in Oct of a previous year? Just wondering about the weather during that time of year...

I haven't read this entire thread yet, but I will....

    then I'll have more questions!

    :) Thanks!

Nice move, I thought about doing the same thing and wish I would have!!!

As far as I know the only other one that includes a minister if if you do the Catholic one at the Royal in Cancun...

Also, I just reserved my DJ the other day and DJ Doremixx is who is being reserved for us....we just said we wanted the DJ and as far as I know he is the "house DJ"

Hey I have a recommendation from Lady Di, PM me and I'll send it to you!

What do any of you know about Maria Maria? I want some kind of rehearsal but think it's TOTAL BS to have to pay extra, UGH! I have some more questions if any of you can help me out. :)

Do we have to provide them with a script for the ceremony? Are you all having your BM's and GM's stand the whole time (not that it's very long anyways) or are you providing them chairs?

We have a violinist playing during the ceremony, do I tell them what songs I want (especially down the aisle) or do they just play what they play?

Thanks ladies. I'm 3 weeks out and going a little NUTS!

You can change the script in either ceremony, however it would have to be very short in the legal one and without mention of God. In the symbolic one, you can bring your own script, however they do have scripts handy for both civil and symbolic...this stupid thing won't let me attach right now, so i'll just paste:

      CIVIL MARRIAGE

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, WE ARE GATHERED HERE TODAY TO JOIN THIS MAN AND THIS WOMEN IN THE BOND OF MATRIMONY WICH IS A HONORABLE STATUS. WE ARE HERE IN THE PRESENCE OF YOUR WITNESSES AND THOSE CLOSE TO YOU, TO AFIRM YOUR LOVE AND DEVOTION TO ONE TO ANOTHER.

YOU _______AND YOU ______ ARE ENTERING INTO A UNION THAT IS THE MOST CLOSED AND INTIMATED ONE. IT IS THE MOST  PRECIOUSRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE.

FROM NOW ON YOUR LIVES WILL BE GREATLY AFFECTED. WITH THESE VOWS YOU WILL ACCEPT A GREAT RESPONSABILITY, TRUSTING ONE TO ANOTHER YOUR SUCCESS AND THE HAPINESS OF YOUR FUTURE TOGETHER.

A GREAT MEXICAN PHILOSOPHER OF THE PAST CENTURY, MR. MELCHOR OCAMPO, WROTE IN HIS LEGENDARY EPISTOL THE FOLLOWING WORDS:

“MARRIAGE, IS THE ONLY LEGAL AND MORAL WAY TO FOUND THE FAMILY, TO PRESERVE MANKIND AND TO AVOID THE IMPERFECTIONS OF HUMAN BEINGS, WHO ARE ABLE TO GET THE PERFECTION OF THE HUMAN RACE IN THE CONYUGAL DUALITY.

MARRIED PEOPLE SHOULD BE AND WILL BE SACRED ONE TO EACH OTHER, MORE THAN TO THEMSELVES.

MAN AND WOMAN, HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS, BUT THEIR RESPECTIVE OBLIGATIONS.

BOTH OF YOU SHOULD HAVE AND WILL HAVE: RESPECT, FIDELITY, TRUST, TENDERNESS AND LOVE, MUCH LOVE.

DO NOT FIGHT ONE TO ANOTHER, USE YOUR HEAD AND YOUR HEART INSTEAD OF YOUR HANDS TO CORRECT ANYTHING WRONG.

BOTH OF YOU SHOULD BE AWARE ON THE GREAT RESPONSABILITY OF BEING PARENTS OF FAMILY, BECAUSE YOU SHOULD PROVIDE YOUR CHILDREN WITH ATTENTION, GOOD EXAMPLE, EDUCATION, RESPECT, FOOD AND LOVE. THEY SHOULD SEE IN YOU A WORTHY EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW DURING THE REST OF THEIR EXISTENCE.

FOR ALL THESE REASONS AND IN THE PRESENCE OF YOUR WITNESSES, I ASK YOU:

________, DO YOU TAKE THIS WOMAN TO BEYOUR LOVED AND WEDDED WIFE, TO LIVE TOGETHER IN THE ORDINANCE AND STATE OF MATRIMONY, TO HONOR AND LOVE HER, IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH, FOR SAKE OF ALL OTHERS AND KEEPING ONLY ONTO HER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVE?

_______, DO YOU TAKE THIS MAN TO BE YOUR LOVED AND WEDDED HUSBAND, TO LIVE TOGETHER IN THE ORDINANCE AND STATE OF MATRIMONY, TO HONOR AND LOVE HIM, IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH, FOR SAKE OF ALL OTHERS AND KEEPING ONLY ONTO HIM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVE?

      CONGRATULATIONS.

      I WISH YOU HAPPINESS FOREVER.

      YOU MAY KISS YOUR WIFE.

      and for symbolic:

      ***************************************************************

My wedding party will stand the whole time.

These are the responses I got from Elsa (WC) about the soloist:

      2. do we get to pick what they play? NO, each musician has his own repertoire and all play NOT ALWAYS THE SAME. WHAT IS TRADITIONAL HOW: THE CANNON IN D MAJOR OR WEDDING MARCH play it BUT ALL ELSE IS THE FREE WILL OF THE MUSICIAN IN QUESTION, OBVIOUSLY ROMANTIC MUSIC AND QUIET

      3. is there a list of music they know how to play?

THE SAME ANSWER WITH THE QUESTION  # 2

I was wondering the same. I hear this florist is good: http://www.mayadisenofloral.com.mx/ . Who are you using/thinking of using, Jenny?

In 2008 I got 1 day of rain and a little over overcast and one perfect day (m-f). Last year I think I got 2-3 days of rain, however it only lasts a couple of hours and then beautiful perfect sunshine. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though because the rain clears quickly and it is a lot less expensive (and obviously will be for your guests). The only thing I don't like is the pools are really cold at that time of year if they are not heated (and they aren't at the Royal)- I will be dealing with this because I'm having mine in November this year, but the price really outweighs everything else and like i said, the rain is fleeting.

            I hope this helps!

this does help a lot! thank you!!

i dont mind if it rains actually.. i just dont want there to be a hurricane and for everyone to be stuck at their airports.. not able to fly haha. i'm thinking worst case scenario. but ya i've been there in august before too and it did rain but briefly and there were no major hurricanes.

I had the same question I think Lady Di used them, but you can't view anything on their website. I wanted to use an outside vendor and have someone pick them up too but my WC isn't getting back to me :'(

How do I find out his prices? Also, how do we get them on to the resort without them charging a fee? Do they say anything about that? I'm sure I can have someone meet him the day of if need be.

                      Thanks!!
