Hi all! I was hoping to get some insight from those of you who have had a wedding at the Grand Palladium Vallarta, another Grand Palladium Resort, or attended any! I am still quite a few months away from our wedding, and we don't have to make any more major decisions until 3 months out from the wedding. It isn't that easy to get a hold of the onsite wedding planners, so I can't really get the answers I'm looking for from them. I am just not really sure what to expect on the wedding day. We are having our ceremony at 4pm, and are paying for a private reception. I am not sure what this "reception" even means on a resort. If anyone can provide me with some details that would be great!!! For example, -I don't know where on the resort this will take place; -how long we have: is it just dinner, or do we get a dance afterwards too; -is alcohol included with the dinner (open bar style? or how does this work); -do people do speeches at these types of receptions? does the resort provide any microphones/sound system for us? If you have any of these answers I would appreciate any help Thanks in advance <3

Written by LATIN ASIA - Destination Wedding Decor Your wedding is certainly one of the most special days of your life, a day that both you, your husband-to-be and the rest of your family & friends are going to remember for years to come. Whether you’re celebrating in a ballroom, terrace or at the beach, there are bottomless opportunities to include personal characteristics into the details that reflect your own singular style and tastes. Here are three tips that will help you create a wedding experience that is totally "you." 1. Identify one or two elements of your personality that you would like to reflect. Don’t get crazy and try to include hundreds of different traits that identify you. Better yet, focus on one or two elements that truly represent you. Are you a relaxed and worry-free woman? Then start with easy seating arrangements. Assigned arrangements during the wedding ceremony and reception are highly regimented, so why not to offer your guests the opportunity to seat themselves? Simple right? It makes for a more festive and relaxed situation and you will save yourself from hours of pondering whether or not your aunt should be seated next to your cousin-in-law. 2. Selecting Your Wedding Colors. Your wedding colors will be visible throughout the details of the décor like linens, centerpieces, lighting, favors, and you can also incorporate them in your wardrobe and even with the flowers in your bouquet. The idea is to create a look that is consistent. If you are a high energy and fun person, then go for bold and bright colors with unusual combinations like bright blue and yellow for linens, or you can wear those beautiful red high-heels you love, they will look amazing with your ivory wedding gown. 3. Think outside the box. If a big part of who you are is your love for movies, you don’t necessarily have to decorate your tables with stacks of DVD cases or film rolls but you can have fabulous white and black table settings, simple but elegant white floral centerpieces and lovely table names with your favorite films of all times. What aspects of your personality would you like to insert into your big day? Hello everyone! I am looking in getting married in November 2016. I am barely starting to plan it but there are so many places. What is a nice cheap resort in cabo that includes everything I need for my wedding? I'm planning on having about 50 guests. My budget is $10,000 do you think I can plan something nice with that amount? Has anyone gotten married in cabo. If so which resort and how much did you pay? My guests aren't planning on staying in the resort. They are staying in cheaper hotels. I am open to other ideas but I my dream wedding is on the beach. All I care about is the ceremony, music and food. Please help! Feel free to send me pictures emilychristine92@@gmail.com

Here are some details about our wedding and a few questions about an AHR. Still not sure if this is right for us. - We invited 180 guests to our DW -- all close family and friends (big family!). There will be approximately 60 of those people attending. We know that lots of people could not get the time off work, could not afford the trip, or have little kids which is why they were unable to attend. - We are thinking about having an AHR, but I really don't want it to be a 'reception'. At most it would be a casual come and go afternoon event, with light food, self serve drinks in dispensers, cupcakes, etc. It would be more so a way to see the people who were unable to attend and make them feel included. - Future hubby and I are both from 'City A', but now live in 'City B' which is 6 hours away. We have friends and family in both places, but 80% of them are in 'City A'. If we have an AHR, does this make 'City A' the best choice? (just asking because it would be so much easier to plan in the city we live in) - How do you handle a casual come and go event like this? - Do we have to include wedding reception type things like a guest book, decor, etc? I am honestly just thinking about renting a nice hall with minimal decorations, and making it a casual standing event. I dont know????? Thoughts?!?

