I just sent an e-mail to the General Manager regarding the photographer situation, I had booked the hotel before the date but not the actual photographer.  Hopefully if enough people e-mail their concerns then they will change their mind.  If he still refuses to allow an outside photographer then we will get married on La Barcaza.

Photography Policy Changed Again?! YAY! Hopefully this is true but this was posted on the Discussion forum on Dreams Punta Cana! I will be so happy if this is true! Here's what was posted: We understand there has been some confusion over our wedding photography policy so we wanted to provide some information on the recent change. Similar to many other wedding venues, we recently selected a new preferred vendor for our in-house photographer. Tropical Pictures is a reputable photography company that we trust will capture beautiful images of weddings and other photo sessions at our resort. Although there has been some speculation, this change does not impact a bride and groom’s ability to select an outside vendor for their wedding photography. Both local and foreign photographers are permitted to take photos on our property if hired by a bride and groom or their family. Additionally, there is no charge to bring an outside photographer on our property for the day to take photos of a wedding. We know that photography is an important part of any wedding day and want to be sure each bride and groom feels comfortable with their decision, regardless of who they select as a photography vendor. Our wedding coordinator will be happy to guide you through the process to make sure that you are making the right choice for your wedding day. We hope this information helps our fans and future brides and grooms gain a better understanding of our policy regarding wedding photography

Hi ladies glad to know this photographer stuff is sorted out for all of you.

I would be pissed if i had got an external photographer and they pulled this : )

Ok so on another note, do any of you punta cana brides who have had catholic ceremonies have a sample of what your wedding programs look like.or have your itenary for events ??

have to set an itenary soon and Im all confused.

even if you have a reception itenary so that i can see how y'all set things up and get some ideas of my own.

        thanks so much

58 days to go woo hoo....

Wow.  I read the notice on HDC's facebook one day and was shocked!  As per the notice about about no charge, I would suggest double checking that part, since we were required to pay for a "day pass" for our photog (HDC).  It is great that they are going to allow outside photographers from outside.  I would have been beyond pissed if that had happened to any of you!

            Hey everyone,

Looks like our FB and Twitter letter writing campaign had an impact.

In case you haven't seen it, the photography policy appears to have changed yet again. Please check out the post on the Facebook Discussion Page:

The thing is, my reason for going with HDC was not because I doubted the skills of their resort photographer, it was primarily due to the fact that I could get more photos, in both B&W and colour, for a longer period of time for considerably less money.

I understand that corporate policies can change, but at the very least they should give us all our deposits back and offer us all photography packages with the resort photographer, that are comparable to the ones we were expecting with the photographers that were our first choice!!!

I am thinking that our letter should be to the general Dreams Punta Cana address, rather than the Wedding Coordinators - whom I'd expect have no authority to do anything.

In addition to the letter, I'd also recommend that we start an all-out Social Media campaign on the Dreams Twitter and Facebook pages - these companies review these things regularly and the last thing they would want is for the bad press to go viral.

Here is the link to their website, which lists all of their Social Media properties.

If you would like to be part of a letter please PM me.

            Thanks,

            Jenn

              Hey Ladies,

Just wanted to pass along the email I received from Gara Dias, she is the woman who contacted me a few weeks ago to confirm the details for our wedding. I think that she may have inadvertantly included my email address in this message, as it sounds like it was an internal communication to the WCs.  Sounds like they have decided to wave the costs to bring an outside photographer onto the property.

              From Gara:

              Good morning,

As there has been a change in the preferred vendors for photographers, please be sure that you are passing along a consistent message to brides. Even though we have preferred photography vendors, couples are still welcome to bring/use whichever photographer they choose. It has also been decided that no additional fee will be charged to bring an outside photographer onto the property.

              Regards,

This is awesome! Hopefully they don't go back on the not charging an outside fee rule. This is great as it will save us some money so that we can put it to use somewhere else :)

Just in case anyone else with a large group is going to Dreams Jennifer e-mailed me the pricelist for the buffet. The cost is between $45 to $69.30 per person depending on which package you want and how fancy you want the buffet to be. The $45 price is for a minimum of 40ppl and the higher end has to have a minimum of 50.
