  1. Hey Mya could you email me this pdf? I cannot download attachments [email protected] WEDDING INFORMATION NOW SAPPHIRE 2013.pdf
  2. Hi ladies! I am looking into any and all resorts right now. Sandals is absolutely beautiful, and I was wondering how some of you ventured through their packages. For instance, the free package has colors I love, but no dinner (reception) included. However, I'd be willing to customize another one of the packages to have colors I like (e.g. exchange the flutter of romance pink for PURPLE! LOL).. Has anyone had any experience customizing their package instead of doin a pre arranged one? Their customizing allows you to choose your own colors. I'd love to know how the cost compares to have a free package + add ons versus customizing your own from scratch. Thanks!
  3. This is a wonderful thread! Joyce was kind enough to respond so quickly to my inquiries, and recommended H3R as a great location for our wedding in 2014!
  4. Thank u! I`ve been using this cite to its full extent over the past few days, I wish someone could just pick the resort for us!!!!!!!!!! lol
  5. What a gem it was to find this thread! I am also in Alberta (grew up in New Brunswick) and my fiance and I have just begun this process as well! And although I'd love to have it on the beach itself, the idea of onlookers half dressed surrounding us doesn't feel ideal lol. I am also looking for a private reception area for up to 50 people, so thanks for brining this up! Joyce - thank you for your note, and I will be emailing you as well if that's ok!
  6. This is wicked, lots of canadian ladies up in here I'm from new brunswick but good ol' Alberta is now home rebecca, awesome review, thank you for that! In case you don't see this, I'll PM you about some q's I have if that;s ok! Katie
  7. hey Bridebabe, thanks for including her email! My TA gave us quotes for Bavaro and we love, love love the modern feel to this resort. I was wondering about prices for having a private reception function for our wedding, and emailed Maria to see if she had some rough estimates on what we would be looking at!!! thx for your info;)
  8. Holy moly I'm vibrating with anticipation of what venue we choose for a 2014 wedding lo! I was wondering if any of you could offer your thoughts on what - resort - resort wedding package was the best bang for your buck with a guest list of 40-50 people. In looking at all of the packages, trying to decipher what surcharges would add up to depending on how many guests, etc....i thought I would see if anyone has planned and executed their wedding plans at a resort that had what they deemed to be a great deal (for this large of a party). Our priorities are: - keeping guest budget 1500-1700 (this has become harder from my travel agent's standpoint) - having a dinner for guests - having a semi-private area for reception (I absolutely love the pics I see when people have their own area set up) - I know this is extra but I would love to know what kinds of "deals" you have found on this - keeping budget to 15,000 I honestly have come to care less about having a lot of decor set up for wedding/reception, but we really want to just ensure we are going to have a nice area to do speeches, dance, and enjoy the evening. Several packages include service for 2-3 hrs, and I was wondering if any of you know whether this means that people need to LEAVE the private area after this point? or can you hang out and do your own thing for the evening if you want? Of course this will differ from resort to resort - AGAIN WHY I AM ASKING IF ANYONE HAS GONE THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCESS! I hope this all makes sense, can't thank you all enough for the info you've already helped me out with!! Katie
  9. HI katya, As luck would have it I just came on and found this post from you after I emailed you about pricing lol! My fiance and I were wondering about this recent change in policy for Larimar, but your post clarified that we can at least STILL BRING someone in (it will just cost us some extra money). Thank you, and I am sure you hear this lots, but your work is amazing!
  10. MyTye, thanks so much! Indeed tHe email my TA SENT me from the vendor was that any photographers we bring are considered as part of the wedding party. I am thrilled to see that other people here have loved their time at this place! Thanks again for your help!!!
  11. Hey Sweetheart Aggie! I think we may be twins from different counries lol. I am also quite tall (5'10), muscular (aspiring competitor) and am in love with backless dresses, which I want for my own wedding I love the Caprice by Maggie Sottero, and absolutely LOVED the one you posted!!! Phenomenal. Do you know the exact make of the dress? Also, with the people you listed (e.g. enjoy wedding life), are these ebay sellers or websites themselves? I'm looking to have a dress made (likely the Caprice), and have loved reading about what resources you guys are looking into!
