We don’t understand if Palanquin created these dresses especially for Doris Fight it out, but, considering there's a patron quantity and particular fabrics mounted on the styles, it is actually highly likely these were styles only open to serious couture clients. A additional clue in to Doris Duke’s patronage is really a receipt through 1938 by which she bought 26 products from Palanquin with regard to 81. 650 francs. Looking via (as well as ooh-in as well as aah-in more than) each one of these amazing styles made all of us wonder that they would possess stacked up inside a show such as Project Runway. For many brides, the Wedding Day look includes more than just the dress, it's also all about the shoes! But your shoe choice also depends a lot on your wedding location, obviously heels aren't the best idea if you're planning on getting married on the sand. Hi Everyone - I am selling my once-worn but like-new wedding dress. Here is my posting on preownedweddingdresses.com or feel free to contact me directly. https://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/view/153204 It is the Katie May Lanai gown. I paid $1,800 total for it and I'm selling for $1,100. The only alterations I made was having it hemmed (I'm 5'5" and had it hemmed for 2" heels) and putting in the bustle - so it could easily be taken in or out for it's next owner if needed. Payment through PayPal and I can cover shipping costs. (More pictures at the links above.) Happy to answer any questions!

I remember when I began planning my wedding about 8 years ago and having such a tough time finding the perfect wedding garter when I'd visit any bridal shop, it just didn't seem like there were many choices outside of lacy and satin. I was personally searching for something very pretty and fun, that wasn't tacky, but also personalized so I knew my hubby-to-be would love it too! These days, you no longer are limited to the garters you see at the bridal shops because there are a plethora of vendors online that can actually create a garter suited to your exact taste and vision. I swear, I don't know how I would survive without the ease and convenience of online shopping! Click here to view a variety of wedding garters offered by Etsy creatives. There are so many options from lacy to sparkly to sporty and fun! * Wedding Finds is a BDW feature that will highlight special little finds or ideas that may help you along during your wedding planning journey. Hello brides, I have a dress that I ordered and when it came in I really didn't like it anymore. It's Kitty Chen Florence. It's a beautiful dress just isn't the fit I really wanted. It's a label size 6. Its corset back and will fit 0-8 I think. It's ivory but almost white. I had the neckline changed to sweetheart and a bustle added. I didn't alter the length or anything else. I think it's organza. The fabric is really light so don't worry about travel :-) Here's the link where I have it listed, but because I'm trying to get money for another I've seen, the price is negotiable: https://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/view/148140 Please let me know if you're interested! Thx!

Hello fellow brides! I'm sure this topic has come up a million times, but I'm wondering if it's acceptable to wear almost a ball gown type of dress to a destination wedding? I'm getting married at the barcelo maya palace march 2016. I was originally looking for a mermaid style dress but fell in love with this one. Thoughts?? Too much? I'm not sure why I look sideways..oh well you get the point.

Has anyone looked into or actually ordered dresses from Azazie? They are a California company, with product produced in China. You can order standard sizing or custom sizing at no extra cost. The web site is great and easy to navigate. Swatches available for order. Turnaround is quick. Prices are reasonable. Coolest thing is that you can order sample dresses to try on for the cost of shipping (total $10 per dress). Sadly that perk is only available in the US, not Canada. They also will credit you some $ if your custom sized dress needs alterations! They have some wedding dresses, but tons of BM dresses in up to about 60 colors in a variety of fabrics. Also mother of the bride and coordinating accessories, including ties & pocket squares for the guys. I've found some reviews and they are mostly very positive, but wondering if anyone here has any direct experience with them. Seems they are a newer company, maybe around for about a year? Shipping to Canada is definitely more expensive (of course), but a little worried about taxes & duties. Someone posted on the Azazie web site that it cost them $268 in taxes and duties?!? Which I believe was more than the cost of the dress. Anyhow, I really like the looks of their product and they seem to have the color I want (will order swatches to be sure). Very interested in trying them out!

As a wedding photographer, I absolutely love documenting all the day's special little details -- things that the bride and groom have carefully included as part of their entire wedding experience. One of my favorite parts of the day happens early on, when I get photograph all the bride's beautiful details, namely The Dress -- yes, The Wedding Dress. One of the things I always remind my brides as they prep for the Big Day is to make sure they have a pretty hanger to use for us to hang their dress on, something that compliments their dress. I especially love the personalized wire hangers that have become popular bridal gifts in recent years. These not only add some extra flair to Wedding dress photos, they are the perfect memento for the bride! Click here to view a variety of Wedding Dress hangers offered by Etsy creatives. There are tons of choices perfect for every name, style and budget! * Wedding Finds is a BDW feature that will highlight special little finds or ideas that may help you along during your wedding planning journey. BRIDESMAID DRESSES: Ordered 6 months advance. My girls are quite short so will need to be shortened. I wanted to find dresses with a slit in the front like my wedding dress has. I originally picked eggplant for the dress color. I switched last minute to midnight blue which is basically Navy. SHOES: Needed wedges as the ceremony is on the beach. Found these on justfab.com. $75 for 3 pairs. I know they are gold, but I'm hoping they won't make a difference. Necklace/Earings/Bracelet: THE BAY! $90 for all three sets. Love!! ROBES: La Vie En Rose 3 for 1! SUN HATS: Walmart $9 - Navy $5 - White

