I have complained about this in a couple threads already but I have been going to the gym 4 days a week with a trainer for 2 of them for 8 weeks now and in the beginning I lost 2 lbs per week and now it stopped and I keep fluctuating between 6lbs lost and 8lbs lost...

I don't want to complain because I'm happy w/ 6-8lbs, it's better than nothing, and I can see muscle definition and my clothes fit a little looser but not enough for a whole size yet...

So I'm freaking out because for the last like 3 weeks at least it's been fluctuating and I can't get it back down...

any advice??
You may be at a plataeu. I know sometime people will lose a bit of weight then it will level off a bit. Like the other girls said, your body has probably adjusted to your caloric intake and level of physical activity. Maybe if you change those up a bit you may see better results (this is coming from a fat cow, but just my thought)!

haha I should have pre-warned my advice too...."This is coming from a fat cow so I know I'm not getting it right, but here's my advice...."

It's like who really wants to trust an over-weight nutritionist.

You also need to be sure you are getting enough calories. If you've reduced what you are eating and are working out, you body might not have enough fuel so it's clinging to what it can. You need at least 1200 calories a day if you are active.

You can also watch when you eat. You are supposed to have something within 30 minutes of waking up. I've stopped eating refined sugar and I don't eat carbs after 3-4 pm. I also don't eat anything after 8pm if I can avoid it.

I am a fat cow so I'm hoping this strategy will pay off.

On a happy note, I tried on the sample of my dress at the bridal store today and I almost got it zipped!

Hey there. Guilty as well here. So, I have been trying to be better and actually go to the gym on a more regular basis. One of the hardest parts of working out most times is actually getting up and physically going to the gym to start with (for me anyway it is)

Also, instead of just doing the same cardio machines (ellipticals, bike, etc), I'm trying different exercise classes to mix it up a bit. I've heard this is good to kind of shock your body into losing.. Wish me luck, doing yogalates tomorrow night.

So, tonight back from my body pump class sitting on the couch watching biggest loser with my man. I've been complaining about how tired I've been and he's been telling me that I'm up too late on the computer, to put it away earlier and get to bed. Well I'm on this forum all the time, wedding type of surfing, looking at dresses, favors, etc. So...what was hilarious tonight is that while watching biggest loser with him, one of the trainers mentioned how it's so important to get enough sleep to lose weight, that she can tell when her team hasnt gotten their rest.

He just looked over at me with this look, and I cracked up, since I was just complaining how tired I was from being up late on the computer and that I only lost one pound last week....was priceless.

And..it's 12 am and here I am.....

Sorry post is so long!

Hang in there ladies...we can do it!!

I have tried healthy snacks but it works the same. But I eat because I want to eat. Now I am 5'5" and I weigh about 165lb. I am very top heavy 36DDD with a 31in waist.

I would love to get down to 130 but will settle 145. I will start a new eating regiment on a monday and do good all week. Then the weekend it is over.

I AM A FAT COW

Any words of wisdom on how to beat the gorging
Now wait just a damn minute woman...you are about the same size as me, and I am NOT fat...I'm fierce dammit! hahahahahaha!!

Seriously, I don't think you need to do much other than tone. You can lose some inches and still enjoy the food you love. Adding excersize and cutting your portions is the key. I'm realistic. No way can I deprive myself long term, so I find its easier to compensate by working out a little bit more. I'm just now getting into my excercise regimen, but its coming along and I'm being patient with myself.

Also, keep in mind...as Afr. Amer. women, some stuff is a given. We tend to have more dense muscle mass, and as we all know, muscle weighs more than fat. From your pic, it looks to me that you carry your weight beautifully and no one would ever guess the actual lbs. Thats the only important thing. Stop looking at the scale. It is not your friend, in fact, its a downright enemy to all of us trying to get a better body. Stick to a tape measure and moniter your progress every two weeks instead of every week. You'll be boosted by the results you're getting because they will be more dramatic opposed to if you were checking every week.

Above all, stop dogging yourself! You are beautiful, you are sexy, you are FIERCE. Screw that damn scale, girl.

