  1. It's too early to know for sure, but I think we will have around 70 guests, and I'll do one bag per family/couple/single. I'm sewing my own bags, and only have enough material for 36 of them. If we end up needing more than that, I'll probably do something like soft sided coolers for the single guys (my bags are beach bags, and probably a bit on the girly side). Getting off topic - sorry. My bags will end up being about $15-$20 each if I don't do Bubba tumblers, and about $25 each (assuming it's for a couple) if I do add those. I'm fine with the cost of the Bubba tumblers, but I'm less fine with having to either pay a fortune to ship them ahead of time, or having to lug them with us. So hard to decide!
  2. Oh dear! How disappointing. Hopefully you can get them replaced without a problem!
  3. Love it, sunshine!! Really pretty. Do you have a thread on your cake topper somewhere?
  4. I was thinking about making a sign like this that says "feel the love...and the sand!" or something like that. But I'm not sure if it's one of those things that sounds cute to me but isn't to the rest of the world. Haha.
  5. Good to know, thanks! Have you had problems with paper getting stuck, ink smudging, things like that? That's the only thing I'd be nervous about. How many invitations do you have to print? And have you had to buy multiple ink cartridges? We live in Manhattan (and so our apartment in a shoe box), so I'd rather not buy a printer, but I could always just sell it after the wedding. I'm sure there are lots of things I could use it for - table numbers, etc.
  6. Invitations have been really hard for me to choose. I've spent hours looking online, and other than super expensive letterpress, I haven't found anything I love. (Side note - I do love boarding pass invites, but FI is a more traditional kind of guy, and I want to honor that with invitations.) I really want pretty invitations, but they're not a priority in terms of budget. I finally found this paper I absolutely love from paper source. I was going to put it on navy cardstock backing, then have it printed in navy with pretty double envelopes, etc. The paper itself is like .92 a sheet. So anyway, I got really excited thinking I'd be able to have something gorgeous for a reasonable price. UNTIL I STARTED LOOKING AT PRINTING. Geez. Paper source quoted me over $3 just for the invitation (no RSVP cards, inserts, etc included in that). SAD TROMBONE. So I'm wondering if I should try to do it myself. It says inkjet will work. I don't have a printer but maybe I should buy one...or give up on pretty invitations and just buy something inexpensive. Or does anyone have recommendations for printing? Thanks!
  7. That doesn't sound horrible at all! Paying for a wedding is no small undertaking...and it's not like a Barbados wedding is shabby either!
  8. Wow, Bora Bora! How wonderful. Best wishes!
  9. I wish it was already time to buy them - these are a great deal! http://weddingshop.theknot.com/loden-cooler-bag-red.aspx
  10. Burlap bags are a good idea. I was thinking maybe something like this. http://weddingshop.theknot.com/personalized-12-pack-cooler-mens.aspx But of course those are more expensive. We'll see - I like the idea of a throw away bag with an extra goody!
  11. Thank you so much! I have enough material for 36 bags, but I'm thinking I'll need more than that. I'm trying to come up with a solution to that problem right now! I can only order the pet screen in 25 foot rolls, and I really don't want to have to buy all that ($90) for just a few extra bags. I'm considering buying something for FI's single guests - like soft sided coolers or something. I'm doing one per couple (or 1 per single person), but I'm thinking the single guys aren't going to be overly attached to this bag. Haha. Otherwise I'll probably just find something decent to buy for them. I'll be in the thick of studying for a huge exam when RSVP's start to roll in, so I need an easy alternative!
  12. 1. I didn't want a 400 guest wedding, with half of those being people who aren't *really* part of my life but would have to be invited. Sounds harsh, but I know you guys get it. 2. I'm from TX and we live in NYC. I didn't want to be planning a wedding long distance - I knew most of the work and decision making would fall on my mom, and I didn't want to do that to her or relinquish that much control! 3. FI's family is spread around, so 75% of our guests would have to travel anyway. It's going to be about the same amount of money for them to fly to and stay in Grand Cayman as it would in NYC - probably less. Staying somewhere decent here is really expensive. The hard part was deciding WHERE once we decided destination!
  13. People who can download attachments (paid members or those with over 150 posts) can see them by downloading the attachment. If you want to repost so everyone can ssee, you will just want to use the button 2 buttons to the left of the paperclip/attachment one. That will put the pictures directly on the post. Hope that helps!
  14. I think the Dreams (kids allowed) in Cabo is related to Zoetry (adults only) - I can't remember the details, but I think it's walkable? The only thing is that if you hold the wedding at Zoetry, Dreams guests will need a pass that you will have to pay for. If you hold it at Dreams, the Zoetry guests can go for free. Hope that helps/makes sense.
