Hey Ladies,

What is everyone doing for their reception and/or cocktail time between the ceremony and dinner?

I am trying to figure this out while still keeping costs down...

I also don't understand why we have to pay for a private cocktail reception when it is an all-inclusive...

Anyways, just need some ideas..

Hey Nat, I am going with apple Green or Kiwi with aqua blue, tan and ivory or creme. When I actually put the kiwi and pink together it was too much, it look like watermelon everywhere lol... and then I thought about what you told me hahahahah so I changed my mind. When I put the kiwi with aqua blue and hints of ivory and tan it was a softer look and I liked it alot better.

For the monograms, Nicole only charges $5 per monogram and I think if you purchase 4 you get the fifth one free. I have 3 monograms I wil try to attach them

Good Morning Ladies !

Hahaha Toya thats so funny you thought of my FBIL when picking out your colors!! I can't imagine your color shades were as outrageous as his though... what you picked out sounds very beachy but very classy as well :)

Hey Tam,

This is how I cut my cost down. Me and FI are staying 7 nghts so we qualify for the free wedding package. Then we just added up the cost based on 50-60 guest for the reception which came to $2016-$2489. We are choosing the buffet menu which is 32.00 per person plus 16% tax and 10% service charge. Then I am bringing my own decor instead of paying the resort $90 per centerpiece and that helps keep the cost down. I'm not purchasing any extra decor for the gazebo excpet chair sashes because it is pretty as it is. so in a nut shell this is hopefully how my budget for the DW will look below, I just rounded everything up.

Our stay and air fare - $3000
Wedding ceremony - $ Free
Wedding reception food - $3000
Wedding reception decor - $350
DJ services - $800
Speakers for reception - $110
Bouquet and flowers - $ 350
Bridesmaids & Groomsmen gifts - $250
Misc - $500
TOTAL - $8,360.00

For our at home recpetion we are spending somewhere around $5000 and we are renting an outside pavillion and ballroom and having a big cookout stlye party. something very fun and not super formal.

Hope this helps somewhat.

tam - i think my pricing will be similar to toya's w/ a few changes... a little less for food since we won't have nearly as many guests as she will, we aren't using a DJ and we are doing our own flowers at home so the price will be lower.

i have seen a lot of people ask why the reception is more when you're already at an all-inclusive. the response i've seen makes sense to me... that they are having employees (bartenders, servers, etc.) that are being dedicated specifically to your reception. normally, if you have a big group you can't all sit together at the restaurants or have reservations like what you get for the reception. it doesn't bother me one bit because the resort does such a good job of keeping the costs competitive (some of the lowest around and they include a ton of things!). i haven't heard of a single resort anywhere that will do a private reception without charging extra. it's counter-intuitive since it's an AI, but i'd gladly pay extra for that special time with all of my guests!

Hey E, since your not having a DJ, what have you decided to do as far as music goes ?

Hi! I am getting married at Dreams on March 13, 2010, and I had a few questions about reception tables and chairs and wondered if anyone knew the dimensions for the tables and chairs. I wanted to put bows around the back of the chairs and maybe add something to the tables, but didn't know how much material we needed. Strange question I know, but just wondered what some of you were doing for decorations at the reception. Thanks!

Toya,

I am bringing real touch flowers... I actually bought some of them from a girl on the BDW, but I haven't received them yet..just bouquets. I am starting to worry though about not getting them yet.

I just like the idea of you know what you're getting, there's no wilting and it's way cheaper than the hotel flowers...

Holy crap I think they are really expensive, especially the centrepieces.

I was looking online today too, at sashes and tablerunners, they seem pretty cheap.

I can't remember who put it on this site, but it's called weddinlinensdirect.com.

They had lots of colours... sorry just realized I am totally off the subject!

I don't know what to do about a DJ...is DJ mannia from the DR?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