Hi ladies!! My Fiance and I are getting married at the IRHB on January 17, 2017! I have seen some photos of the different ceremony locations but mostly of the Beach ceremony. Has anyone been married on the terrace or in the gardens with photos? I would love to see them as my fiance and I dont feel like stomping around in the sand but want the romance of the gardens perhaps.... Also, we are opting on a private restaurant for dinner and the pictures I have seen are also very difficult to tell what sort of decorations I could bring / use without the place looking silly. Is there enough room for a dance floor and DJ as well as all of the guests and dinner tables!? I am beginning to stress as I just want to be able to see what everything looks like set up!!
-
Has anyone used DJ Encore? He is the only DJ that Juan Carlos can recommend for Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun but I cannot find any reviews on him. I have seen reviews for other DJ's used at our venue but none for their "house DJ." Please feel free to leave any recommendations for other DJ's as well! Our wedding is March 12, 2016 so any help ASAP would be amazing!!!

Hello there! I am getting married at Azul Sensatori May 2016 and would like to know if anyone had any issues with having their reception in the ballroom? I would like to have it indoors so that my guests can have some AC! Does anyone have any pictures to share of their ballroom reception? Do you know if the decor in my attached picture is included in that?

Planning a wedding at the Riu palace? I am willing to share my experiences in hopes to make your experience a little less stressful. Feel free to ask questions. Our WC was Lupita. Unfortunately, they switched WC on us half way through the planning. There is not a lot of communication. But don't be upset. As it gets closer, they'll reach out. In the meantime, email and be persistent. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a jacuzzi ocean front suite. It was absolutely stunning! We chose the Caprice Package. Total guest count including us was 68. The resort does not offer a rehearsal. Be prepared to conduct your own. I googled what to do, then personalized it. I strongly recommend arriving with a plan to do it yourself. Rehearsal dinner was at San jose Mexican restaurant. It was perfect. Great view! Great service! Highly recommended. They reserved the entire outside terrace for our party. We were allowed 40 ppl. Our ceremony was held at the San jose gazebo. It's very romantic and secluded. I will say though, off to the left, looking out, there is another property with cars and cement poles in view. It's ugly. Our photographer did a good job trying to capture the ceremony without the clutter. All in all, I wouldn't change my choice. I liked the gazebo location. We opted out of floral bouquets. I had 6 BM and 6 GM. My sister and I made our own artificial bouquets and boutineers. I loved them. No extra cost to bring your own. Be sure to plan ahead with your music selection and have it readily available on an iPhone or other device. Our officiant was great at communicating prior and giving us options for the readings. I personalized it and added our own vows. He was accommodating. The day of ceremony, he did good. But veered off what I wanted as romantic to something more funny. I personally didn't like that, but my guests did so I was ok with it. Our reception was held at the Baja Norte. Perfect spot!! Highly recommend! We chose the plated dinner. The resort was accommodating when we asked to have 3 choices. We provided a seating chart and our own decorations and center pieces. We weren't able to coordinate or communicate with the DJ prior. I was disappointed about that but came prepared with every song I wanted and printed out a timeline of special events I wanted to take place. (First dance, cake cutting, etc.) I arranged to have an MC, so the day of, they communicated and made it all happen. Weeks later, the DJ emailed me audio files of all the speeches and music and never chsrged us for his services. Can you believe that? We opted out of a photographer from the resort, but hired our own. Surprisingly, we were never charged a fee. Our wedding surpassed our expectations. I reccomend the Riu palace to you all. Please reach out if you have questions I might be able to help you with. I also have tons of pictures. I will personally email, if you'd like. Good luck planning your special day! Xoxo

Hello! I am now 100% confused by STD and Invitations since we have decided to have an at home reception .... We will be getting married June 10, 2016 in Playa Del Carmen with our families and a small group of friends. After we return, we plan on having a larger reception with our extended friends/family at an undetermined location. I want to get our STDs out to our wedding group so they can begin planning, but don't know how/when I should then send invites to the AHR guests. I don't want people to think that I am not inviting them at all, I just have not made official plans for our reception at this time. What is the best way to handle this?!

