  1. Worn only once for my best friends wedding this year. Missing belt (one of the bridesmaids lost hers so we all took the belt off and wore the dresses without) :-) Paid $198 from David's Bridal, selling for $100 plus shipping. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
  2. I made sure I went with vendors that I found info on here about. I felt more comfortable knowing other brides tried them out before I did. ;-)

This was my main reason for taking sooooo long to get around to this journal....... lol that is too cute!!! CONGRATS!!! lol i'm laughing cuz i have so many personal friends that brought back honeymoon gifts :-)

I'm HUGE on do as you say. If the agreement said it would take a year, then I'd wait a year. Well, I would never book with them...but you know what I mean. I did my best to keep my thoughts to myself but could not it any longer. Trust me, my email to Paula was extremely kind and respectful. Lol I'm a business woman and I have great work integrity and take pride in that. I pray Rounald and Paula appreciate my honest feedback and strive to improve. exactly! well hope you get it this week at least. did you do a review?

Keep me posted and let me know how things go as I will let you know if Clayton comes through for me. Rounald claims he has been really busy and said during our wedding to give him 8 weeks. He never said that to us. We'd remember. I have contacted Paula (SunGold Photography) several times, who has, in turn, scolded him for his lack of communication and customer service to us. Apparently, this is an ongoing issue. I was afraid to express my feelings since we do not have our photos in hand. But as each week passes, I get more and more angry. I had money on account with Paula to order a wedding album. I have since asked for that money back and received it. We loved Rounald's personality and know the photos (God willing) will be amazing...whenever we receive them. Rounald said he "needed another week," which was a week and a half ago, when I told him we had a family get together and intended to show the photos at this event. That family get together has come and gone. I emailed Paula yesterday morning and asked her to have Rounald send us our pictures, even if unedited. I'm now at the end of my rope. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!! SO FRUSTRATED!! dang that sucks. what the heck does one do in that situation! initially i'd be nervous to let them know i'm mad and they turn around and do a terrible job at the pics, but knowing me and my mouth i would have done the same thing, complained to someone! lol i hope you get them back soon. and from reading alot of reviews it seems like many photographers do take a while returning the pics.

It was scorching after that tropical storm so it felt like time was moving slowly. The cocktail lasted for an hour after the ceremony. During that time we had the steel band which was worth the extra money. The reception was four hours. I believe it was from 6-10. Of course I did not have a watch on but we got back to the room around 10:15 so I am giving you an estimate of the time. 2. Jans flowers actually did the chuppa. We picked it from her book and told her what we wanted to keep and or change. I did not ask about the cabana as I wanted the hanging crystals and my wedding planner suggested that we also get the chandelier which I totally loved. I have a picture from a friend where the Rev is touching the chandelier will post it for you so you can get a better look. 3.Yes the lighting for the pool was different colors. We did not request it they just did it. 4. My wedding planner had confirmed with Seawind and the resort about the golf carts. They agreed to it but they changed it at the last minute and said they would only send one for the bride. After my husband walked over they told him they were going to send one for him too but hello it was to late for that he was already there. My planner was highly upset when I called her when we got back to inform her of the mishap. I actually gave her a list of things that they need to work on as she has another client getting married there in December and maybe they can avoid some of these mishaps. 5. I provided Jans with a picture of the cake. When I get a chance I will post a picture of it in my planning thread. My husband likes filling in his cake and I do not so I just had butter cream so thats why he probably did not like it but it tasted fine to me. They did a really nice job decorating the cake. I wanted bling around each layer and cascading flowers and they were able to do it. 6. Cislyn took over Cheryl's position. She was great to work with but like I stated earlier there seems to be a lack of communication between the resort and Seawinds. Just make sure you stay on top of them. And if you are bringing decorations make sure you provide a list for them because I did not get back my linen napkins or my napkin rings. I think they sent them back with Jans things. Of course if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask. thanks girl! yea i just wanted an estimate timeframe for everything at seawind so thats great. as for the lighting, yes i would def love to see the pics that showed your the lighting at the reception. i was thinking about getting an outside vendor to do additional lighting but i'll wait until i see your pics to see what comes standard.
  10. GO MIMI!!!! Everything turned out fab!!!! ok since me and you have pretty much everything the same i have some questions: (seriously all our vendors plus our colors are the same lol) you know i'm at having everything at Seawind as well. 1. What were the hours of your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception? 2. I saw your ceremony was on the beach and they did the chuppa for you. did you have the option to have one of those cabanas decorated or did they just do the chuppa that you had without you knowing? 3. at your reception, was there lighting in the pool (different colors)? i saw a picture with the pool lit up and wasn't sure if that was standard or maybe they had some vendor come in for lighting. 4. you said they didn't provide golf carts for your grandparents. i wonder if we can talk to someone in advance to have them transport guests in carts. 5. jan is doing my flowers, wedding coordination, and cake as well. did you provide jan with a picture of a cake you wanted? if so did it turn out well? i know your FI didn't like it, was it the taste or the presentation of the cake? 6. the original lady cheryl at seawind is no longer there, who were you communicating with in regards to seawind? sorry in advance for all the questions :-) can't wait to see your pics!

