This site has inspired me to branch out and try some diy projects. I already ordered Save The Dates and couldn't believe how expensive they were! I would love to attempt boarding pass invitations, passport agendas for welcome bags or even the wedding program fans. I have never been crafty so I need advice on where to start. I have found some free templates but I need some suggestions on brands or resources that would be best for a beginner. Please help!

Hi everyone! My name is Danielle and I am new-ish! I have been on here since May, but haven't actually posted anything because most of my questions are answered right in the forums. I am getting married on 5 May (4 months and 4 days! Ahh!), and as I have already used this site so much, I thought I would say hello Me and my fiance (Chris) are from Vancouver Island (BC) and currently live outside Whistler. We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, and we are so excited! We chose a DW, because, like so many couples, having family across the country was difficult to choose a spot. We discovered that an all inclusive in Mexico was cheaper than travelling 7 days to Toronto or Kelowna. Plus, this was a compromise from my lovely fiance, who actually wanted to elope vs a big wedding Current projects are favours and decor. Did any of you have any troubles bringing edible favours/OOT bags into Mexico? That was my only fear, but I didn't want to spend the money on non-edible favours because so many get left behind. Thanks everyone for all the insight so far; looking forward to being more visible on this site! Talk soon!

Hello Brides!! My fiancé and I are getting married at the Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa in November 2016! We have put down deposits and have a couple of decisions left to make for now. I was hoping for some input from others who have had a wedding here, attended one, or any advice in general about destination weddings would OF COURSE be super helpful Right now we are trying to decide on whether to have a private dinner or stick with the "semi-private" option that is included in the wedding package. I'm wondering if any of you have input on either option, and whether it's worth it to pay the extra fee for the private. If you have had your wedding here, and did the semi-private, any input as to what that was like would be wonderful! I'm just not sure what to expect!! Thanks in advance, and i look forward to hearing from you all!!

Hello, I am new to this site and hoping to get some help making a decision on which resort to book for my wedding in November 2016. I have spent countless hours going over the different options and feel like I am going crazy! My goal is to keep the trip as cost effective for my guests as possible while having a beautiful beach wedding with some good food and dancing.. I am a low maintenance, easy going bride, all I want is to do is pick a couple flowers and show up with a dress and my man As result I have narrowed it down to the following: 1. Riu Yucatan (I LOVE the beach!) 2. Grand Bahia Principe Tulum 3. Riu Playacar If anyone has any experiences with any of these hotels I would love to hear it! I read a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor and it's hard to tell which are unbiased and which are fake.. Thank you! Joanna

I just got engaged and I have no idea where to begin. I am open to all places, not just Mexico. However I'm under a pretty tight budget under $10k. Ideally $7k. Is it doable? For an all inclusive ?

Hey, ladies! Thought I'd start a post specifically for brides getting married in PV in 2016. Looking for vendor ideas and reviews - specifically for DJs/bands. My date is April 22 and I'm working with Kelley Kahrhoff for coordination. I have ceremony and reception venues booked -- Our Lady of Guadalupe for the ceremony and Villa Celeste for the reception. I'm also in the process of booking Vista Grille for the rehearsal dinner. I still need music, photographer, florist, etc. Anyone else getting married in PV in 2016?? Who are you working with so far?? Any good ideas you've come across for welcome parties?? Thanks!!

Just returned from a one week stay in St. Lucia. We stayed at Bay Gardens Beach Resort where we got married. EXTRAORDINARY PLACE! The site is beautiful, the staff friendly and pleasant, the food, in short it is the best trip I've done so far, and we are already planning to return for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Saint Lucia is the most beautiful place I have ever been to! For the adventurous like me, there are many waterfalls deep in the interiors that are still untouched by all the tourists coming into the island. We hired acclaimed photographer Bill Mortley (www.billmortleyphotography.com) to photograph our wedding and after the ceremony he took us to various locations to do our formals. Beautiful photos!!!!!! That made our entire trip so special. Probably the best decision we made. We read so much about him before deciding HE was the one we were going to entrust with our special moments. Bill took so much time to ensure each pose was captured professionally. Lots of attention to exposure and white balance...the guy knows his stuff. It was truly an amazing experience. The only thing I would advise apart from that is with the excursions. We paid a lot for one and weren't fully satisfied, so the next day we went out instead with one of the beach vendors, and that was truly a good decision. Saint Lucia is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! The journey is from the airport is long, but when you arrive at the resort it is worth it! The place is gorgeous, the food is excellent and the staff is so friendly...we can't wait to go back.