Hello dear brides First of all I want to thank many brides who helped me and supported me on my planning: Murmel, Girlinthecity,Calgarybride (Kim), repax !!! I gotta say to all of you "thanks so much" My name is Lina, our wedding was on April 10th, 2015 and I will do my very best to summarized our wedding planning and wedding day. It is really hard to shrink an entire year of ideas, planning and things in one post, but we will do my best A bit about me and my husband: I am originally born in Colombia and he is American-Irish. We met in 2011 after each of us ended a long relationship, he was previously engaged and I was in a relationship that was long enough and going endless. We met at work in our corporate jobs and the best man in my life was there,...my best friend. My hubby and myself lived together since 2013 Engagement: It was a regular day for me March 1, 2014. We did not celebrate Valentine's day because we had bad snow. Tim left me a note to scratch all plans and invited me to a winery for dinner to celebrate our postpone valentines...I smelled something was going on but I did not want to think or expect anything. I had plans to run errands that Saturday and all was changed. When we got to the winery, he had all set in a booked suite with roses arrangements and champagne Tim invited me to walk on the golf course and after a while told me he needed to tell me something! on his knees he proposed his love to me!! it was so emotional and I was so happy and the begging to the best day of my life! Visited in May these resorts: Dreams Tulum, Dreams Puerto Aventuras, Playacar, Moon Palace, Azul Beach, Azul Sensatori, Generations Riviera Maya, Grand Porto Real (Playa del Carmen) Most wanted: Dreams Tulum, Playacar and Sensatori. Which we selected: Azul Sensatori for the great reviews of Karisma chain and the location to go to Cancun and Playa. My first choice was Dreams Tulum but it was about 2 hours from the airport. I wish I knew before we booked: More options to do a off resort wedding and still gather a group in a resort (I did not know my options) Company used: Destination weddings...I recommend! Miami planning feedback: No comment. Now the planning started: Wedding colors: Coral and aqua blue (aka Tiffany blue) Save the date: We did the regular magnet stamps: invitations: we did passports in English and Spanish and two designs. If you want to see the inside please ask me and will show you it was lots of work because the template did not include anything for Sensatori and I had to search, proof read and translate for the Spanish passports. Tip: manage your budget and invitations is a way to cut costs. Do not go too fancy! Dress(es): This was such a crazy time for me!! It brought me tears and loss of sleep at night. I live in NJ and visited many stores here and in NY. I was like too demanding or basically I did not like anything. I ended spending more than I wanted because I ended with 3 dresses, but I was a happy bride on my wedding day. I had one dress that I never worn, another that I used for our catholic ceremony and another one for Mexico. PLUS 2 more dresses for the reception. I ended using only one ...yes crazy!! Note: I am selling my dresses (reception, wedding and bridal). you will see pics as I keep showing my planning. Tip: DO not let the bridal store convince you on the dress you are not 100%, they need to sell and you need to be in love with your dress. If you buy too early you will have second thoughts!!! I guarantee you thins one! A bridal store will tell you 8-6 months before the wedding...it is NOT true, I had stores contacting me 3 months and 2 months prior to the wedding. Bridal Shower dress: His family had a shower for me because my sister lives in Mexico. Ceremony: We had two ceremonies. One was the catholic here in NJ for our family only and the second in Mexico with families and friends. Bridesmaids dress: I had 6 (2 were his sisters) each paid for their dress and I chose one affordable at David's Tip: Try to avoid drama by not choosing his family members in your wedding party (if you do not feel like you want...just dont do it) Gifts for the bridesmaids: a Kimono robe (all blue and I was white), flip flops made by myself with the initial of their name on the button, a tank top with rhinestones made by myself "bridal entourage", a pair of barefoot sandals did not make myself, a set of jewelry to use on the wedding day and a necklace with each of their initials that said "I could not say I do without you" Flower Girl: some toys and the following to our niece. Mother of the groom and bride: basically the same as the bridesmaids and the handkerchief (the pic below is not mine just the message is what I chose), to my mom it was in Spanish because she does not speak English Father of the groom (my dad is deceased ): bottle of scotch (super expensive) Groomsmen: each had a customize gift from beau-coup.com and some alcohol (we shipped to them before we departed) Best Man: custom made sterling silver cuff-links with the shape of boxing gloves, because he loves boxing. Maid of Honor: the dress (I paid for it) and the same as each bridesmaid. more planning... Photographer: Sarani weddings (not Sarani Studio) yes she is more expensive. We have not received our pics yet, but will do soon! and will update with my professional photos. booked Sarani in May 2014 and did not look much because we loved her work when we visited her. Sarani is such a sweetheart and very professional, I am so happy we booked her and even though we dont have photos yet, I know we will be happy!! We also had video with Sarani. We paid the vendor fee and that included one vendor per day, not per person. Sarani came with 3 more people (shooter and assistant) all were 4. DJ: I booked in June 2014 DJ Doremixx with Ivan the main DJ and owner, I had paid deposits and basically planned all with Hugo and Ivan. Ivan was going to be my DJ, but in January 2015 I was advised by Karisma that I was not allowed to bring him or any other vendor because "policy" had changed. That was not true because I kept seeing Doremixx playing in 2015 at Karisma resorts, I never knew that the deal was but I was unable to bring Doremixx, I put tons of work and emails on that, even spoke with a Karisma director in Miami, I was not getting a "no" as an answer and basically lasted for a month. Ivan Gomez and Hugo Gomez (his brother) were communicating with me all the time and they were supportive. I had tears over a DJ because to me music is very important, I contacted many brides for help and it was so big to me. I am Latina and big into dancing salsa, merengue, etc..so I had all planned with Ivan about the type of music I wanted for the wedding day!!! We even considered to move the reception and ceremony over to Arenika, which is a beach club near Sensatori which is within walking distance and gorgeous, I contacted Weddings on the beach and Natalia was amazingly helpful!! unfortunaltely this brought lots of confusion to me and when we decided to move the wedding out of Sensatori we called Arenika and the place was booked. It was just no meant to be. We ended with the vendor at Sensatori, we got the DJ with MC and his name was Fernando. It was "all right", people had a good time, but I would have expected better, I know that you might think I was pre-set in my mind about the DJ and honesly I was not, that DJ is just ok! their equipment is SO OLD!!! but still I think of my wedding day as a magical day so I do not regret! Learned experience: you wont always win while planning, things wont be perfect but be happy and compromise! TTD: Yes, we hired Studio by the Ferry! Makeup and hair: I hired Michael and Martina from Beso Brides. No, they did not come inside the resort. After the headache of the DJ I did not want another. I booked a room in Puerto Morelos for $80 per night after taxes. I met with them there and it was the best I did, no regrets and I was okay leaving the resort, every bride is different and that was not a big thing to me. I wanted airbrush and at the resort I was not sure with their expertise. Martina and Michael prices were much more reasonable, I was on time back at the resort with my 3 bridesmaids and mothers. Bouquet flowers and button: Flowers for my bouquet: I knew I could not do touch or fake flowers and because I love expensive good looking things, I compromised with cheap flowers and I do not regret. I realized that nowadays ANY wedding gets so expensive, Karisma weddings are NOT cheap and all adds up quickly. BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF MY PLANNING: come up with welcome bags and reception decor!!! Welcome bags: I started reading and reading and making orders and money started being spent!! After 3 orders I realized I did not have a theme and all was all over the place with colors and designs. I wanted to read more and found several templates BUT each of them were for that specific bride. I needed to do something only for me that would call my name and his name all the time. I am good with designs and my brother also, so we sat down and decided that we would create an entire wedding theme with our colors and one exclusive design. Maybe the idea of the items were all over in every page and board I read, but the designs were only mine and I did my only designs. for my decor I wanted something more "beach relaxed", colorful and bright, I knew I did not want silvers or golds. Tip: decide what type of decor defines your personality and location. Do not start spending without a clear idea of what you want because it will go to waste!! My brother and I created and designed the entire logo, theme and all for our wedding decor and stationary. We printed, cut and finished all ourselves. It was lots of stress and work BUT it was worth the effort. Our designs came out really nice!!! I would LOVE to do this for another bride who wants to have a unique theme and logo like I did. I do not have templates, we used a design software for this. In Mexico: The Azul Sensatori wedding department is absolutely amazing with their work!!! They do this top notch and they are SO PROFESSIONAL!!! they amazed me and everyone! Welcome dinner: We did it at Spoons the night before the wedding, the dinner for the group is inside the restaurant, but made it very private where everyone knows this, they give you wedding menus and decorate nicely, no need of stress here. We had some Mexican souvenirs for the tables which ended working perfectly, because they had Mexican night as the theme night LOL. The bride is ready to walk down the isle: Ceremony: I selected Memorable moments, Vitange collection but had to go white because they had blue or orange that did not match my decor. I requested to have roses dyed with aqua blue and coral roses Wedding party: Over the rainbow was the song and the seating song while guests waited was "three little birds" Here comes the bride and ceremony: I walked with "I choose you" by Sara Each chair had a fan and a bubbles (we also customized this) then pronounced: Mrs and Ms. MORE TO COME SOON!!! COCKTAIL HOUR, RECEPTION AND CATAMARAN (I will post now because I don't want to lose all the work I did for hours) I have tons of pics to share for ideas!!