I got this dress when we started wedding planning the first time, but a deployment altered our plans so we ended up postponing the wedding for a few years. I ended up gaining wait and no longer fit into this dress, otherwise I would have been thrilled to wear it. Pictures don't do it justice. It is white with silver appliqué and beading. Very simple A-line strapless dress with the petty coat to go underneath. I paid over $700 and I am selling this for $399 OBO. This really is a gorgeous dress and I wish I was able to wear it.

This is one of the three dresses I bought prior to my destination wedding. It was never used so it is still new, in the original box, with tags. Beautiful, simple lines with ivory lace. David's Bridal, Galina, strapless trumpet style dress. This would make a great destination wedding dress, or for a TTD session. Original price was $950, selling for $199. You can find reviews on this dress at this link: http://reviews.davidsbridal.com/7294/DB3748/sy9501-lace-trumpet-with-tulle-overlay-and-beaded-lace-appliques-reviews/reviews.htm Sorry, this is a size 12 dress never altered.

Wedding Finds: The Bridesmaid Convertible Dress
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Style & Fashion
Bridesmaid style isn't what it used to be. Gone are the days of awful bridesmaids dresses that go straight to the thrift shop donation bin once the wedding is over. Dresses these days are fashionable, practical and beautiful. I for one, wanted to make sure my girls had something to wear that was pretty, practical and affordable. But I also wanted to make sure they each had something they could use in the future, beyond my wedding day. A quite popular trend these days is dressing your bridesmaids in different styles to suit their body shape and frame, according to what looks best on each individual. Because let's face it, not every style looks good on everyone. I think the convertible dress is also a great option for the Bride to wear to her rehearsal dinner or even as a reception dress for those late-night partying hours! The convertible dress is absolutely one of my favorite bridesmaid dress styles and fortunately, these days, there are tons of options -- from affordable to pricey -- to choose from. Two Birds was one of the pioneers when it came to the convertible dress, but Etsy also has an awesome selection of convertible styles. Just make sure whatever line/designer you decide to go with to check on production/turnaround times and for a thorough understanding of the different ways the dress can be styled! I wore this incredible dress to my destination wedding this October. I have sent it in for an extensive cleaning (worth $250) so the dress is in perfect condition. It has been altered slightly (shortened) I am 5'7 and honestly I could have used for it to be shortened even more...I did not want to lose any of the train. it also has a French Bustle (which you can decide to use or not) added from Anna's Alterations (adding $75 in value) It was purchased at Anjolique Bridal (Charlotte-Huntersville) and retails for over $1300. It is V-neckline, sheath, 2 piece gown with charmeuse satin lining and lace applique overlay. Lace overlay is adorned with embroidery and crystals. I chose the ivory lace with the cafe satin lining. Label Size: 6 Bust: 36 Hips: 38 Label Size: 6 Waist: 25 Height w/shoes approx: 64 inches Photos with blocked out faces are the dress listed/ I've also included the manufacturer photo as well (1) .Paypal only. Email Sehausle@@gmail.com or P M me. PAYPAL only.

I FINALLY went dress shopping today for my June 11, 2015 wedding. Unfortunately, the bridal shops I went to didn't have the specific dresses I was hoping to try on by the designers they carry. I guess I should have verified that ahead of time - rookie mistake! The dress I really wanted to try on at David's Bridal is brand new and they don't have it in any stores yet to try on. They said I could order it and if it doesn't work out they will let me return it for a full refund so long as it doesn't leave the store (so I'd try it on there). But because it is a new dress they expect that will take the full 16 weeks and that won't leave me with enough time to get something else if it doesn't work out. There is a relatively similar dress in the same line that is a top contender as well, though I don't like it *quite* as much as the back on the one above. If they were the same material I could maybe assume that the new one would look just as good and take the risk and order it, but one is satin and one is chiffon. Ideally they'd let me order both at the same time and just keep one, but I think I would have to have some really strong persuasive skills to get them to agree! But it might be worth a try. Has anyone had an experience like this? What would you do? Is it just far too risky to order a dress without having tried it on?

We are eloping in Costa Rica in less than a month! I have my mothers wedding dress and I am on the fence about taking it or not. I am concerned about how to travel with it, will it be too cumbersome, will it be safe, I keep second guessing it all. My mother sadly is no longer with us, I love the idea of wearing her dress but at the same time I would be mortified if anything happened to it during my travels. We are taking the honeymoon on the same trip and I am questioning the wisdom of taking the dress with me from destination to destination. Any advice would be appreciated. If I dont take the dress we have talked about just wearing casual nice clothes but I just don't know. This is one of the last sticking points in the trip plan. I am reading the forum and trying to find some advice. Thank You!