Communication You and your fiancé should sit down and talk through what you are envisioning for your wedding. This is the initial stages so play around with ideas, more so hear pay attention to what fiancé likes too. Also draw up your budget estimation. Get in touch with a professional, such as a wedding planner or travel agent, wedding consultant etc. Figure out this part with a professional help or someone with experience. You want to make sure you have a wedding planner or consultant who has knowledge, make sure you have a great connection /vibe with them, especially since you are going to be trusting them with such an important task. Ask them as many questions as you can. What destination and resort would work for you, make sure you point out your requirements you are looking for with a resort. E.g are you looking for a family friendly resort? An All-inclusive resort? Or a resort with tons of activities? Sandy beach. What group benefits you could find? Break down the wedding planning into mini tasks. Once you choose your destination and resort or private location, you want to decide between you and your fiancé, who is going to do what task. This is also the time to decide if your bridal party will be doing some DIY if necessary (delegate). Best result comes when you take care of 1 task at a time. Resort booking make sure you are 100%happy before signing any contract and have read all fine prints. Decide on wedding location, choose are you hosting your wedding at a resort or off-resort? Choose your photographer, choose a package that works with your budget and select enough hours DJ make sure you get some reviews, enough to get you comfortable. Décor and florist this part usually drags a bit but its ok, communicate what you are looking for and share pictures to help communication. Cake, best option is choose your design and flavors. Favors, draw up how much you would like to spend on this part don’t go overboard. Welcomes bags, same rule apply as favors. Any extra you may want (bridal party gifts if you choose) Inspiration board You and your fiancé will choose your theme, and colors, be sure to visit some your top wedding pages such Pinterest for inspiration this will help you, especially to communicate with your location virtually on your vision. To avoid confusion on tones/color scheme etc. Research is great, but make sure you do not overdo it, to avoid overwhelming yourself. Create a wedding website This is going to be the best way to communicate with your guests throughout your wedding planning. Make sure you include your travel agent´s information, to help your guests with any question in terms of accommodation etc. This will help you to only focus on your wedding planning. Between your life and work, what are the suitable times to do your wedding planning task? Do you have more free time in the morning? Or in the evening? That you could do some planning? If you prefer weekends, then set some free time over the weekends. Whatever you do not over plan. Months will go by quickly, well at least that is how you will feel, with a simple spreadsheet it could be a word doc /PowerPoint to tick off your task and keep track of payment. As much as is this all new to you, important factor is your day is going to be so special, in fact it will be more that you have imagined ! Take it all in and don’t forget to say “I do”. An anticipated happy wedding of Prophet Albert Mensah alias Nana Kofi, Founder of the Jesus Foundation Prayer Ministry at Site 14, Community 1, Tema, rather went sour Wednesday morning when a 20-year-old woman with her three-week-old baby boy disrupted the ceremony. The marriage department of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) became the toast of attraction for most staff of the assembly, passersby and traders at the Tema Central Market when the woman, Ms Mabel Patamia, accompanied by her relations and sympathisers, demanded that the registrar halt the solemn ceremony between the prophet and one Joyce Anima Damptey. Ms Patamia did not even allow the couple to take the vows as she interrupted every pronouncement, prompting the Assistant Marriage Registrar to introduce her to the gathering. The main reason for her action, she told the marriage official, was that she was engaged to Prophet Nana Kofi and has a child with him and that both were preparing to marry sometime this year. The expected happy occasion turned sour as well-wishers and witnesses of the couple looked shocked. They began leaving the premises of the assembly with disappointment. Prophet Nana Kofi was said to have impregnated Ms Patamia when the mother sent her to the church for spiritual healing, as she was alleged to be suffering from spiritual attack. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema, who overheard Mabel’s persistent screams, quickly intervened to hold a crunch meeting with both parties and the marriage department. PHOTO ivory bridesmaid dresses Mabel Patamia holding her baby and leaving the marriage office TMA together with some sympathisers and relatives Mabel Patamia holding her baby and leaving the marriage office TMA together with some sympathisers and relatives After close to 30 minutes, it was concluded that the assembly would withhold the marriage certificate of the couple till Ms Patamia was dully compensated. The pastor was also to sign an undertaking at the Social Welfare Department that he would cater for the child. Prophet Nana Kofi was later whisked away in a car together with his would-be wife amidst jeers and boos from the crowd. Cynthia Patamia, mother of the dejected lady, narrated to DAILY GUIDE that her daughter entered into a relationship with Prophet Nana Kofi when she sent her for prayers as she was suffering from ‘high fever.’ She became pregnant and Prophet Nana Kofi was made to perform the initial customary rites to the family. “However, after coming for the list, I never heard from him again until I heard that he had impregnated another member of the church. I confronted him and he told me that he impregnated the woman who she was getting married to,” she stated. Cynthia Patamia said to her surprise, she was in the house at Site 5, Community 1, Tema, when news got to her that Prophet Nana Kofi was getting marriage to another woman who was also pregnant for him. According to her, “I quickly called my daughter, some friends and relatives and we went to the assembly to stop them from getting marriage since he cannot take my daughter and me for a ride.” Mabel Patamia told DAILY GUIDE that although she was demanding that the marriage should be halted, she had no problem with Prophet Nana Kofi getting married; but was only concerned with the clandestine way he was going about it. Meanwhile, the marriage department of the assembly is said to be in a fix and could face possible legal action if it failed to issue the marriage certificate to them. This is because the couple were said to have gone through all the processes as their names were pasted on the marriage notice board for the expected 21 days and even had additional five days which elapsed before they were booked to come for the solemnisation. Less pads you are faster, skinnier, that’s just the way I was introduced to the (pro) game,” he said. “It’s a culture shift. They will adjust.” Goodell pointed out something a Nike executive told him recently: NBA players are wearing more pads from the hips down than NFL players. “There is something wrong with that,” Goodell said. Should a player not have the pads john wall jersey on when he enters a game, he will be sent off the field by a game official. “It’s the same as if he ran on without a helmet,” McKay said. “It is a safety rule.” Goodell said he expects evidence in the Saints bounties case would be made public after all the player appeals and grievances have been heard. Release of any documents also could be delayed by Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma’s tim duncan jersey authentic mlb jerseys defamation lawsuit against cheap authentic nfl jerseys Goodell after the commissioner suspended Vilma for the entire 2012 season. The owners also voted to move the trading deadline from after Week 6 to after Week 8, and to nhl jerseys cheap allow one “marquee” player placed on injured reserve to return to practice after the sixth week of the schedule and to the lineup after the eighth week. That player must be on the 53 man roster after the final preseason cut. Terrell Suggs, the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year, could fall into that category. Suggs recently underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. If the Ravens believe Suggs can make it back in midseason, nhl hockey jerseys 318, as the linebacker has predicted, they could use the IR special designation for him. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft likes the adjustment because he knows firsthand how devastating an injury to a star player can be. Visit Philly, Nyc, Bermuda And Venice In Pafa Exhibit
carpenter posted a blog entry in carpenter's Blog
Oh, the places you’ll go. Artist James Toogood takes viewers through cityscapes in Philadelphia and New York, the waterways of Venice, and the tropical beauty of Bermuda. In “James Toogood: Watercolors” at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), the teacher and alumnus investigates the variations of light, texture, and atmosphere found in those places. Toogood, whose work has been featured in more than 40 solo exhibitions with the Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia and other galleries and museums, uses watercolor paintings to communicate things he finds intriguing about the people, places, and things that make up everyday life. “My work is about my feelings about the things that amuse, bemuse, and stun me,” he said in a telephone interview. “I’m trying to find beauty sometimes in the banal. A pizza place in New York City might not be the first thing you think of.” But he did and he painted one into a work called “Mixed Emotions.” It shows a street corner in NYC as it is, but also as he wants to see it. He adds things, moves buildings, or changes things to fit his vision. People think the scenes are strictly representative and actually appear the way he paints them. “You get a sense of believability,” he said. “Because certain things are believable, it must all be believable.” He usually paints scenes with great detail and “they take as long as they take,” he said. A larger painting, with “a lot that has to be expressed,” could mean thousands of brushstrokes and about a month of work (or more). He tries to work on one piece at a time. Sometimes, while working on a new piece, he’ll go back and add touches to a recently finished one. PHOTO convertible bridesmaid dress “I’ll muse about it and look at it in the corner while I work on something else,” he said. “It’s like working on a puzzle in your head.” He’s been working on artwork puzzles in his head since he started painting as a child. “I thought everyone did it,” he said. “You learn math and spelling and how to paint. I was already hooked when I realized that wasn’t the case.” It’s a tough, but rewarding life. “Being an artist is a noble calling,” he said. “It’s not easy. It requires enormous work. You have to know you may or may not make it. Sometimes, you’ll make it for a while and you’ll have lean times and you need to be prepared for it. You really have to be willing to know there’s going to be sacrifices.” Tish Ingersoll, Manager of the PAFA Alumni Gallery, appreciates his take on the artistic life and is happy to be able to showcase not only an alumnus, but a PAFA teacher. She curated the Toogood exhibit and loves his work. She thinks what he does with watercolor is amazing. “Some people put watercolor down and don’t take it seriously,” she said in a telephone interview. “His layering technique is labor-intensive although he makes it look like it isn’t. He has mastered the medium.” Ingersoll said the exhibit has a broad range. “The Bermuda paintings have such translucency,” she said. “The blues are gorgeous — cerulean, ultramarine. It’s a gorgeous play of that against the cityscapes we’ll have and his Venetian paintings.” She thinks his talent makes it easy for him to go “in any direction, no matter the subject,” she said. When she began putting the show together, she thought of just displaying cityscapes. “Then I went to his studio and said ‘I can’t just do that.’ His mastery of landscape is beyond belief,” she said. And though many scenes are representational, they’re really about light and texture and atmosphere, she said. “Viewers can take whatever they want from his work,” she said. “It’s not about the recognizable place, but where it can take you.” READ MORE beach bridesmaid dresses -