"Don't just do a regular First Dance, that's so booooorrrrrriiinggggg!" Yes that's what my own mother told me as we were planning our Wedding. She urged, no actually pretty much begged, that we do something fun to surprise our guests. Well, little did she know we had already been planning to do a surprise dance, but in order for it to be a true surprise, I had to keep it a secret from her too. So instead, I did my best to make her believe a surprise dance was just too time consuming to plan and I just didn't have time for it. Let me tell you -- mama was disappointed LOL. But lo and behold, because we flew into Mexico a week before our wedding, we were able to spend a few nights choreographing and practicing our first dance surprise in our room when everyone was asleep (we stayed in a villa property that housed 30 members of our family). My husband and teenage daughter even spent about an hour in the pool teaching me how to Dougie (hahahaha, I'm serious!). And guess what, when the time came to do our first dance, I remember seeing my mom at the corner of my eye kinda roll her eyes and pout in her seat because according to her, we were just "so booooorrrriinnnnggggg." But when our slow dance music cut into some booty shaking music and we broke out into our routine, all of our guests went wild -- including mama, she was probably cheering the loudest. Yes, we gave them a show and it was pretty darn awesome to see everyone cheering and giving us a standing ovation. I say all this because if you're contemplating the idea of doing a surprise First Dance -- JUST DO IT. It will honestly be the best gift you can give your guests and well, the photos and video will be priceless for decades to come! Click here to see some surprise first dance inspiration on YouTube! Pinata at the reception? Is anyone considering doing a pinata for the wedding reception? I saw some pictures and it looked like sooo much fun but I'm worried that it might either get overlooked or cut into dance time. I found this gorgeous pic online. I love the bright colours that it brings! It looks like it would be so much fun and we could totally fill it up with things from Costco etc etc. Anyone considering doing one?

