  1. I am selling my left over OOT welcome cooler bags from my Cabo wedding. These were a total hit and some of my guests still use them as an insulated lunch bag at home! They were great for the beach. I have 10 to sell, $4 each plus shipping. Located in Denver, CO so could also deliver locally. Email [email protected] if interested! Thanks!
  2. My fiance and I just decided to add this to our budget and signed a contract last week for our Feb 27 wedding. I did talk to quite a few of my friends and all said they wish they had done it, or they had done and were so glad they did. Not one person I talked to regretted hiring the videographer or felt like it was money wasted. Given that both my fiance and I are pretty sentimental people, we figured spending money (even if it put us a little over budget) on a keepsake that we will have forever was worth it. That being said, the reason I even started thinking about it was because we came in quite a bit under budget on a few other categories and also my mom wanted me to do it bad enough she is going to help pay for part of it. We also thought it would be nice to share with our grandparents that recently had to cancel their travel plans due to health issues.
  3. We originally wanted to do a sunset cruise for our rehearsal dinner as well, but it didn't work out since 2 of the groomsmen (one was my fiance's brother) were arriving the day before the wedding and it would have been cutting it close to get them to the rehearsal and on the boat in time. It seemed like too much of a rush. So now we are doing our dinner at Baja Brewery which is located on the rooftop of Cabo Villas where most everyone is staying. There is also a location downtown. We are doing a taco bar that cost $26/person, not including alcohol. The dinner cruise I was looking into was the Sun Rider... it would have been about $43/person for about 55 guests, which we thought was great price for food/drinks included. We will probably still do the dinner cruise the night before the rehearsal, for those that can make it but we are not paying for it.
  4. I have him booked for my wedding in February as well, so far he has been great to work with. Very quick to respond, and very reasonably priced!
  5. Lauren- Who did you end up going with and what package/how long? I'm considering a 3 hour package with Jorge Ibarra... just curious what you did. Thanks!
  6. Feb 27th, 2014 at Casa Dorada in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico... about 60 guests!
  7. We booked at the Baja Brewery on the rooftoop of Cabo Villas Beach Resort. The majority of our guests are staying there (getting married at Casa Dorada next door, but I own a timeshare at CVBR so the rates were much better). There is also a Baja Brewery restaurant in the marina downtown. We are doing a taco fiesta buffet for $26/person. We are not paying for an open bar ($12/person/hr) but we may pay for one drink for everyone on a tab. The dessert includes a root beer float (root beer from the brewery) so we may just let that be the drink
  8. Thanks for all the great ideas! I ordered the bags in black and made them for Cabo San Lucas. I'll probably have about 15 left over if anyone wants them -- $100 for all 15. PM if interested.
  9. I was thinking about giving bottles of vanilla for favors. I originally wanted to buy the vanilla in big bottles in Mexico and then pour into smaller bottles with a label with our names/date, etc. I found a thread that talked about making your own vanilla, so I may do that instead... but either way I'll need empty bottles. I had a really hard time finding empty bottles for this purpose and I came across this site and thought I'd share... http://www.containerandpackaging.com/catalog/plastic-bottles/7/ You could also use them for OOT bags, to put sunscreen, aloe, hand sanitizer, etc. in. I probably won't do this since I already purchased these things and there isn't a huge savings, but it may be worth it depending on what you put in them.
  10. We are paying for the girls dresses and shoes... not sure yet about the guys. I was originally going to but wanted to get less expensive suits and now after talking to the groomsmen they would rather pay for their own and have a nicer tailored suit. So we are still figuring that out. I would like for it to be even for both the GM and BM, so we may pay for part of the suits (same $ for dresses). For the girls dresses though, I actually got them at target online and they were really affordable. Also, my mom is paying for my dress so it was easier to buy for the girls. Total for all 6 BM dresses, 6 shoes, my dress and shoes will be under $1000 which I think is pretty awesome I think it's possible to pay for them if you want, but just look at places other than bridal stores for better prices. I just felt bad asking my friends to spend so much on the travel and also have them buy the dress... and it helped that I found a dress I liked for a great price.
  11. This is so cool! I was thinking of just buying the vanilla in Mexico and pouring into mini bottles. BTW, anyone know where to find the mini bottles? I'm having a hard time... I wanted 50 mL amber plastic bottles, but maybe with this recipe you could do clear bottles so you can see the vanilla. Any help is appreciated!