Hey Guys, I always meant to write a review of my wedding but just never got around to it. So instead I thought I'd offer a couple pics (some are iPhone pics, so ignore the quality) and a video a friend made for us while we were there, and see if anyone had any questions that I could answer. Video: Let me know if you have any questions! We had the best time and I would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone! -Cora

Hi Brides! I am looking for any help you may have for a great photographer in Punta Cana .. that is reasonably priced .. and when i say that .. i mean. . no more than $2000 for a decent package (7+ hours of coverage) .. i feel like when looking at the prices of photographers my budget is low .. but considering my wedding is costing $3000 alone .. i don't have much room left for the photographers! I am from Canada, and I hate that all these prices are in USD!! It kills me .. are there any photographers, other than Photo Phil, that charge in CAD?? I love Karina Jensen's style .. her prices aren't too bad .. but i just wanted to check and see if any brides found someone with the same style, but less $$

Hi Everyone, This is my first time on a forum site so please bare with me! I have just finished my confirmation for my beach destination wedding at Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana, DR for May 28th 2016. I am just starting, as I have just booked my room, paid the deposit, chosen the beach gazebo and Tropical Convention Center for the wedding/reception at 5pm. I have chosen the Fairy Tale Tropical package and am expecting arounf 40 guests. There are a few things I am still very curious on, like decor thats used there, flowers, name tags, DJ for the reception (costs associated with all these)? Photographer? Make up and hair (they have a salon there but...if anyone has used them or has any feedback on their services that would be greatly appreciated. What kind of items do I need to be brining there as far as the ceremony and reception? Just finding a place with the available date has been so much work in itself, and just like everyone else my time is limited as I go to work FT and am pursuing the Masters in the evening with school. Talk about a stress diet that will keep my thin for the wedding . I am going to try and continue to stay as active and invloved on this site!! Conrats to everyone who is planning their special day as well!

