  1. I don't even know if we're actually getting a rehearsal at GCBS, but I do not have a wedding party other than just my MOH and a BM. How's the rest of the wedding planning going? I know it's kind of slow for most of us since most of the "action" doesn't start to happen until the 90 day period before the actual wedding. We did book our flight though! Prices are good to get to GCM from the East Coast it seems. Thanks! I got a quote from Tropicana Tours and I will check with Majestic as well. We're still undecided about the welcome party, if we want to do it off site or not. It will depend on how many guests we actually have coming. I will definitely need transport to get guests to GCBS from Sunshine Suites for the wedding though.
  2. Hey ladies! This forum has been waaaay too quiet! I was wondering how everyone plans to transport their guests around the island? Like for example, rehearsal dinner/welcome parties and in my case, to the actual wedding venue?
  3. I didn't use a TA but I did lock in a group rate for my guests which is good all the way up to my wedding date, however it's on space available basis. That means, they may or may not get a room if they wait too long. Invites will go out next month and my RSVP deadline is January 18th. I need 8 rooms booked and right now we've got 4 rooms booked as of now, but I've also got people who have RSVP'd on our wedding website but haven't booked their rooms yet. It's still early, but I suspect most folks who are definitely attending will be all booked flight/room before Christmas for sure. I really cannot stress about the guest list. The important folks are all booked so everyone else is icing on the cake for us. I just hope we don't exceed 30 people!
  4. I have a dog sitter who stops by to check on my dogs while I am away. He works with several other people in my building so he comes highly recommended and has a security key to get into the building. He's done a great job and is inexpensive. My dog are very well behaved and are good alone in the house together. All they do pretty much is sleep lol He comes by once a day to take them for a walk and they use pee pee pads in between and he cleans that up and changes their food and water.
  5. Yeah I was going to say, they both specialize in customizing dresses. Those dresses are just samples of what they do, that's not representative of all they have available.
  6. I am going to use Mudcards from Etsy too for our cake topper! We opted to omit our Yorkies though. They are prominently featured in our engagement shoot photos but since we aren't bringing them to Grand Cayman, we decided not to put them in the topper. Mudcards is pricey but I think she does a great job I am just hoping it stays in tact when transporting it on the plane!
  7. I think you dress combo idea is cool. I have never heard of this seller and I am not sure if they are featured in this forum, but I hope it turns out great. Have you tried some of the other "cheaper" Chinese knockoffs that are mentioned in here like babyonline (DH GATE) and Dressilyme? They are pretty well-reviewed here.
  8. I am still amazed at all this talk about the Cheesecake Factory lol It's okay I guess.. I do have a wedding related question though. How many of you have a wedding planner? If so, how attentive have they been throughout your wedding planning process thus far. I know people on this thread are getting married at different times, but I am just curious.
  9. those blue orchids are gorgeous but I am biased as I love ALL Orchids!!
  10. yes orchids will be everywhere in my wedding. My favorite flower! Expensive but hey I'm only getting married once. They'll be in bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, our cake, etc.
  11. my colors are based on the Dessy color palate and also my favorite colored orchids. Basically it comes down to being purple and orange Dessy calls them "persian plum" and "tangerine "
  12. click on your edit community profile button and scroll down. There's an area to "edit signature"
  13. I gotta say, I haven't really heard any criticism either from anyone. I think it helps that me and FI don't live near anyone we invited (close friends and family)
  14. I will join the chorus here and say that you have yourself a gorgeous dress there and yes, they need to fix the neckline. It does appear to be frayed. Looks like they were really trying to attempt to get close to the original design there. Seems easy enough to fix though. Congrats!
  15. well that might be obnoxious if they don't ask to see your photos and you bust out with your album like "Hey here's my wedding album!" lol I meant down the line if they ask (and they probably will ask to see photos!) Everyone has different family dynamics and you have to do what feels right for you in this particular case. Good for you for not backing down on what you clearly feel is the right choice for you and your future hubby.
  16. I don't know anyone who regrets their DW lol I have a few cousins who did them so, I am not the first in my family to do this and I probably won't be the last. My FI's family doesn't travel however, most of them aren't invited to the wedding anyway. His mom is dragging on getting her travel documents together, having never gotten a passport before. He is expected to pay for everything for her to come even though she can afford it and had about a year to save, her assumption is that if he wants her there, he has to pay for her to go so, he's just going to do that. It's really not about everyone else, it's about you and your FI and how you want to exchange vows. If your family and friends want to be a part of it, that is fabulous. If not..well, you can't be bothered. Your job is to enjoy your lives as husband and wife and be happy. You can show them your wedding album down the line and they'll be happy for you.
  17. yeah the $50 for 4 hours for a wedding DJ is super telling lol I see now why Canadian brides are choosing Cuba for destination weddings!
  18. It's true it adds up but EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING depends on the amount of guests you are going to have attend. There are set costs too, but we plan to pour most of budget into the food and drink part. That is more than half the budget and that number will vary depending on how many guests we have coming. We chose to keep this small for a reason. And to me, small is 20 or 30 people.
  19. we got a flight out of DCA which is great because we can metro it straight to the airport and not have to park our car and pay for parking! So anyway our flight was $447 per person. I am happy with that price. We have a stop in Charlotte, not a direct flight, but Charlotte isn't a nightmare airport like Miami or something so it's all good. Where are you flying out of? Why Airtran?
  20. FI and I finally booked our flights to Grand Cayman. We have been watching the price for months now and of course, the day we decide to buy tickets, the price went up $10 lol Not a big jump, but still annoying. We are flying US Airways which means we have to pay for each bag checked to the Caribbean (BOOOO!) I always liked that traveling overseas meant no checked bag fees, but for this airline the Caribbean doesn't count. Oh well, just happy to get that all done. Now we have to book rental car and flights for our "mini-moon" to Cayman Brac but flights for that are not available yet.
  21. that's really up to you and what dress you're getting (if it's really detailed) and your level of picky-ness, etc, etc. It sounds like you may not be overly critical and just want a nice dress, so I'd probably do the DHGate/Babyonline version.
  22. I don't recall the style number, you can browse their website it's on there. We did that and when we actually went to the bridal store, she ended up not liking any of the dress we saw on the website and tried this one on at the store and loved it. I think it would be really plain without the flower but I am partial to it. The dress is really light and flowy. She is not the type to buy anything off of ebay or target..trust me ..however, I am lol I buy tons of things on ebay! Hell, I am having my wedding dress is a Chinese knock off! But I do not stand in the way of people with expensive tastes as long as they got the $$$ and don't complain!