  12. Flo- Any word back on flower quotes? Are you having them quote your arch as well? Curious to see what the price ranges for that...
  13. So the trip was awesome... we ended up just going to Costco and taking a look at their flowers, which were beautiful! They sold them by the bouquet, just like in the US. If you aren't too particular, this would be a great option, and were about 115-130 pesos per bouquet (about $10 each). I did not end up going to a flower market... If anyone is able to do this or has done this, please respond to this post as I am still interested in this option! For my cake I did a tasting with Deena from Sweet Dreams and it was AAAHHHMMAAAAAAAZING!!! I was told I could pick 3 flavors, but I couldn't pick just three and she let me do 5. All of them were good, so I decided to do mini bitesize cupcakes in 3 flavors so everyone could try them all. I will do a small one tiered cake on a stand to cut. Up until the tasting I was almost considering skipping the cake since my buffet includes dessert, but the cake was to good to pass up and I like the tradition of it. Also, I love food, especially sweets so it was a done deal. I was ablet to trade out the desserts on the buffet for appetizers, so it all worked out. I did look at cakes at Costco prior to the tasting, and they also looked tasty and were 150-170 pesos and looked like they would serve around 8-12 per cake. This would be a great (and much less expensive) option as well. I did speak to a florist while I was there, but have not booked anything with them yet... I'll probably have them do my arch. We are doing a DJ only, and planning to play some recorded music that my fiance's dad and brother will record for the ceremony (they are both musicians). We would have really like them to play live, but since his dad is the officiant and brother is the best man, it would have been too much. Also, I didn't want them to feel like we were putting them to work at our wedding! One thing I really want to find is 1.75 L bottles of Malibu and Cazadores... so if anyone can find the big bottles (in any liquor) let me know! We could only find Captain Morgan in this size at Sam's Club... Caboberrybride - when and where is your wedding? How cool that we will be there at the same time
  14. Does anyone have a fabric swatch they would be willing to sell?
  15. Thanks for the feedback. I think I would like to stick to black or tan, mostly because I feel like I would be changing my color scheme if I do gray. I just need to have my FI try on some suits for me (he has both tan and black) and get an idea. I'm leaning towards black suit for him, and then black suit/vest for the GMs with a matching tie to the BM dresses. Still not sure if I would do white shirt or tan, but at least I can narrow it down a little. I knew in my head that black and tan would look wierd... I just have a hard time choosing! Also, since my wedding is in February it's not like it will be blasting hot, so linen may not be necessary. I'm also having 3 ring bearers that all have black tuxes already from previous weddings... so that would be a plus. FYI, for those that want just pants (no vest/suit) Kohl's has a Marc Anthony line that has different colors of linen pants for $28! I was trying to make these work but ultimately I want a little more formal look so I will need a matching jacket/vest. Although I might snatch a few pairs for my FI to wear while we are down there
  16. I have a question -- I am having a tough time deciding on what the guys should wear. My FI loves to wear black and I think he looks really good in it. (I have seen pics of him in a tan suit... just don't like it as much). The colors I have decided on are teal and tan/beige/sand... so this makes me think I should have them all wear tan. I think I want the groomsmen in tan linen pants with a white shirt and blue tie (matches the BM dresses). So if I had my FI wear black would that look totally off? Has anyone seen this before? I can't decide... I kind of like the idea of us in black and white and everyone else matching each other (BM's and GM's) and think it will look good individually, but when all of us are together... not so sure. Ahh... I feel kind of rushed bc all of the linen pants and suits are now on clearance bc it's the end of summer. Any help is appreciated
  17. Hi Everyone! I am getting married 2/27/14 at Casa Dorada Beach Resort on Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. My mom and I are going to Cabo in 2 weeks for a site visit and was wondering if anyone could throw out ideas for things we should be checking out while we are there, or any particular vendors to recommend. We are planning to meet with my wedding planner, the hotel's wedding planner and a few DJ's, florists, and do some food tasting at the hotel and also for the rehearsal dinner. Also planning a trip to Sams Club/Costco/Mega to see what we will be able to buy down there before the wedding for decor, OOT bags, etc, etc... Is there anything I am missing? I want to get some of it lined up with my WC so we can be efficient, but we are going to have a little vacation time as well. Thanks!! Tori
  18. Just found these yesterday for $25! Woo hoo! I might go ahead and get them for my bridesmaids as well. I think they are super cute and perfect for the beach!