We were a little nervous about the weather because the previous days it rained. However, even though it was a bit hot the sun was out shining. We had 50 people and got the Ultimate Secrets Package. However, as you will read I’m a bride on a budget and was unwilling to pay for hardly any upgrades, so I brought my own decorations and made my own centerpieces. Wedding Coordinator/Minister/Drum Band Rocio was our lead coordinator at the hotel. She was very nice. She try to accommodate us as best as she could. She told us to keep in mind that based on the previous days weather our wedding reception may have to be moved inside, but she would try her best to have the ceremony outside. But, it didn’t matter because our wedding day was beautiful. When you first arrive they have will have a meeting with you and your groom to finalize all the details. The Meeting was not very long. It lasted about 40 min. We met with the minister there as well. His name was Terence. He was very funny and made the wedding a blast. We upgraded from the mento band which was included in our package to the steel drum band for $200. The guests loved them. Hair/Make-UP My hair and make-up was included in the package. I just showed Ms. Joyce a picture of how I wanted my hair and she made it happen. She did a great job and I was definitely satisfied. She did my hair and make up. The hotel photographer took pictures while I was getting my hair and make up done which was a part of the package. Later, he took pictures as I was pretending to get dressed with my bridal party. Wedding Rehearsal We did not pay for a wedding rehearsal ($120). My husband thought it was not worth the money. So, we met with the bridal party and talked about the details. We’re so happy we didn’t because half of them were extremely late anyway and everything turned out fine. During the ceremony the minister walks you through everything anyway. So, we just need to discuss with your bridal party who is walking with who, the order, and where they should walk down. Preferred Club Room We loved the preferred club. They were so nice and pleasant. They will accommodate anything you want. Also, there are snacks downstairs in the lobby which comes in handy when you are at the pool. In addition, you get free wifi which everyone wanted to use. The night before the wedding the groom did get a separate room which was nice. Decorations/Flowers I thought the decorations at Secrets were extremely expensive. So, I brought everything myself and we delivered our OOT bags ourselves (we wren’t paying $4 a bag to have them delivered). However, we paid secrets to put them out for us which was about $50. I didn’t want to worry about setting anything up. I just had to explain how I wanted everything. I had 2 suitcases for decorations: 1 for the flowers and 1 for table decorations. My bridal bouquet was made by the florist and Michaels. I made the bridesmaids bouquets myself. Just go to Michaels when they are having the 50% off sale and pick some that you think will be pretty together. We had red chair bows and table runners and rose petals which have to be biodegradable. I made my own centerpieces. They were 4 picture frames taped together in a square. Since we are high school sweethearts and have been together forever… 2 pictures were of us back in high school and the other 2 were pictures of us now. They came out beautiful. In the middle I put a large battery operated candle which illuminated through the frames at night. Then, around the frames we put votive candles. We saved a ton of money doing it ourselves. So, go to Michaels and get everything when it’s on sale. It will be worth it. Oh we even bought the ribbon and topper on our cake so it could be pretty too. Wedding Day We had a sunset wedding. So, the morning of the wedding I hung out with my bridal party by the pool. I ended up seeing the groom twice that day. Booooo. Then, I went and got my hair and make up done by Ms. Joyce at the salon. Some of my bridesmaids got dressed in their room and some came to mine. We had our private photographer which was a friend (Keenan Peterkin: www.keeneyegallery.com) who took pictures when I was really getting dressed. Then, I had enough time to go downstairs in front of the preferred club and take pictures with my bridemaids and mom which was a great idea. Also, the hotel photographer took pictures of us in the room and on the balcony which came out beautifully. Rocio came to get us. The bridesmaids walked down with one of the other coordinators. Rocio took me in a golf cart. The ceremony was lovely. We wrote our own “words of expression†which is what the minister called them. We had a sand ceremony and jumped the broom which we all brought ourselves. During the ceremony and reception we used our own radio. We got the BOSE speaker which we plugged into the gazebo. We saved a ton of money doing this too. We just plugged our IPOD into it and we already had the music in order. 