  1. You are on it!!!! thanks for the helpful info. our budget was initially 10k but our guest list has def changed that. I'm now looking for decorative ideas and all these resources are perfect!!! thanks again!
  2. great thanks. i'll msg you now. i'll definetly look into it. FYI if any of you are looking for bottles for invitations, hobby lobby has unique colors/ shape for 50% off. i just ordered mine!
  3. Oh wow yours is coming up quick! mine isn't until december! def look forward to seeing pics from your wedding! are you having the ceremony on the beach or gazebo?
  4. I actually found out that Seawind was an alternative. Did you get info for pricing? if so, how is their pricing, expensive, cheaper? I blocked 22 rooms 2 weeks ago and they are all full already (2 per room) and thats not including my fiance family which is from jamaica. so our $ is adding up quick lol especially since the Ultimate package is only for 20 people. We pretty much decided beach for ceremony and ballroom for reception.
  5. Sorry to hear that. I'm getting married in December at Secrets in Montego Bay and Tai Flora is their recommended florist. Now i'll start looking into alternate options. I have specific colors i want to stick with so i will probably have a problem with them as well if they don't stick with the original idea i would provide. Do you have any pictures of your flowers from the ceremony/reception?
  6. I'm still trying to decide whether to have the ceremony on the beach or at the Casita area? both could be decorated very nice. I planned on 50 people and it's looking close to 70 now (don't ask me how). I can't remember the max amount of people for the beach area. I'm also really scared to find out how much add-ons we will be looking at for group this size. And majority will stay at the resort as well. :-) My fiance also wants the reception inside incase it's windy or too chilly, December at night in jamaica is definitely on the cool side!
  7. Aw how exciting! Well I can't wait to hear feedback from you after your wedding. Again mines isn't til dec so I could use as much advice as possible. I think ima get my bridesmaids personalized robes and other stuff, don't know what else yet. I'm going to start ordering decorations soon.
  8. So we just found our next vacation spot!!! your resort is gorgeous!!!! nice website too for December wedding in jamaica. i'm working on my website and yours definitely helped me with wording! thanks!
  9. I'm finally booked for WO Dec. 20, 2013!!! Yay i'm so excited. I'm also booked for the rooms as well. What did you decide about your rooms?
  10. These are the pics for the st James rooms: http://www.oyster.com/jamaica/hotels/secrets-st-james-montego-bay/photos/junior-suite-oceanview/
  11. St jam is typically a little less than WO but when my TA did the room rates it was about $30 difference for the package between the two so we went with WO. I showed a few of my guest the secrets website and they fell in love with the rooms/decor which was WO. Def wouldn't want them pissed at me for showing them the rooms they wouldn't be in lol
  12. Rooms are fairly the same as for layout but decor is different. I prefer WO rooms better than st James. St James rooms have lighter wood color and WO have the darker wood which gives it more modern feel. Yea don't feel bad, we didn't know either until I saw pics. Check out www.oyster.com for real pics of the rooms (not those photoshopped pics websites post lol). I'd def see if your TA can check rates for WO. It shouldn't matter as far as your wedding being at one or the other since its all still Secrets
  13. Are your guests staying at st James or wild orchid? I saw WO rooms in person but not st James. And from the pics online there is a difference. When I send my friends to the secret website, most of the WO rooms pop up and they fall in love. I'd hate to have them pay and when they get there they realize those aren't the rooms
  14. YOu're absolutely right, i've been in several weddings and i honestly can't remember most of those little details :-) my fiance is from Jamaica so we're going to buy as much decorations as we can and have it sent down there in someones suitcase lol. and yea these EXTRAS are no joke, i'm surprised people aren't charging for oxygen at these resorts :-)
  15. Well we were in Jamaica for our annual christmas vacation so we decided to look at wedding places while we were there. we had to call Iberostar and set an appointment with the wedding coordinator prior to us going to the resort. Honestly, i personally didn't care for Ibero Beaches but Suites and Grand are really both pretty. They did have alot of kids there at Suites but that was expected since it's the holiday season and Suites are kid friendly, Grand is adults only . We only took a tour of the lobby, pool area and beach which all those areas were very clean. we were actually trying to see Grand so we didn't ask to see the Suites ammenities and rooms, but online it looks really nice as well. People are friendly if you are staying there. I did find a travel agent and they started putting together packages for us, you're right, it is much easier going thru them. Thanks! Congrats to you too....and good luck as well! i know you're have a blast there.
  16. Thanks for your detailed info! do you remember the website you bought your chair sashes for .69? I've been looking online and most are around the price that the hotel is charging to rent. I'm planning on having Dec wedding at Secrets. Just want to start early on the planning process.
  17. Sorry, im new to the site and was trying to reply to a comment regarding outside photographer, i was asking if anyone had the contact information for them? Also, we decided to go with Secrets for December, i am extremely excited! You're definetly correct about guest should pay for the day pass if they choose another hotel but i know my fiance will want to cover that for them instead. I really want as many people possible to stay at Secrets but im still giving people the option to stay at Sunset beach next door if they want to go the cheaper route. How is your interaction with your wedding coordinator at secrets? are they quick to respond to emails? Again, i'm so glad you ladies are on here experiencing the same thing, makes this so much easier and fun to plan! I'm also working with Wright Travel as well. They are extremely nice!
  18. Does the hotel have their contact information? I totally agree on splurging on photos!
  19. Will Secrets allow you to bring your own decorations and do it yourself? If so, I'm definitely going to do the same!!!!
  20. This is so helpful! Im trying to decide between Secrets and Iberostar Grand, so far seems like IG is way more expensive. Did any of you ladies have guest attend your wedding that did not stay at the resort (day pass)?
  21. Hi everyone! My fiance and I took a tour of Iberostar last week and loved it. We started pricing to have our destination wedding at the Grand and my goodness the price/cost is adding up quickly! We were pricing for a party of 50 and a party of 60 to compare the cost and both were high. I've also emailed the wedding coordinator to see if there are any deals or discounts they can give. Im searching this thread to see if anyone else knows of a good way to budget the wedding here, im almost not even sure where to begin anymore. (i calculated based on the info packet they provided and it's around 14k without me adding the extras for how i want it decorated). Btw im looking at December 2013 as well.