Youre so sweet Savannah! You may be right about AA muscle mass... I told one of my friends how much I weigh and she looked at me in amazement and said " Why do you weigh so much more than me and you look smaller than me?" I wear 2 sizes smaller than her and I am 20lbs more than her!!! Crazy!!! I think its all about were the weight is distributed...

Thank you, BFB. Girl, we as women need to get over this constant comparing ourselves with what we see on t.v. Those heffa's have been nipped, tucked, airbrushed, peeled, suctioned and augmented to the nth degree and here we all sit looking at them, then in the mirror thinking we are unnatural. Something is VERY wrong with that.

I refuse to starve myself. Am I happy with my body? Ofcourse not. It needs some tweeking, but I'm not about to tell myself I need to be a size 2 to be gorgeous. Some women are simply not meant to be single digit sizes, and I'm one of them. I ain't been a size 6 since I WAS six, so I'm not sitting around the house trying to figure out how to go back to that. I had some medical issues about a year ago, and got down to a loose fitting size 10...people kept asking me what was wrong with me. I looked gaunt, emaciated and just plain unhealthy. This was the weight loss, not the medical problem that caused it. Once I gained about 10lbs back, everyone noticed and stopped even worrying about me even though I still had problems with my thyroid (mine was HYPERactive instead of sluggish, so my metabolism was in overdrive).

I've always thought the Marilyn Monroe's of the world are far more beautiful and womanly than the Twiggy's. I hate it that America has done this to the female population. Its mass brain washing I tell you! Not that theres anything wrong with being skinny. If thats your body type, then rock it. If its natural for you, then chances are you look good that way. I've just never understood the entire mentality of DYING to be "thin" or "skinny." In fact, I remember someone calling me that in college, and I got offended! I need my pumps and a bump....as Latifah says, "Its a curvation nation!". I'm a 14 now, but a 12 dress size. Its my hips that keep me outta of 12 pants, and they are not going ANYwhere, ya here? So I'm trying to tone up, and lose this damn pooch I have. I can't even blame my kids for it, I had it before. They just made it a little bigger, so not really their fault. hahahahaha

My wedding goal is to have SOME type of abdominal definition. You know, that outter rim women get even when they don't have the six pack? Ya, thats what I'm going for. Pooch reduction and a little ab definition as well as having thighs that do not jiggle when I run scantily clad down the beach. Because, honey, let me tell you..I WILL be running scantily clad down the beach. With no shame. And my man will love it. Y'all all need to do it. She'it, have you been to the beaches outside of the U.S.? If you see what some of those European women are working with, and showing off, you will stop feeling so bad about yourselves. ((shudder))

Y'all stop dogging yourselves. For real. Please. Obviously, you have men that think you are the cat's meow and sexy as hell or they wouldn't be tying themselves to your "fat" asses in the first place. I guarantee you, the only person thinking you are fat (other than Hollywood) is you.

Savannah, you are so funny and I enjoyed reading your posts...but I must agree with you that America & Hollywood, etc has set unrealistic goals for us women. For instance, I hate watching American Idol bc I cant stand for a young & talented woman to be told that she can sing her ass off BUT she can stand to lose a few pounds or she's not going to be an "idol"....wouldn't we want to idolize her bc she has a great pair of lungs and she gives you goosebumps when she sings or do we want to idolize her bc she lost 15lbs and is now considered "thin"?? I dont get it, the whole image thing is seriously overrated. I want to protect my daughter as much as I can from all this nonsense...by raising her to be confident & to love herself no matter what her pant size is.

Hello Everyone,

You guys have great insight on how today's society views weight issues. I feel so fat right now I know I'm not huge but I need to tighten my flabby tummy. My body is so weird my top is 36DD and my bottom is a 6/7. I want to wear a two piece swimsuit but I hate my stomach. What are some things you guys are doing to lose weight besides eating healthy? I already do that but have not gained any weight just lost a few pounds.

Jess

Take a look at this post, it might help you too, or give you a bit of encouragement. I posted some tips from my nutritionist on there too, and tomorrow I'll scan and email a mealplan recipes etc... that the nutritionist gave me. There might be something there that you might find helpful or inspiring. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t18486

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
