  1. Here is a photo of my brooch bouquet! Definitely worth the hard work. In the end it weighed around 7.5lbs
  2. We used the following Etsy seller who is based out of canada and paid only $2.50 for shipping. http://www.etsy.com/shop/BlackCatCreates?ref=seller_info The fans were cute and of a decent quality.
  3. CdnBeatPrincess - Amazing photos!!! Love your short dress!!
  4. I found some linen items at Le Chateau when we were looking. I'm from Edmonton and a few mens stores here had them like Colony Clothing in West Edmonton Mall. So, I'm looking for other ideas? I know we are also limited in terms of the time of year to buy this kind of thing due to our seasons, so I'm getting antzy. We are getting married next May and I don't want to leave it to the last minute!
  5. We had separate song for the signing. We did the symbolic ceremony and had 4 ppl including my hubby and I sign the certificate. It didn’t take very long but long enough that if we had one song for the signing and recessional, we probably would have ran out of music. If you are doing a legal ceremony, it’s my impression that the signing takes quite a bit longer than the symbolic.
  6. I was married in May of this year. I am also contemplating what I am going to do with all of our photos. I am wanting to make a couple of photo books online @ photobook canada. I've also been thinking of maybe putting our photo's on a canvas. Would love to see what other brides are doing with all their fav photo's
  7. We used sand for a treasure box that our guests put their completed mad lib guest book sheets in. Jazmin suggested we use the sand from the beach vs. purchasing it.. We didn't take this sand home with us so I'm not sure if it would be different for favours.
  8. Hey Ladies, Just a heads up, living social edmonton has a photo book deal for picaboo. $10.00 for a 20 page book. http://www.livingsocial.com/cities/81/deals/355050-20-page-customized-hardcover-photo-book
  9. We had the same amount of time at our reception and it was over way tooo fast! We had asked Jazmin if we could extend it later and were told the latest was 11. It was fun but it was hard to get everything in. We didn't have time at dinner to do the cake cutting so we did it at the reception, first dances & bouquet and garter toss left little time for dancing. If you can have it start earlier I would suggest you do that or see if you have any luck extending your reception past 11.
  10. I bought a bag of seashells from Michaels and brought them with me. We didn't have any problems getting them there, but I was unable to find any definitive answers either.
  11. We asked our WC if we could have the poolside reception later and were told no, the latest they could do was 11. We did our cake cutting at the reception and had to do it ourselves.
  12. We booked in August of 2011 and found out in October. We were fortunate because it only affected our Calgary flights. We surrended all of reserved Calgary flights and routed everyone through edmonton. It sucked because we had to give up Calgary seats and our Edmononton flights was completely booked, all we had were our reserved seats. We had to move our wedding date from May 11 to May 10th, luckily our resort was accommodating with the date change. Air Transat didn't make any further changes to our schedule after this, so hopefully you're in the clear. I hope everything works out for you, I know how stressfull it can be!
  13. We ran into this with our air transat flights for our May wedding. Very frustrating!! Hopefully you are able to get everything figured out without changing your date!
  14. Krysta lee ann - Great photos!!! You look stunning!
  15. We put the cash down at our meeting with Jazmin. I think it was around 500-600 it was half of what we paid for our wedding in total. This included flowers, any resort supplied decorations, resort DJ, cake, bar option for poolside reception, additional sparkling wine for after the ceremony, and any other charges from the resort relating to our wedding. We went with the Sunshine Package for $975 which at the time of our booking included minister fees.
  16. Jazmin included the DJ fees in our grand total and we had to pay for half of that in cash as the deposit.
  17. Sunshine - You have to pay for the blood tests & deposit on your wedding package in cash.Your WC will take the deposit at your meeeting. Everything else can be put on your CC or charged to your room. When I had spoke with Jazmin about how to pay for eveything she said i could pay by CC at first then told me I needed cash for the deposit right before we left. Fraggle - USD is fine, that's what we had. If you go to any vendor and they give you a total in Peso's they can convert it on the spot for you and give you the total in USD.
  18. Hey Ladies, We've been home for just over a week now. We had an amazing time, thank you all for your help & suggestions. I created a review of the resort if anyone is interested. Beware it's long! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-all-inclusive/reviews/6129 Once we get some more photos from our photgrapher, I'll post them. Here are the sneak peaks from our TTD & wedding day. Sorry they're so large. We did the TTD just outside of the akumal golden beach.
  19. What an amazing view! What a beautiful location!
  20. We leave tomorrow! Wohoo!! Can’t believe how fast time has flown! This time tomorrow I will be at our resort with a drink in hand!! Congratulations to all the May brides!!

  22. I was under the impression that you only needed to be there for 4 days if you were having the legal ceremony.
