How are you ladies planning on packing your bouquets?

All the bouquets are gorgeous, thank you for sharing! I started working on mine a couple of months ago. My mom has been helping out a lot (I'm not very crafty!) We are using a drill to twist/braid the wire, it is SO much faster and a lot easier on my fingers. I will weave the wire through the brooch pin, string the end through the pin to make 3 strands and tighten the top with pliers. I then open the chuck of the drill place the three strands into the drill and tighten it back up and gently tap on the trigger while holding the brooch in place. I was nervous at first tht it would wreck the brooch, but it's done no harm. Make sure that you have cut the bottom of the wire to make 3 seperate strands, otherwise it won't work as well. I'll be sure to post some pics of my progress!

I am so sorry to hear that this is happening to you! Very unprofessional way to go about cancelling all 2012 bookings... I hope you are able to find someone to replace him who is even better and you are able to get your money back.

You never know, maybe some of your friends are waiting to book last minute? We're kind of experiencing the opposite, Not very many of our family members are coming ,mostly friends. Our parents and siblings are coming but that's about it. Like past brides have said, everyone who is coming really wants to be there and are there for the right reasons. Regardless of who makes it or doesn't you will have an amazing time. Stay focused on the positive.

Crystalz - I hope they don't change anything, it's been enough of a fight to get our flights straightened out as it is! We are also staying at Akumal and were giving the choice of Arlequin for our dinner.

I went on Air Transats website the other day and tried searching for flights in and around our departure date and was told that info wasn't even available yet. Hopefully we get an update soon!

We’re with Air Transat too, when I asked our TA about an itinerary I was told that Air Transat doesn’t release that information closer to the departure date. Yes, we found a photographer. We really liked Chris’s work but he a little out of our price point. We ended up securing a local photographer that has done some work for a couple friends. I’m also interested in renting the sound & light equipment for the reception. Based on the last review and what I’ve read from other posts, I’m not quite sold on their DJ.

We’re faced with the same problem! We don’t really want to register either, but are planning too soon. A lot of my family isn’t coming to the wedding but are insisting on buying us a gift because it’s the “proper†thing to do and we didn’t want to end up with more towels! We decided to register at The Bay and probably Sears because a lot of my family doesn’t have access to The Bay. Not sure if you have a Crate and Barrel where you are, they have a registry service and lots of cool things in their store! Good luck!

Thanks for the info Crsystalz! At first it was quite alarming for me. That would probably explain why I haven't really been able to find anything. On the bright side our TA emailed me and let me know that 6 more seats opened up on our flight leaving May 6th. This flight has been sold out since we reserved our seats in early August.

Hey Cynlee, We actually found out today that 6 extra seats opened up for our flight leaving out of Edmonton on May 6th. She has provided us with separate flights & accommodations, they were quite high compared to what we’re paying. Which is to be expected. Are you going through a local agent? Jazmin gave us the option of Dolce, Arlequin & Frutos Del Mar. I’d ask your coordinator about it. Have you had any luck getting a hold of anyone yet?

This is a pic of the mug I picked up at Dollarama the other night. It was $2.00 and is 1.0L. They also had them in a dark grey colour. It worked okay, I put room temp vodka, refrigerated OJ and 4 ice cubes in it. The ice cubes lasted about two hours and the drink was cold until I finished it in about 2.5 - 3 hours or so. The plus side to these is that we can either personalize them or put other details relating to our wedding on them, which we weren't going to do with the Bubba Kegs.

Congrats Ktoby! Contact a few travel agents in your area asking for pricing. I think BDW also has TA's that come highly recommended. Once we received pricing/avaibility we contacted the resort and advised them what days we planned to arrive and when we would like to have the wedding. Be aware that you have to be in mexico for 4 business days in order to be legally married. We didn't finalize our flights until we received an answer from the WC at the resort that the date/time we wanted was still available. We're arriving on Sunday May 6th and getting married Thursday May 10th @ 5:00pm. We had a lot of back and forth with the resort as our TA kept changing the dates that were available to fly out. The resort was good about getting back to us with the change of dates etc. We decided to not send out save the dates and just sent the invitations out in August as we only had a limited time to book (less than 90 days). We got engaged in April so pretty much everyone knew we were engaged and planning on doing a DW. We still have not decided if we're doing an AHR (i know.. get on it already!!) so we didn't include that in our invitations. We do plan on sending out brochures a couple of weeks before departure, so i think this will make up for the lack of save the dates. Browse through the forums, there is sooooo much info on this sight that you will find useful. Good luck and happy planning!

We are going through Travel With Us. They're located in the basement of TELUS tower. They came highly recommended to us through my mom as she used to work there. It's just frustrating, we've complained about the level of service we've received from our TA who is also the office manager and have been told "that's just how she is" by the owner. How is being inefficient and rude just the way she is?? LOL. What kind of problems are you experiencing with Flight Centre? When we went to the bridal shows in the fall, there were quite a few travel agents who specialized in DW, it made me wish we shopped around a little more. That's definitely my advice to other brides planning on going away for their wedding.... But what's done is done, and I know regardless of this whole TA thing our day will be AMAZING! That is so exciting, you're leaving so soon! I can't wait to hear abour your experience at the resort! Be sure to keep us updated!

I am full of questions today! For any of the ladies staying at Akumal. Are any of your guests booking outside of the travel agent having a hard time finding packages for Akumal? We have been able to find quite a few of packages for Tulum and Coba in May but none of Akumal. I emailed Jazmin today explaining what we have been able to find and asking what their policy was for wedding guests and whether or not they would allow them to dine with us. I feel like i’ve been having an opposite experience with the resort and travel agency. Jazmin has been quite good about responding to our inquiries where as I can’t get any definitive answer from our travel agent. Not even an itinerary yet.We’d switch travel agencies if our all our deposits weren’t non refundable lol. I think so far our travel agent has been the most stressful and hardest part of planning our wedding so far. I hope everyone else is having a more pleasant experiencing with their travel agents!
