  1. Woah that's mad!!! :-D great minds think alike :-P It was the same for us, we wanted a day that had meaning for us, and like that not birthdays or NYE :-)
  2. I don't think it would be too pushy to send out a reminder... I think people put booking on the long finger, if they think they've lots of time... its frustrating, but I know I've been guilty of it:-( ! Sending out a reminder would just spark people's memory, and put them into gear! :-)
  3. Oh definitely go for it!!!!! You'll want to look back on pictures of that! It will be so romantic, just the two of you!!! If you want music when you're walking down the aisle m go for it, u don't want to look back and say ` I wish we had done this or that.... `
  4. No problem!!! Hope the grooms shopping trip goes well!! Looks like things are coming together! :-) Thanks for the dress advice, you're so right, my heart was just not in the first dress, I mean its a lovely dress, just not on me ;-)
  5. Yeah feel so much happier now, it was in the back of my mind for a while, and I eventually said it to my sister, who brought me dress shopping a week or so later... I had a preference for the second dress, when I posted this, I guess I just needed a second /third opinion... that I was doing the right thing Lol :-) :-D
  6. Danielleandryan2015, i'm so sorry to hear about your Dad, my Dad passed away in March of this year. I'm doing something similar with my Mum's wedding dress, I'm taking some of the embellishments( little fabric flowers, that were attached to the sleeves) from her dress and attaching them to my ribbon/waistband. I never really knew my mum, as she passed when I was a toddler, but I'd like to think she'll be with me on the big day, also I'll have my mum and dad's photo's on a locket, to honor my dad too. :-)
  7. Glad I could help...:-) I think the shorts are perfect... once you see it all together, you'll get a better idea. It's a beach wedding, so the men can defo dress slightly more casual! And the teal is perfect for an ocean side wedding :-). We went for cadbury purple( its my favourite colour... poor Gary didn't get a choice!). The blue diamonds sound cool, very nice touch!!! :-)
  8. Oh you are so right!!!!! Totally went for the dress, cos I thought, its pretty, and inexpensive... oh its like you can read me ha ha :-) the first dress I got was in Monsoon, and I had always pictured myself in a Grecian/ floaty dress.... but now that I'm actually planning, I've a different vision of how I'd look.... the second dress is gorgeous, sadly it also has a big price tag... I'm getting a local dressmaker, to make up a replica of it, for half the price :-) really excited to see it when its all made up!!! :-)
  9. I love the teal and white!!! I think definitely the stone waistcoat, it would work really well with the teal shorts a white shirt, I think a white waistcoat against white shirt would be lost. Are you having bridesmaids in teal too? :-)
  10. Oh that's great news, I'd say you're relieved to hear that! Yeah of course send me the colours, happy to help :-)
  11. We're not going to be staying together, I'll stay at the hotel, and he'll stay at his Parents place.... my sister will come up to my room and have girly night! :-)
  12. I'd say you can probably change your mind as you go along, at the end f the day, they are there to make your day as special as possible, I'd talk to the coordinator about it, I'd say it happens all the time! We have to pay our balance 30 days before hand, but I guess if we want anything changed, it should probably be ok.... must check with our hotel.... What about a blue waistcoat? To match the shorts? Or white? I I have most stuff decided on, just a matter of pulling it all together really, I've left a lot of the planning to my fiancé's mum, she lives out in Jamaica. So she's been doing a good bit of the work for us! Its been hard, because I love having control of plans... :-D
  13. Wow DawnBP sounds like you're all set to go!!! Has your hubbie to be got his suit yet? I know that next and Zara are doing Linen trousers and shorts... we're getting my fiancé's stuff there... Congrats on the weight loss, that's an amazing achievement!!!!keep up the good work!! :-) my dress is in the process of getting made, I won't get it finished until just before I go too, the dressmaker insisted on this, she said my weight will prob fluctuate... I'm hoping down , rather than up !:-P We're getting married the 30th December, in Jamaica. You'll be surprised how much you'll change your mind as time goes on... I have already( think that's the problem with starting planning too early!) :-) :-) good luck with the rest of the planning, keep me posted!! :-)
  14. Condolences to all of you who've lost someone close to them. Weddings are an emotional time, and they remind us all of loved ones, who aren't there. I'm planning to put my parents wedding photo on the guest book table, and I've debating the locket idea for my bouquet... it would be nice to have them with me when I walk down the aisle ( my sister will give me away) . Has anyone done the locket idea, and if so where did they get it done?? Thanks :-)
  15. Stuck on you - Lionel Richie 2 rasta's sang this song to us, the day we got engaged :-) means a lot to me and my fiancé
  16. I've been asking my fiancé about this... its traditional to give the mothers a bouquet of flowers during the speeches in Ireland. Its not the case for Jamaicans, I think I'll probably give his Mum something small on the day, not during the speeches though. As for my parents, I'm hoping to get a silk flower bouquet( identical to mine)so I can place it on their grave when we get back home.
  17. Hi there, I've never stayed there, but I have heard its a beautiful hotel, and its on the beach... there is another riu very close to this one... and it looks to be in better condition... the tropical palace looked a bit shabby back in December, it looked like it needed a paint job but I can't speak for the interior.... or the grounds.
  18. Congratulations!!! Everything will fall into place! This forum is great for ideas and reviews!! You'll be surprised how much you can get done in a short space of time, we got a huge chunk of planning done in a matter of weeks, so now all we've got to do is the invites, legal documents, and some other small details.... good luck, and have fun planning :-) :-)
  19. No, but u did consider it, I emailed them and got a reply on the same day, I replied the same day.... and got nothing...turns out it would have too far for many of my Fiancé's family to travel( they all live down in Negril /sav-la mar)... so I never went any further... it does look like a really nice place though!!
  20. Its been the same for me, I have had to send emails twice to get a reply... also not having total control, and having my future in-laws organize hasn't been easy for me to do, I am a serial worrier!!!
  21. We will be together 6 years on our Wedding day. We've been engaged for 2 years.
  22. I'm bringing little picture frames that I've embellished with butterflies for the tables, a ring cushion, the guest book, sparklers, bubbles, purple ribbon to tie around flower girls dress, silk flower petals, the cake topper, a Mr and Mrs sign, the flower girl basket... think that's it... we're getting a local vendor to supply the linens, and centre pieces.
  23. I had two dresses, but I'm selling the first one and keeping the second one, its a 1950`s tea length dress, so it'll be light enough to dance in :-) :-) I just loved it so much I want to wear all day :-)
  24. Excellent advice... I didn't do this last December when we went to Jamaica, I ended up wearing jeans, a thermal vest a snow boots for the first day of my holiday... :-( I'm taking no chances this year, will be bringing clothes in my carry on, a well as wedding bands!!!