  12. Hey ladies! So exciting to see some people getting married in march/april of 2014; my finance and I haven't set a date yet, but this is what we are aiming for! Our dear friend and experienced agent has heard back first from the palladium, so I went to check out the videos etc on the website. The virtual tour is so nice! Although the vendor only sent the agent an intial email, I am wondering about a few things, and how you guys worked around it: - the photographers they hire for weddings - do you advise using them so you don't have to pay for your own photographer that you brought with you? We are bringing our own, but if we use the resort's photographer, we won't be charged the 500 dollars for "outsourcing" - with the awesome packages (love the variety!) - are any of you having more than the 6-10 guests? These packages seem so small! We will have at least 40, and was wondering how you guys made out with extra dinner plates etc for reception? - what did you all do for dancing/djs? I see that the resort in mayan is fairly close to the "downtown" life so if anything, we could have a dj until 10 and then just head downtown to continue the party. What kind of costs did you have for dj services if applicable? - overall, how did you find dealing with the resort was? I am full of q's lol
  13. Mlite83 and Yazmin, thank you both SO MUCH! Since making this post, things have cleared up substantially, and we are still in the process of getting quotes from our dear friend who is also our agent (so nice to know we have someone we trust to do the best search for us!). Again, your feedback was so helpful. We most definitely will be having everyone stay at our resort, and have budgeted for 1500 for each guest. Mlite, we are in Edmonton, so it's neat to see what other fellow canadians are looking at for resorts and pricing! We will be having a large party, and I do imagine at least 40 will show; which means more plates to be paid for individually I suppose, but eithr way, we are still waiting to get some quotes before we get too worked up;) I've solidified a top 3 for photographers, we are meeting one company (2 girls who are best friends!) this friday, so pumped! Again, thank you guys so much. I will be posting and following along closely here, I've been gathering so much info over this past week, it's so exciting!!!!

  23. Hi everyone! I hope the planning is going well for everyone This is my first post in here, and I hope I don't come across as a "bridezilla" though my queries here Going to try and keep this short (not one of my strengths lol)... Got engaged last Saturday, and am over the moon about getting married to my partner. Being the type A, neurotic, lovely individual I am lol, I started looking into DW asap. This was something I started to envision for us over the past few yrs. This past week we've gotten info out to our friend who will be doing travel/accom arragements for us. She is wonderful and I trust her to find a great deal. I unfortunately fell into the trap that many of us do when we envision the DW - we think it "will be cheaper than stayin at home". We plan on doing our wedding in Mexico. My friend provided a story for us tonight that made me you know what in my pajamas....She brought up things like extra dj fees, extra fees for more reception service after the 3 hr mark provided in their wedding package, etc...She stayed at the palace mayan, which was 5 star, and her wedding was 19000. I have done some major searching on here and loved hearing about ppl's budgeting. With that said, I was wondering if some of you could share your honest feedback about the following: - can we do a fun and well serviced mexico wedding for well under 20 grand? We have budgeted that each guest pays no more than 1500 (preferrably) - we have 50 ppl we expect to come, are there resorts you know of that have decent deals for ppl this high? (I UNDERSTAND THAT MANY RESORTS OFFER THE WEDDING PACKAGE FOR FREE WHEN YOU HAVE A LARGE WEDDING PARTY. HOWEVER, THEY ALSO CHARGE YOU PER PLATE WHEN YOU ARE OVER THE DESIGNATED NUMBER IN THE PACKAGE) - What are the "sneaky extras" you recommend watching out for? For instance, my friend's reception package offered 3 hrs of bottle service post reception. She therefore had to pay for hrs of extra service ($13/person!!!!) until 12am, because ppl obviously wanted to party on the beach beyond 9pm (reception was at 6)! Furthermore, she had to pay to use the resort's generator when the DJ was playing. lol! I've been quite emotional tonight as I begin to realize that I've painted a certain picture for my fiance that this DW would somehow be "easier and cheaper", when I now know this is not necessarily the case. I am by no means a "debbie downer" but tonight I really wanted to get my concerns out to a group of individuals I knew would understand and appreciate how confusing this process can be! I am so thrilled to be getting married, and I know in the end my partner and I are what matter most. I appreciate any and all feedback guys, thanks for reading!

I am in the process of navigating through details for our Mexico bound wedding in March/April of 2014! I'm finishing up my masters thesis within the next few months, so it's been fun so far trying to stay focused lol! I am in the midst of finding a photographer for the wedding, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for people in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada?) I have loved the info to be found on the site, looking forward to checking things out more! Katie