I found my wedding dress at Wedding works in Ingersol Ontario Canada! It is a ivory mermaid gown with all gold embroidery ????. As soon as I tried this dress on I knew it was the one. It's not like it screamed at me, "IM THE ONE!"; but it sure came close ????. I was able to buy it off the rack which gave me a weighted veil for free! I was an extremely happy girl to say the least ????! I found my dress last March and have gone every couple of months just to try it on again and again LOL! ???? I couldn't be happier with my find!!

5 Tips For Selling Your Wedding Dress Online
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Style & Fashion
I have a confession to make. After spending about two years planning my wedding and having the most wonderful wedding experience I could ever imagine, coming home to the reality of the end of wedding planning mode was uite an adjustment for me. Honestly, I went into a period of depression and sort of stepped away from anything wedding-related. I was sad and "missed my wedding," if you will. And as a result, things like getting my wedding dress cleaned and preserved in a beautiful box as a special keepsake for my children didn't ever happen. In fact, (here comes the confession part) my dress is actually still in the garment bag I brought home from Mexico almost 7 years ago -- Unwashed. Dirty at the bottom. Probably has sand on it from my Day-After session on the beach. And yep, there are probably a few champagne stains on the dress. I honestly couldn't tell you because frankly, I never opened the bag again. For all I know, someone on the plane could have pulled a switcharoo and I could be carrying a white boa and an astronaut's suit in there Hahahaha jokes on me! I say all this because I probably should have gotten my dressed cleaned immediately and considered selling it. It was a beautiful dress and frankly, now that I think of it, I would have loved for it to have been worn by another bride and hey I would have been happy getting a little return investment on top of it as well. With the ease of the internet these days, selling your wedding gown after the Big Day is really common. And when you post your dress online it's virtually getting eyeballed from potential buyers from all over the world. Some of the most popular sites to sell wedding gowns include: eBay, Craigslist, Wore It Once, Nearly Newlywed, Once Wed, PreOwned Wedding Dresses, Tradesy, Smart Bride Boutique and Still White. But before you sell, it's always good to comparison shop on the sites, taking into account their listing and commission policy before picking what site is best for your needs and profit expectations. Here are five important tips to consider when preparing to sell your wedding gown, according to DailyFinance.com: Timing: Wedding dress sales peak in February and March, the best time to list your dress online, according to Terapeak, an e-commerce data tracker for eBay. Slowest period for wedding dress sales is between Thanksgiving and New Year's. Dress condition: Time is not on your side if you want the best price, so list dresses as soon as possible while they're still in style. Some brides even pre-sell their gowns before their wedding day. Never-worn will reap the best price, while once-worn with no damage is a close second. Dresses older than three years are a tough sell, while vintage dresses from the 1980 and 1990s are popular. Listing info: Include designer, size, original price and a detailed description of style and extras like beads, pearls, crystals and sequins. Be honest, which informs buyers and reduces return rates. Pictures: Buyers want to see what they're getting, so don't skimp on pictures. Take photos of the dress in its entirety on a hanger; close-up photos of detailing like lace, sequins or unique pattern; back views including labels, zippers and clasps; and shots of damage, if any. Keep the background plain so your dress and details stand out. Best-Sellers: Typically, plus-sized, short, lace, white and ivory gowns are top-sellers. When you write a description, use those keywords in the headline or listing body. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. The DRESS!!!!!!!!! To be honest, the whole dress shopping experience process was a little difficult/sad for me. My mother had passed away a few years ago and while I have grieved and gone through the healing process, I knew I would always be very sad about her absence if I ever were to get married. I was never the kind of girl that thought about getting married, or envisioned what kind of dress I would wear so it was overwhelming to start looking. I got engaged on Valentine's Day 2014 and I didn't start looking for dresses until September. My wedding is June 20th, and I suppose I'm cutting it close. I was told that in order to guarantee the arrival of my current #1 pick dress by April, I'd have to order this Monday. So Monday it is! Thankfully I have amazing friends, my sister and Mother-in-law who have been extremely supportive and have come with me to my appointments. It certainly helped not to feel as sad that my mom isn't here for this epic occasion. One of the dress fittings I attended was just myself and my sister, and we walked in, saw a dress, I tried it on, and there were tears....!! I was soooo in love with it and so sure it was the one. I decided to think on it...I think it's the one. For some reason I feel like I could find something better. I don't know if that's just normal and part of the process. I will post a picture of #1 choice and some of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices. Any feedback would be welcomed. Is it normal to feel like this unsure? It's crazy. lol I do love my #1 but I still keep thinking about what else could be out there. Here they are! #1 fit and flare (david's bridal) #2 Ballroom gown (kleinfeld's) #3 A-line flar (DB) #4 Fit and flare - cream (DB)
