  1. This custom-made bridal hair piece / fascinator includes a birdcage-style veil, feathers, and lace with a rhinestone and topaz-coloured centre stone. The colour is off-white / light cream and it measures approximately 4" across. It attaches easily to your hair with a clip on the back. Would go perfectly with a lace or vintage-style wedding gown. Asking $40, but feel free to make me an offer. I am located near Vancouver, BC but can arrange shipping (for an additional cost). Please email for more photos or information. Thanks, emily
  2. We were married in Mexico last May and used these cute miniature Adirondack / beach chairs as part of our cake topper. I've attached a pic of our cake so you can see how we set them up (would have looked better without the blobby icing flower between them! haha) They measure approximately 3" tall, 2.5" wide and 4.5" from front to back. Made of real wood and painted white. Asking $15 for the pair, but feel free to make me an offer. I'm located near Vancouver, BC but can ship them for you (shipping costs extra). Thanks! emily
  3. Hi all, I'm counting down the days until our May 2013 wedding at the Barcelo Maya. We've been to the resort once before and can't wait to return with all our friends and family. My fiance would really like to go deep sea fishing with the guys one day before the wedding. I was thinking that this would be a good opportunity for me to do something nice with my mom, his mom, his sister and some of my girlfriends. The obvious choice is to do a "spa" day, but neither my mom or his mom are really into whole spa thing. I don't think they would want to do anything too crazy or adventurous (like zip-lining), either. I know they'd definitely like to see some of the ruins, but I'm sure some of the guys would like to do that too, so I don't want to go without them. I was racking my brains to think of something that everyone would enjoy, but I'm having a bit of trouble... So, I was hoping some of you may have some ideas! Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Don't know what I'd do without this board : )
  4. Hi Reese713, I'm in the process of planning my wedding at the Barcelo for 2013 and found a site that's been SO helpful. There's a tonne of good information in the "Weddings" section of their forum. Check it out: http://www.unofficial-barcelo-maya.com/site/ Happy planning!
  5. Hi all, My fiance and I have decided to have our wedding at the Barcelo Maya in Mexico's Mayan Riviera in May 2013. Yay! I know it's still a long way away, but we want to give guests as much notice as possible, so we have already started to look at Travel Arrangements. All the travel agents that I have spoken with suggested that we book as a group. Once we have decided which agent to use and agree to an estimate, our guests will have to pay a deposit within a month (in order to guarantee the group rate, hold their spot, etc). When the time comes, my plan is to send out "Save the Date" fridge magnets that will include a link to our wedding website (where guests will be able to find information about booking, etc). Now comes the confusing part: I have heard contradicting information about how to go about actually booking a wedding date with the resort. One agent told me that I should confirm the date with the resort before I book my trip, while another agent said that the resort will not give you a wedding date until after they have proof that you have already booked. I saw on another forum that the Barcelo will put a date on "hold" for two months. Once you have shown proof of booking, then they will actually officially reserve it for you. So, just to be on the safe side, I emailed the resort a few days ago asking them to put May 9 on hold. I haven't heard back yet, but apparently they are usually slow to respond. So, doesn't it seem a bit risky to book a trip, make & send out STDs, and move forward with planning before we have actually confirmed that the date we are hoping for is available...? Or, is it a pretty safe bet that they will have a something available that day (or, worse case scenario, that week) and I'm just being OCD / paranoid? I want to get the ball rolling and send out STDs within the next couple of weeks, but right now it seems like I'm just going in circles... Help?
  6. Hi ladies (and perhaps gentlemen!), So glad I found this site - it's an unbelievable resource! Not sure if this is the best area to post this, but I was just curious to ask what made some of you decide to have a destination wedding? Was it always your dream? Easier logistically? Also, for anyone who happens to be reading this after the big day, are there any little traditional things that you feel you missed out on because you chose to have a destination wedding? I'm trying to decide between getting married and home or away and just wondered what decision-making process some of you followed. Thanks in advance!

beautiful memories of our special day

Pros: very professional; wonderful candid style; friendly, fun & helpful
Cons: had to wait 6 weeks to see proofs of photos
We hired Claudia for our wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace in May 2013. Photography was one of the most important parts of the wedding for me, so I spent a lot of time reviewing our options before deciding on Claudia. It was the right decision!   My main reason for choosing Claudia is that I love her candid style. She manages to capture so many intimate, special moments throughout the day that help to tell the complete story of your wedding. She offers several different packages so that y
