Yes, I think someone wrote last week or so that you can have your own vows and sand ceremony for symbolic.

Thanks so much! this was a huge help! it seems like it is going to go so fast though doesn't it?

And I have in writing from Zulma that we could do a sand ceremony with a legal civil wedding as long as we don't have our own vows uggghhh. Making sure to bring that one down.

i'm so glad to hear that angie has been responsive! i e-mailed her a list of questions just a while ago, so i'm hoping to hear back from her super soon!

thanks for the advice on the flowers. i'm hoping for calla lilies but have another bouquet picked out in case they're not an option. i'll be satisfied as long as i can have orange and yellow flowers, so i know i'll be just fine.

Yeah lol, it seems about 5 min long (but I guess it would feel that way regardless heh)

BTW, I'm getting married in November now (day before Thanksgiving); after almost changing resorts, and going over pricing, we decided to stay. November was almost HALF the accomodations/flight cost of January, and although my original date of Jan 1 would have been cool, we decided this would make it possible for some of our guests who were on the fence. I'm also very glad that response from WC has improved 200 % :-).

I was *promised* a phone call by yesterday and never got it. It's not worth the energy stressing over this. I've sent the Michigan ladies 5 emails, repetative emails at that, and I haven't gotten a dang thing back. I even emailed the people in Mexico, and after they seemed to be helpful a few weeks ago, I got nothing. frown.gif

Seriously, I am almost at the point where I just want to say screw the WHOLE wedding idea, let me just enjoy my non-refundable plane ticket trip to Mexico (and tons of margaritas at that!) and I'll try to look into something else NEXT year. I just feel bad for those guests that have booked a trip expecting to see a wedding when I'm so not into it anymore.
Ok, after like 3-4 weeks into this destination wedding search. I realized that it is "normal" to not to receive an email for weeks or months. The WC in mexico are working for $10 per day, and they are also working on site weddings (up to 3-6 per day sometimes). Unlike private wedding planners in Canada or US, like 2 weddings on the w-e MAX, these WCs are having like 10 weddings per week! As your date approaches, they will work with u more closely. I dunno what is going on with the Michigan chicks...but I guess they still have to coordinate with the Mexico WCs most of the time. However, from all the reviews I read, the on-site WC will make sure everything goes smoothly once u get there. Therefore, I think I will book my package, secure the date, and plan on other things.

Hey ladies! i need your help please. Ive got a few questions:

I have read that a number of you have opted to do a cheaper wedding package like the classic or the eternal romance then just added on from there. I am highly considering this also b/c when i look at the luxury package it has alot of things we really dont need. So the a la carte list I have is pretty basic. Can any of you PM me with a complete a la carte wedding list with all the fees?

For example, if we decide to go with the eternal package it incl. a semi private reception for up to 30 guests, if we upgrade to a private reception it is an additional $25 per real guest for all 30 people or just guests beyond the 30?

Also, we are doing a symbolic ceremony, will they allow my FI's brother who is licensed in the states to marry, to lead the ceremony and waive there fee for the minister??

And i know several of you have asked this but I just want to clarify, our ceremony is on a Sat. at 2 p.m. will the weekend fee be waived even if our reception is from 4-7 p.m. Is that fee only charged if the "ceremony" is after 4p.m.?

One last question I promise :) I am not having a good time deciding on a photog. If I had an endless budget, it would be so easy. I will be charged $400 outside vendor fee so with this is mind, most that I have found put me over what I can spend. I am not a huge fan of the resort photog so I would like to use someone in addition for at least the ceremony and pics after. The one I have found charges $1500 plus that fee so now we are close to 2K which is really pushing it. Does anyone have some suggestions of good photogs that are around 1,000 or less that you really like??

Thank you all for your help!!

Hi Taapple

I will PM you with the checklist that comes straight from the WC's at the resort. You can see how much everything is and go from there. I am one of the brides doing a Classic wedding and upgrading quite a bit (still cheaper for me!)

That is a good question about upgrading to a private reception. The semi-private is $15/guest and private is 25/guest so Im not sure if it would just be an extra 10/guest to upgrade. Then every guest after 30 would be the full price I imagine.

Don't know about the minister fee, Im guessing you can since it is added on extra for everybody

You would be fine with a 2pm ceremony, no extra fee

I am using Mike Cantarell for photog. I was able to tell him my budget and he worked with me very well!! I am very happy with what I am getting. They are very willing to work with you

Hope this helps! Sorry I couldn't help with some of those!

$10 a dayhuh.gif That is not possible! I would think they're paid more than that...they deal with so many weddings a day.

Good luck picking your package! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
