  1. I noticed the unique set up of the stones at the sunset gazebo! Love this!!!! We are there to at 4pm for our March ceremony; was this set up something special you requested? How neat looking!!! Thanks
  2. Nov2013maya - thanks so much for your feedback We are done with worrying about timing lol I had to eventually move on and I'm glad our plan seems suitable! Our MCs have the order of events, now they get to fly lol. I very much appreciate both your feedback and amanda's regarding spa services! I have been wracking my brain about them; my emails continue to bounce back with the spa, even though they can email me! I've heard quotes ending up being much higher with hair and based on your experiences that seems to be the case. We are helping the ladies with their hair/makeup (paying for either one or the other, not sure yet), so I've wanted to know what I'm walking into lol you know?? I value the feedback of getting a trial - I think my makeup would definitely be the item I'm most concerned about. I've asked the spa for pictures of previous brides. I will plan to do a trial makeup, so thank you guys again! PS we are doing the Chillout lounge as well and I'm so thrilled to hear both of you talking highly about this experience! Bah! March 8th is coming fast!!!
  3. amanda there were recent reviews of this in the grand sunset princess forum thread:) http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/22533-grand-sunset-princess-resort/page-172

Jaime & I vacationed at GSP last May & loved it so much we decided to come back for our wedding! I am just looking for some opinions. We are getting married fairly early in the day. Right now our ceremony is at 2pm. We are thinking about looking into pushing this back to 4pm or later. What would you suggest? We have our dinner set for La Fondue. Also I am deciding if I should make the flowers for my bridesmaids/groomsmen/mothers/fathers. I would like my flowers to be real, yet I don't seem to like the look of the 4 choices of flower we get to choose from. As far as flowers for the ceremony & dinner go, do I decide that when we arrive or before hand? One more question, what has seemed to be the best option for photography? I don't like the resort options. I would like to hire someone offsite & pay for them to come to the resort. We would also like the "rights" to ALL (most) of our photos, not just 20 or 30. If anyone has had an offsite photographer, did GSP have any problems getting them into the resort? Thanks for your time!! I really need the help Lacy Congrats Lacy! SO wonderful that you got to see GSP and fell in love with it. I cannot wait for our wedding in March :) With flowers etc you were likely given the form to fill out by your wedding coordinator (Memo!? MR. Guillermo)…On this form you indicate the flowers/cake etc you want. With your dinner, I believe if you choose the restaurant option that comes with the package, you have a set menu of sorts. We are at the chillout lounge and chose a buffet menu this past month. I imagine that your flower choices could be made pretty close to the date. I’ve never hesitated to send any and all questions to the coordinator – he knows it ALL! I am on same page with flowers, and decided to get “real touch†flowers made for our corsages, bouquets, etc. Our colors are purple, teal and peacock so nothing caught my eye with the resort’s options. All of our flowers have come to about 477 with shipping, which doesn’t feel too bad. We are not going with a lot of extras, so this was an area we decided to do a bit more on. I am using the resort flowers as my toss bouquet. The real touch flowers are cool because you can bring them to and from mexico; I like the idea of keeping my bouquet forever With photography, it was a whirlwind and months of deciding for us. In the end we went with Gonzalo Nunez and we love him without even meeting him. I’ve seen tons of awesome things about him and he can work within your budget and is quite affordable. Outside vendor fee for him or any off site vendor is 200 a day. Our trash the dress is outside of the resort so we are only paying 200 for the one day. Hope this helps! Other brides who’ve already been married there would likely have even more to offer.
  5. Hey ladies! QUESTION ABOUT HAIR AND MAKEUP - PLZ HELP! I received the spa menu for pricing on hair/mkeup and I've heard from several peope here that they tend to be very expensive. Right now based on the exchange of canadian to pesos, my bridal hair and makeup would only be around 131 dollars. I feel a little lost on this because they of course cannot quote you an exact price until you are there - did any of you send pics to the spa and see what they would quote you? Thanks!
  6. Hey peeps! Question about timing for reception - we are getting married at the grand sunset on march 8th YIPEEE! In planning the wedding programs and inputing the "agenda" for the reception, I am wondering what you guys think about order of events. Wedding is at 4, with pics to be done around 440 before sunset hits too much lol. We have the CHILLOUT LOUNGE at the GSP from 6-10, and my wedding coordinator suggested the following order of events - wecome cocktails, speeches, dinner, cake etc... I am guessing that between the wedding and reception people will definitely go for snack seeing as food is at their disposal whenever they want!!! If we start at 6, do speeches from 630 to 7 or so, then eat, does that seem ok? Thanks ladies!