Hello lovely brides and brides-to-be! I am thinking of having sparklers at our wedding. We get married this June in the Mayan Riviera. My idea was to have everyone light up their sparklers during our first dance. I am going to make little tags that say "let love sparkle" or "let amor sparkle" since we are trying to do things a little "Spanglish" Does anyone know where you can buy Sparklers in the mayan Riviera? I'm guessing the Walmart there would have them?? But just wondering if anyone else has succeeded with this. Also, for any past brides, do you think the sparkler light up would be distracting during the first dance. I don't expect everyone's undivided attention but I'm hoping that for pictures there are enough sparklers to make it pretty. At least for sure it would draw a crowd that way. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hello, I've received some vendor information from my WC for Beach Palace but when reading the forums, I'm learning of additional approved/ preferred vendors. I thought it'd be good to list them all in one place so that everyone can be in the loop! Please add vendors that you know of and your experience with them (communication/ pricing/ final results). Thanks! My Visit To Azul Fives Hotel, Riviera Maya
andreaberretta posted a blog entry in Step by Step - Azul Fives Hotel 2015
Hello Brides! I had the opportunity to visit the Hotel before booking it, and I took pictures of almost everything, I'm in love with it, it is really pretty, clean and modern. I also got the opportunity to eat there and try some of the drinks and cocktails, the mojito with mango is the best !!! And the food is really really great, I highly recommend the menu I got or change it for salmon instead of meat: 1. Bisque de tomate, croton de queso de cabra al aceite de albhaca 2. Filete de res en mantequilla de vino tinto con risoto a las hierbas y zanahorias 3. Flan estilo México con caramelo y Mousse de Fresa Hope you like it!- 2 comments

