  1. I've received quotes from a few people that make real touch bouquets. Most are coming in around 150$ for a 10" bouquet. I'm defiantly going that route. I can spend the $50 elsewhere. There are lots of vendors for them On etsy and most will customize the bouquet to you exact specs.
  2. I'm not a fake flowers kind of girl but when you consider the price the resort charges and that you rally only get them for one day fake seems like a better option. And I'm really shocked at how far fake flowers have come. They truly look real!
  3. Have you considered using real touch flowers? I've been looking at bloombridal.com they are in Toronto. They aren't "cheap" but at least you can keep your flowers after the wedding, they are beautiful too!! Ellie is in Toronto. In the same office as Laura.
  4. Ellie told me that. Has anyone else been dealing with Ellie? I think it's funny that everyone is getting different answers
  5. I agree! Rant away! That's what this thread is for, helping and ranting lol! I'm sure when I get closer to my wedding date I will have lots of "rant" posts too. Why do have to use Tai flora? If you pay the vendor fee why couldn't you use someone else? I asked about bringing in a makeup artist and was told I'd have to pay the $450 vendor fee to bring them in HAHA! That's not going to happen!
  6. Wish I could see them. So very far from 150 posts.
  7. Love coral! Planning to use coral and turquoise in my wedding
  8. Hi Pamelas21. Yes you can add the Jamaican Experience to the free wedding package. That's what we will be doing it really does seem like the most cost effective way of having a wedding. But I do agree with CherJK, the food choices are no surf and turf. Here are the choices Apps Beef patties Jamaican jerk sausages Codfish & Ackee canapés Dinner Menu Salad-garden salad Soup-pumpkin soup Main course Jerk Chicken curried goat Escovitched Fish (??? No idea what this is) Plain Rice / rice and peas Rice Plantains Sweet Potatoes Dessert Coconut Pudding / assorted seasonal fruits Banana Mousse I think the menu is the biggest downfall of this package. I also asked if there was an additional setup fee for the package and her response was. With the Jamaica experience we can host this event for you at the beach or poolside. 20 guests are included within the package - additional guests are $50usd per person to include them within this package. Also with the jamaican experience there is no location fee - it is all included within the package price. It is highly recommended should you wish to host a private reception. I'm not positive but it would be worth looking into the possibility of changing the menu to suit your needs. I'm sure they would charge extra though... We have rates of $1748 per person for 7 nights (from Toronto). Your rates are going to vary greatly depending on which month you are travelling. January-March is going to be the most expensive time to travel. It usually gets less expensive during the summer months.
  9. Thank you so much for all the updates pamelas21! Wow your really n the ball! I've sent out my invites, I didn't bother with Save the dates. We have a small invite list and most people were already aware of our plans. I'm now looking forward to taking a little break from the planning for a few weeks The only pressing issues for me are choosing a photographer and going dress shopping I'm having a hard time with the photographer. Almost everyone I've received quotes from are available for my date so I need to make that decision very soon before they book other events. Have you ladies chosen a photographer yet? And Merrick Clousey sent me his packages. They are going up in 2015 because the prices he gave you are way lower than the price list I received
  10. http://www.tropicalweddingsjamaica.com/ check out this website. I had a travel agent reccomend them for off resort weddings. Happy planning
  11. My guests list including my fiancé and I is up to 34 people. I'm estimating less than 20 people in total at the wedding. I'm also doing the "free" wedding and adding on the Jamaica Experience. I'm really hoping to keep our wedding under $10,000. I think my biggest expense will be pictures. Thanks to the girls on this thread for pushing me to looking into external photographers You were right! It is better than the RWS photography packages Pamelas21 have you received pricing from Merrick Clousey? They are the only photographers that haven't sent me pricing.
