  1. Well I didn't realize the reason why until I read this. Can't wait to hit the magic number!
  2. I'm sorry that you are upset during what should be a high moment for you. I think the other ladies are correct. You should begin planning on your own. Let your mother know you have selected the venue & have your guest list ready. Your sister is 100% wrong but try not to let her knock you off your square. (That may be her goal.) Hopefully it all comes together. No need to focus on your sister and her lack of obligation to her MOH duties. Focus on you and your love. Karma has a way of solving things on it's own. Best of luck, Hun!
  3. Awwww! I hope everything works out as planned. I feel that way now and I have two months left. Can't wait until it's all over and I can relax on the beach with no cares! @@kmk2016 Thanks. I saw that thread and intend to look into those places.
  4. @@csho Exactly! I knew I couldn't possibly be the only one doing this. I guess it's common. Wow! 10 days away... are you excited, nervous, anxious, ready, ALL THE ABOVE???!! Iberostar is beautiful.
  5. I would talk to the person to work something out. Usually, if you bring a photographer with you, it is assumed that you will pay to bring them (flight & room). But I believe they work more than just the wedding. I take photos myself (did a DW last May in Mexico). But we have three separate photographers (family) that are attending our wedding. I know they are taking photos all weekend for us and making slideshow DVDs for free. So almost every moment & all 50 guests will be photographed. We have the best support system ever!
  6. Did you make this as business cards that will fit in sleeves and you'll attach loops? Or did you make actual luggage tags on vistaprint? The latter was more expensive so I did mine the first way. I still have to get loops though.
  7. @tygrrlilly I like the idea of cigar roller at the welcome beach party. I may do that. Would be a nice touch. @@kmk2016 I was totally thinking about the cigar breath for the wedding if you do the roller there. ewwwww! After our wedding, we're doing a beach bash afterparty with sparklers, glow sticks, music, open bar, party food. Will be a lot of fun! We also have some awesome prizes to give out there. Examples- person that traveled the farthest to come to wedding, couple that've been married the longest, first person to rsvp, etc.
  8. Okay. We were on the same wavelength... Unfortunately I can't see your pics but I'm working on getting to 150 posts. You're from the tri-state area so I'm sure they're nice!
  9. I was worried at first and expected about 30 guests because the costs & people just have other commitments. Well, we have 50 guests confirmed as of yesterday. Two more just booked yesterday afternoon. We have to keep readjusting our budget and the number is more than we imagined so we're thrilled. When I was concerned in the beginning, people kept telling me "The important people in your lives who are meant to be there, will. You can't worry about the rest." It's so true!
  10. The other locations are just as beautiful... If the beach isn't part of your dream, don't do it. I know I want to be barefoot walking in the sand but I'm a bohemian type of gal so it fits me. I'm sure you will be just as happy in your fabulous shoes. It's still the destination so pics will be beautiful.
  11. I made my save the dates and rsvp's to save money. But I ordered the invites. If you aren't a DIY person. The best bet is probably to order so they come out professional looking. Hunt around... You can definitely do 100 invites for under $200. Vistaprint is really good & always has coupons and sales. Love the engagement pic!
  12. So, I am planning on wearing a mermaid/trumpet gown for my ceremony and then changing into another (less expensive),shorter, less formal dress for our reception so I can really party and dance without being so restricted. Our reception is on the beach. I love both dresses and will have photos in both. I'm feeling like it probably is a bit excessive but the second dress isn't that much and I will be able to wear it again. My fiancé is fine with it because he knows how I love to dance. And he wants me to enjoy the reception as much as possible. Hopefully people won't think I'm being too much of a diva. If we were marrying at home, I still would do a change... Is anyone else doing this?
  13. Go with your heart! You will still be thinking about that dress if you don't get it. Possibly you can cut corners somewhere else in the budget.
  14. Congrats! You have chosen a color that will be easy to coordinate within your wedding. This site is awesome. Explore it often.
  15. Yes it is! When I began, I had a vision and used Pinterest a lot. But this site has so much that has helped me out. People on here are very resourceful.
  16. Haven't tallied up the entire thing yet since we marry in June but a rough estimate would be about $9000. We have 50 guests coming. That's including dress, trip, reception, OOT bags and such. That's definitely cheaper than having a wedding & reception here in Philadelphia. We have three family photographers in our group that will be doing our photos so we saved money on that! And will have lots of awesome photos.
  17. Cute topper. Thanks ladies. I was looking for someplace to get a personalized topper.
  18. Wow! Didn't know they posed such risks. Sparklers are very pretty & much safer.
  19. I agree. There is no wrong material or dress...it's YOUR day so you get to do and wear whatever you want!
