  1. Peach, There is one and it's called Dreams Punta Cana Brides! But it depends on what kind of photos you're looking for, there are a lot of pics of actual weddings, people with their wedding parties, and some trash the dress pictures, but not a lot of receptions. I think one girl had up a couple of links posted that showed her entire wedding. I was scouring the internet when I was still planning and just by searching for Dreams Punta Cana weddings and clicking the images tab on google you can find some if you go through the links. It takes a long time but there is some stuff out there. I would give you the links I'd bookmarked but my husband just traded in our old laptop that had everything on it. Also if you go through all the pages on this thread there are a couple of girls who posted pictures. If you have any other questions, let me know!
  2. Hi ladies, My husband and I are back from the wedding and settling in. I just wanted to post the link to our wedding pictures. I know I was freaking out looking for photos when I was planning, so hopefully this helps. Let me know if anyone has any questions! http://www.cineartphotography.com/eric-kristin-dreams-punta-cana-wedding
  3. Hi again everyone! I may have good news. I don't know if anyone loves the chivari chairs that Dreams has on their website as much as I do or if anyone was disappointed at the price Dreams quoted for providing them ($20 per chair), but I found an outside vendor who said he can provide them for $3 a chair plus $450 for transportation and set up, which is still kind of pricey but much more do-able, ending up being about half of what Dreams was charging. Also he sent us an email yesterday saying that he'd spoken to Jennifer and she gave him the green light to provide the chairs for us even though he's an outside vendor. Fingers crossed!!! Also, has anyone done or plan on doing OOT bags? So far I've gotten travel packs of tylenol, pepto bismal, immodium, sunscreen, bug spray and aloe. I found everything pretty reasonably priced on this site: http://www.minimus.biz/default.aspx Now I'm debating what else to put in these bags. I think when I get there I'm going to see if they have schedules of events to include and maybe bottles of mamajuana to bring in some of the local flavor. Now I'm wondering if I should include little bags of snacks (that I individually pack to save on costs). I've never been to an all inclusive resort before, so I'm not sure what the snack situation is there. Does anyone think it would be nice to have snacks for by the pool or on the beach, or are there snacks around? Obviously meals and things are included, so I don't know if this is kind of redundant and unnecessary or if it would be nice to have something to throw in your bag and munch on rather than having to go to one of the restaurants or bars to search out food. Anyone have any thoughts or input?
  4. Rawr!! Ok ladies, I've officially had my first bridezilla moment, and feel like I have to vent, and also I think it might be helpful information. I know a bunch of you have seen the new photos on the Dreams website of the wedding and reception sites. They are absolutely beautiful and with some of the things that have been changing lately with Dreams (like the change in the photographer policy) I was like perfect, that's exactly what I want, if it's on the Dreams website, maybe they offer the things in the pictures like the chairs and lanterns, different linens etc. So I inquired from Dreams and was basically told probably not but we'll look into it. So in the meantime I contacted an outside wedding planner in the DR, she has everything I want and is offering it at a very reasonable price. So I waited to hear from Dreams (1) if they could provide the things I wanted or (2) would allow me to have an outside vendor provide them. After three weeks of no response (which has put me into a holding pattern as far as ordering the things myself b/c I would rather have them provide everything possible so I don't have to ship or travel with any more stuff than absolutely necessary thereby incurring even more costs) and with my wedding about 37 days away I finally freaked out. I've been calling the resort all day and they basically told me there's still no information about whether they can get the items I requested (linens, lanterns, tall vases) besides the chairs which they quoted me $20 per chair, and that they WOULD NOT allow any outside vendors for the wedding. In the meantime I had also put a post on the Dreams facebook page to try to generate some kind of response as to whether or not I can get my hands on the things in pictures or not. The response to my angry post by the concierge is that the pictures are to inspire the events that can be held on the resort, and that you CAN use outside vendors to achieve these results. So I've forwarded this response to the wedding department and am waiting for a response. I'll be sure to fill everyone in with the verdict when I get it. I'm just really frustrated at this point, but have my fingers crossed that there will be a good resolution to this. Maybe I'm just overreacting, but I really want me wedding to look like something in those pictures and the fact that the resort is not helping to accommodate their brides achieve the results they have posted on their website is pushing me over the edge. Sigh. Ok, I'm done complaining.
  5. Hi ladies, I also got the same info about $20 per chair to rent the Chaivari chairs which is absurd. So right now I'm emailing with a local company that supposedly can provide them for $4 per chair. So I'm getting a final quote and coordinating w/ Dreams to see if they're going to give me a problem about having another company handle the chairs. I've also inquired about whether Dreams can provide me with the lanterns that are in the photos for a rental price, and whether they can rent tall glass vases. I'll report back after I have solid answers.
  6. I'm not sure about acrylic vases, but I am looking into having Dreams rent vases for our centerpieces since they don't have bigger ones on hand. I left another voicemail w/ them today and will post the pricing info on here when I have it. Fingers crossed that it's not too expensive. I'm asking them about the tall glass vases and about the lanterns they have in the new pictures on the wedding tab of the website on the Himitsu and El Patio Terraces.