  8. b21fly - Mrs. Brown - AWESOME REVIEW! I appreciated the detail you put into this review; our wedding is at the Sunset Gazebo on March 4th and we are using the Chillout Lounge for our reception. Hearing about Guillermo (who we call Memo lol) being so helpful is very much in line with how we’ve found him so far through email! Covering all details of a wedding from across the country can be very challenging but his humor and friendliness puts us at ease. All the best in your marriage!!!!

  11. These maraca posts helped me convince fiance they were a good idea lol! We are having a peacock type themed wedding with purple and teal, and had first considered wine and bottle opener ideas. However, these maracas from amols.com were just too cool to pass up! We ordered a pair for each of the 40 guests, in purple and the seafoam green! Only came to 123 dollars WITH 45 BUCKS IN SHIPPING! Can't go wrong. We're also attaching mini bubbles with tags to the wedding programs at the ceremony:)

  13. Love my peacock one from Cheryl at Gibson Garters on Etsy! I bought the larger one with 2 feathers to keep, our "throw" garter is a surprise for guests https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/118548336/white-lace-wedding-garter-white-stretch?ref=shop_home_active
  14. Hey ladies! I read the maraca questions about shipping to canada and phoned to inquire more. She said the shipping is given once you get to the check out where you put in your postal code. I did this and it shows 33 dollars, and my order would be 20 pairs total. I didn't see anything further about customs, etc., does anyone have history of a larger order and then issues with customs? the woman on the phone wasn't helpful with regards to "hidden" fees that could come along with an order this big. Any help would be much appreciated, purple and turquoise maracas would be awesome for our wedding at the GSP in mexico

  16. Gonna be full committed to this thread now, we are official on the peacock train with purple and teal!

  18. These are all such cool ideas! Any thoughts on a wedding with purple/teal and peacock accents? all ideas welcomed! We r doing chill out lounge at grand sunset princess and there are 8 tables it seems total. I think something cool for table #s would be great, then just doing a seating chart and letting people sit where they want AT EACH table would be fine. Thanks!!
  19. Hey ladies! Question for you pros Fiancé and I now have BM dresses down and the girls love em. We have strapless David's bridal dresses in oasis (essentially a gorgeous TEAL!). Our wedding colors are teal and purple with peacock accents Him and I have been talking about whether having teal dresses with the guys wearing PURPLE ties, would be ok. He doesn't see himself having colored vests, he would just stick with a grey suit for example and do a grey vest with white shirt. How do u guys think the teal dresses would look with purple ties? Or would u suggest doing teal on BOTH sides? Thanks for any and all feedback
  20. Hey ladies! So excited to share that after so many in between decisions, we decided to grab the chill out lounge for our march 8, 2014 wedding!!!!!!!!! We are pumped I've seen some neat chair sashes etc in some pics and was wondering in general whether anyone is getting married at GSP in the new year and would be open to leaving behind some items like sashes etc? Our Colors are purple and teal with peacock and although we don't have any decorations or centre pieces we r bringing, it would be cool of there happened to be some items from other brides that may fit for us too! I am happy to pay you for some items as well. Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!
  21. Hey! You know memo too!? Lol he seems wonderful, just struggle with getting answers out of him sometimes. The other gazebo may be possible, although I really wanted the sunset! Ill check into that, thx for idea!!! Yes Gonzalo is definitely a pro and I know he will help us through it all - when is your special day!!!
  22. Hey there! Thx for your response I posted this in another thread and got some great input about the 4pm idea, and appreciate your input too!!! our coordinator seems to think in march that sunset is a bit later than 530, so thats good to know...Our photographer is Gonzalo Nunez (so pumped!) and I know he will work with whatever we have Dinner is not set yet, as we are waiting on final wedding guest #s from WestJet this week!!! I believe we will choose La Fondu as well though, and I figured dinner would be a 6, like you! Definitely understand the speeches thing - I actually was told that no speeches or cake cutting could happen at dinner, but after seeing that ur party was able to do that I was like yay! LOL. But I understand that waiting until the BEACH PARTY for speeches is the best thing to do. We are still deciding what to do with the reception, but I believe we will end up doing 6pm dinner, 730 or so head to beach for reception (2hrs), with a dj/audio equipment so we can do first dance, speeches, etc. Thanks again for all of your guidance!!
  23. A Allie! Thank you very very much for your quick and helpful response. I've learned with this process that things can somehow work out, ya just gotta juggle some ideas around! And you've helped me see that:) so thank you! We will definitely look to do a first look, which I've thought about as being helpful regarding shots, and I think doing some bridal party shots individually would be great. I have no issue getting ready earlier! Plus I don't plan to need tons of time anyways:) I have emailed Gonzalo Nunez about the firm time we have, and I am also sure he will have some helpful ideas! Thanks again:)