Ok so, my fiance have about 50-75+ guests coming to our DW. So we need a resort that has Wedding group benefits, similar to Sandals/Beaches, Hard Rock Resors, Karisma Resort, and Palace Resorts. Has anyone gotten married/attending a wedding at any of these? Are these the only options available?

I hope I am allowed here as I am the mother.... Still deciding between a few resorts, but our heart is on RPRM. We will have well over 40 and would probably have a private reception anyway. Questions, Where on property do they set up private receptions? How much per person for food and alcohol? DJ cost? I have sent request to resort as well, just looking for a price list. Thank you, jwjw

Hello Future Brides, So I have been looking at other posts regarding Grand Coral or other off site venues but I haven't seen anything newly updated. I recently changed my venue in the beginning of this year. Right now I am in the process of securing my venue. Would love to hear any brides that are doing an off site venue or past brides that have dealt with Grand Coral. Would really appreciate the feedback. Many thanks, Bev

So my parents are paying for our at home reception as they were the ones who wanted to have it. My husband and I paid for Mexico and did all of that, so they are taking it on as they want to have one to invite their friends, show us off (their words, not mine) However, they wanted to have it April 18th (We got married November 11th of this year) as it's after Easter so hardcore old school Ukrainians don't get upset and so that the roads are better. I honestly think that it's too long after the fact and that it looks bad to have it 5 months after and I am feeling pretty crappy about it and what people will think.. Has anyone else had there's this long after? What was the feedback? I have already put my foot down and told them I am not wearing my dress again as it's too long after and that we aren't having a head table or speeches or the dances again. So we have kind of compromised a bit. Thoughts???

I know many brides have chosen to have their reception outdoors and the pictures look beautiful. However, it is very slim chances of finding indoor reception photos. Please share any photos you come across in the resort ballrooms to help give inspiration and tips to other brides. Can you please share the name of the resort and ballroom name in the post as well. Thanks!

I am beginning to work out some details for our AHR. I know we want a DJ with dancing and just a fun celebration, but I'm wondering about including some of the traditional reception things. Are you guys still having a 'first dance'? It won't technically be our first dance since we will go dancing while we're at our DW. Are you doing a traditional cake cutting? Again, we will cut our wedding cake in Jamaica, but very few people will be there. Speeches? We won't have a bouquet toss or any of the cheesy dance songs, like the cupid shuffle, but I just can't decide on some of the others! HELP! What are you all doing?