  7. Tink - you do have to do Pre Cana for a Catholic wedding. You have to do it w/ your home church or an approved online course and then submit it to your parish to give you the green light and send all of your paperwork to the priest at the Dominican parish. Send me a PM if you have more questions. My fiance and I are in the process of finishing all of this stuff up.
  8. Also with respect to this whole photographer business, really big part of my decision to book an outside photographer is because the resort would not provide me with their portfolios, any samples of the work they do, or any information about what type or style of photographer they are. I was not comfortable just showing up and leaving the photos of one of my most important day/events up to a person I'd never met never having seen their work before. I don't think it's unreasonable for a bride to ensure that her day is captured in the way she wants by a person she feels comfortable and confident will do that. Especially when they're basically asking you to take a leap of faith. Maybe I'm just a lunatic control freak, but somehow I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way. The resort needs to make some kind of concession, either be more accommodating with respect to providing info and samples of the photographers' work or let people bring their own photographers with them. Honestly if this decision came down before I booked I probably would've booked elsewhere.
  9. Hallelujah!! It's only going forward that outside photographers are not allowed. If you booked your wedding with them prior to today you're good, although I don't think it would hurt to confirm via email so that you don't run into any problems.
  10. ummm I'm REALLY hoping the photographer thing only applies to people who book their weddings after today b/c I already booked my photographer for my May wedding and have already put down a ton of money toward it. I'm frantically scurrying to get in touch w/ the resort to confirm one way or another b/c I'm having a freak out moment right now!
  11. Hi Sherri, my email address is kwaller82@gmail.com. Thanks in advance for the pics! Being a control freak I'm starting to freak out about how everything is going to look w/ out being able to see it before hand. Thanks again, and congrats!
  12. Hi Sherri, your pictures are amazing, you look beautiful! I was wondering if you have any pictures of your reception. Our wedding is scheduled for May 21st at 4:30 with our dinner and cocktail hour on the Himitsu Terrace. It also looks like we're expecting around the same number of guests you had, so I'm just curious to see what the set up looks like. Also, how do they do the cocktail hour? Is everything in the same space as the dinner, or do they do the cocktail hour on one part of the terrace and the dinner on another part? Thanks!!
  13. The prices will almost definitely go down. We're getting married in May, so the different time of year may affect you a little bit, but my best friend got a great deal for our wedding, I think she's paying $800 a person for a week (she's an amazing bargain hunter). My experience is that if you keep a look out you should be able to get a week for well under $1500 a person (unless your guests upgrade). I think my family paid somewhere in the range of $950 per person for a week for a standard room and airfare w/ one layover. If you have any other questions let me know!
  14. Would you mind sending me pictures of the centerpiece options? I'm still debating what to do about them and whether I should consider contacting a local florist. Thanks so much!
  15. Would you mind sending me pictures of the centerpiece options? I'm still debating what to do about them and whether I should consider contacting a local florist. Thanks so much!
  16. Congrats!! Your pictures are beautiful and I loved the flowers and linens! Are those real flowers? Did you use the resort's florist or find someone in town whose prices are more reasonable? Thanks!
  17. I would love to see pictures of a reception set-up on the Himitsu Terrace if possible! This whole not being able to see what I'm getting prior to the wedding is really starting to freak me out. It's turned me into a total internet stalker trolling websites hoping for glimpses of people's receptions But if anyone has pictures of their reception that they'd be willing to share I'd really appreciate it. Especially if anyone has pictures of floral centerpieces they got. Thanks ladies!
  18. I was worried about the same thing with the photographer (I was also nervous about not being able to see the photographer's work before getting there), so I ended up just booking an outside photographer so I know that someone will be there, exactly what the price will be, and what I can expect.
  19. I'm also getting married at Dreams Punta Cana. Our wedding is scheduled for May 21, 2011, and we're also using DJ Mannia. I'm hoping he's a good as everyone says I emailed his site directly, but both the response from them as well as from the Dreams resort is that we can reserve him through the resort when you get there right before the wedding. Allegedly DJ Mannia isn't one person, but a whole company/association of DJs, so supposedly booking them last minute when you get there for the wedding isn't a problem. Hope this helps!
  20. Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely check it out since the resort is giving me about zero information as to what their centerpieces would look like. Thanks again!
  21. Help! I'm having my wedding at Dreams Punta Cana at the end of May 2011, with my reception being held on the Himitsu Terrace, and am starting to freak out about the reception decorations. Most of the people I've talked to this say something like "don't worry about it, the location is so beautiful you really don't need decorations." I think the location is amazing, however, I would also kind of like to have more traditional wedding reception centerpieces and decor rather than only relying on location. The obvious problem with this is figuring out what to use, how much it's going to cost, and obviously how to get it there! I was wondering if anyone else felt this way, if they came up with any solutions, and/or if they would be willing to share pictures of their wedding receptions. Thanks!!!
