i'm doing the symbolic ceremony just to avoid all of the headaches. also, to put FI and his daughter on my benefits at work, i need a marriage license within 30 days or else i have to wait until the end of the year... definitely don't want to do that since it takes so long to get your license from PC.

toya, i haven't heard of anyone doing this, but if you can that's definitely a way to make sure you know what you're getting into! have you found any other DJs in PC besides DJ Mannia?

Hey E, I haven't found any others and I havn't actually looked either lol.. I just read that thread about DJ Mannia and he had some good reviews, but to me 800 is alot for a DJ I have never heard lol.... so I don't know what I am going to do. At first I was going to do the IPOD then I started thinking " who is going to be in charge of controling the IPOD lol... so I was like ok I need a DJ

Sorry I have been MIA for awhile...crazy-busy with work. I was up in the air on the DJ topic, too, and had thought about using the resort DJ or our iPod. However, I didn't want to put someone in charge of the iPod (b/c I want everyone to just enjoy the reception) and I didn't want to stress over it either. Also, I wanted someone to MC the reception...wedding party announcements, cake cutting, first dance, father-daughter dance, etc. We actually are going with DJ Mannia. I know it seems like a large chunk of moolah, but music is important to us and can make or break the reception and dance. I have read great reviews on him...so, we just decided to book him and not stress over that at all. Just our thought-process...we aren't doing a ton of extras for decorations, etc...so this is just one aspect we are splurging on. We figured the dance is something we always remember with weddings we attend...just a thought. Hope all is well with all of you ladies!

Hey Auntumn - yeh I definitly think I will need a DJ, so I'm going to email Deyanira in the am and ask her, can my DJ plug into there speakers, thats all he needs to do he told me, so hopefully she says yes. if so then my problem is solved.

Hey Ash - Nicole was great because I actually had a couple different color changes ( me being indecisive) and she was soo helpful. I would recommend fer to anyone.

However, if you are set on getting "legally" married in front of family and friends at Dreams, I would say go for civil. Honestly, I would love to just go get married today at the court house and then do a symbolic ceremony while I was down in Punta Cana, BUT my family and his family are going there because they want to see us get married, and we want them to be there for the actual thing too! So we are going for civil. It's whatever you feel is right for the both of you!

See Ashley, that's my problem...it would be way cheaper and easier, but the whole reason everyone is going down there for is to see us get married.
I am constantly going back and forth with this... will probably end up doing the civil just to alleviate any guilt. But Deyanira sent me my confirmation with a ceremony time of 6:15pm... in January it will be dark by then.. no good for us... I sent her one back requesting a new time of 3:00. I have heard other stories where the WC performs the ceremony and the judge comes later on or the next day and signs the paperwork...hijacked.gif

Guess I kinda hijacked myself there... anyways, I am still leaning towards the civil, but the symbolic would be SO much easier. shots.gif

Nat - She is soooo reasonably priced!!! Has so many options, as well as doing custom orders. It's like $6 for one but $20 for 4 or something like that. She's on mat leave so it's closed right now, but she'll be back as soon as possible. She's one of my PW ladies! AWESOME reviews of her on Project Wedding. Also check out her blog for previous work. She does invites, seating charts, STD's, etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