I just posted on my original newbie post beofre I realized there was a place to post about the wedding. Here is how it went for us. Thank you! -------------- Hola!!! (see? I can speak some spanish now! I wanted to write a quick follow up. My BIG day has come and gone. We were married (eloped) on Flamingo Beach in Costa Rica. Everything went perfectly. Our wedding planner was Catalina Cuervo from C.R. Referrals Travel. (www.costaricavacationexperts.com). They are located in Costa Rica and Catalina is the owner. She personally plans each wedding herself from what I was told. Catalina did an amazing job lining up the photographer, the officiate, and even arranged a candlelight chefs table on the beach. We had a private waiter and the head chef attending us, it was like it was from a storybook. We wanted something romantic but simple. We wanted to spend our money more on an amazing trip, not just all on the ceremony and Catalina made it all possible. From the moment we landed, we were taken very good care of. If you ever get to read this Catalina, Thank You! (I already sent her like 4 messages thanking her I found this website late in my planning but I did get some valuable advice in my reading. We ended up having to fiddle with the dates a little but it all worked out. Thanks to the encouragement of others, I did bring my mothers wedding dress and was married in it. She is no longer with us and this was so important to me. Thank you for your comments regarding the dress in another post I had done, it made it there and back again in one piece. I like to dream of my own daughter maybe using the same dress someday. 3 generations married in my family with the same dress would be wonderful. First, I need to have a daughter, we are working on that Here is what we did on our elope/adventure May ~15th ~ Day 1 ~ Arrival ~ Liberia airport • Private Transfer to Playa Flamingo - this took about a little over 2 hours to get to the resort • Flamingo beach Resort – Honeymoon Suite - Right on the beach, we loved the attention to service they had. May ~16th ~ Day 2 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,D) • Catamaran & Snorkeling Tour - A lovely catamaran tour. We had hoped to see whales but did not, we did see dolphins and huge Manta Rays jumping out of the water! The sunset was beautiful and it was a nice introduction. May ~17th ~ Day 3 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,Private dinner on the beach) • Wedding Day!!!!!!!! • 2:00pm Couples Massage - who does not like a massage? • 3:30pm Hair & Makeup - This was handled by the resort and coordinated with our wedding planner Catalina • 4:30pm Photographer - We had some pre ceremony photos, during and after • 5:20pm wedding on the beach – ceremony - We had some touch and go moments on the weather, but in the end we got the beach wedding we wanted • legal wedding officiate - arranged by Catalina • 6:15 Wedding Dinner – private chef’s table on the beach - This was magical, this was an 8 course tasting menu prepared by the head chef. He personally delivered each course along with our private waiter. I felt like royalty at this point in the day. May ~18th ~ Day 4 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,D) • Buena Vista Combo Tour - This was an adventure day. The tour included several fun activities including horseback riding, canopy tours, hanging bridges, volcanic mud baths, it was heavenly May ~19th ~ Day 5 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ Arenal ~ (B,L) • Private transfer to Arenal - this was a long transfer, about 5 hours almost with a stop we made for lunch and at a road side fruit stand. • Check in Silencio del Campo – cabin/villa - Loved, loved, loved this small hotel. It has hot springs that are heated from Arenal Volcano, wonderful volcano views, it was just lovely and so nice to soak in the hot springs each night. May ~20th ~ Day 6 ~ Arenal ~ ( • Safari Float - A nice river float, we saw monkeys, sloths, many birds, it was a nice relaxed day. May ~21st ~ Day 7 ~ Arenal ~ (B,L) • Canyoneering & River Rafting - This was our final day of adventure. It included rappelling down waterfalls in the rainforest and then rafting down rapids in a river! It was an intense day but SO much fun. Both my HUSBAND (love saying that word now) and I are nature lovers, and adventure seekers. This was the perfect ending to our Adventure/Elopement/Honeymoon May ~22nd ~ Day 8 ~ Departure ~ ( ~ Liberia • Private Transfer to Airport - The trip back to the airport took about 3 hours. I am waiting on the final photos from the photographer, that is probably the only negative. We have the preliminary photos, they look good but I want to post the final touched up pics when we get them. It should be soon, there is a 3 month turn around on touched up final photos. To anyone wanting to get married or elope in another country, do it! The entire trip cost us about $6000 with airfare. We calculated getting married back at home, after the venue and wedding plans it would have cost us a fortune, the way we did it we had a wonderful celebration of our love and had money left over Thank you for your time in answering my questions and bless everyone who enters into marriage, I hope your lives together are special beyond words. If I can help anyone with any questions I would be more than happy. XXOO, - Photos coming soon!!! Cassidy