2 of our friends were the DJs during the ceremony. So they could play and stop the different songs …. Bridal party processional… bride processional…. Sand ceremony…. Recessional…. Everything was wonderful. We were pleased with our dvd and photos which were given to us before we went back home. At the end of the night we had wish lanterns which was a big hit with our wedding party. It was a perfect way to end the night. However, we were lucky the servers were there to help us because we had no idea what we were doing. Overall Secrets St. James was a great place to get married. The food was yummy. The guests really enjoyed it. I was too excited to really eat. But, things can get very expensive if you buy it through them. So, be a do it yourself bride. Like I said, the only extras we got from them were the upgrade to drum band and tiki torches. We bought everything else ourselves. thanks for the great review! glad you had a great time and your wedding turned out beautiful!!! i can't wait til december for mine!!! :-)
  12. did they send you any pictures of it? if so i would love to see it! ive been waiting forever for someone to post an inbal dror or galia lahav dress! :-)
  13. Yea I actually contacted them couple months ago and got pricing lol but they are extremely gorgeous. A few brides on this thread ordered replicas but never posted their results. I wonder how they turned out. I can't imagine the replica was good though, these dresses seem very difficult to duplicate. I wouldn't try it galia or inbal dror, or any Israeli designer lol
  14. Whoop whoop! Have a blessed trip!!! Everything will be perfect!!! So exciting
  15. oh that's great then! they have the idea and i'm sure it will def look more like the dress after they make those changes!
  16. i love the original dress!!! i see the errors you pointed out in the one you had made. looks like youre going to need alot of alterations to get how you want. are you going to have them try to lower the neckline (they'd have to remove that beading and do it over)? and what about the lining, are you going to have that removed? id love to see your final dress after you've altered it. I'm waiting on someone to post their dress results from Inbal Dror duplicate.
  17. i booked Rashel Edwards for makeup. she seems very popular on this site. her work is on facebook and she does airbrushing. i can't wait! i have no idea what i'm going to do for hair though so i'm glad you asked that question! lol
  18. i booked her as well. she responded me within a day or two, and was really nice. i wonder if she is busy, i noticed with other vendors they may take a lil longer to reply (especially since we are so used to a quick response here in the US). but you are really far out as well. Mine is in december 2013. and if you paid i would def send another email asking for an invoice or even an email confirmation to say she received payment (that's what i asked for and she sent it to me). you def need that.
  19. who are you going thru? i'm going thru Wright Travel Agency (the ones affliated with this site) and Babs is AMAZING!!!!! if anyone needs a suggestion on one. she has helped out in every way that i need her to and i've actually had conversations with her on the phone about wedding stuff like she's been my homegirl for years! lol hilarious.
  20. aw thanks a bunch but i found and booked a coordinator thru Jans Flowers about a week after i posted on here. but glad you suggested someone incase any other jamaica brides need a coordinator. btw congrats on your wedding! what was your favorite part regarding decor? i'm deciding all that now, especially the centerpieces.
  21. ok glad you agree lol i was just thinking on my personal opinion if i got a bag with someone elses name on it lol i def wouldn't carry it everywhere lol publisher is easy to use and if you plan on doing simple stuff it works great. i wish i knew how to use photoshop lol
