  1. I've gotten the round stickers for free. I'm pretty sure if you wait long enough, everything goes on sale for free (just maybe not everything you want all at the same time). Note that the stickers were a bit bigger than I expected. If you want, I can take a picture of them for you when I get home.
  2. Any updates on whether or not Sandra is still with Now Sapphire? I haven't had to contact her for a while, so I'm not really sure what's going on there.
  3. Here is mine. I have a friend who is a graphic designer and she's used the logo on our invitations and we're also having it made into a rubber stamp to use on a variety of other things.
  4. Any luck with Liquidation World? Also, where is the Giant Tiger? Is it better than Dollarama, Walmart or Target? I haven't really started shopping for my bags yet, other than looking for a few things online. I always seem to go shopping with my FI and he has no interest in looking around for this stuff.
  5. I did not take any Canadian money with me when I went to Mexico in 2010. I bought mostly USD - lots of small bills for tipping. I wish I had bought some pesos before I left instead of exchanging them through the resort. The USD is fine for tipping, but when we went off the resort we needed pesos. For my wedding in January, I will get a combination of USD and pesos.
  6. My experience from going to a friend's DW in Mexico taught me that I need to bring some warmer clothing. It was February and got quite cool in the evenings.
  7. I budgeted $1000 for my dress, but ended up buying it from a consignment store for $700. It already has a bustle and might not require any alterations, but I'm toying with the idea of adding cap sleeves or a halter.
  8. Looks beautiful! And it actually almost looks too long for you! I can't believe anyone thought you would need more length.
  9. I used vistaprint for my save-the-date magnets. I was really happy with them and received some positive feedback on them. They're light and thin enough to mail without having to pay extra postage (in Canada, at least). I made some of the business-card sized magnets and some of the oversized. The only comment I have is that they might have a bit of magnet-junk stuck to the edges that you have to clean off before you send them out. I think it happens when they cut them.
  10. For all Edmonton-area brides, I just want to throw out the option of going to Urban Bride Delivered (www.urbanbridedelivered.com) for your wedding dress. Check out the website and the Facebook site for more information. But the gist of it is, the owner operates a bridal consignment store out of her home. She has hundreds of dresses in all different styles and sizes. I went last night and found a dress I loved for a lot less than it would be in a regular bridal boutique. If you're trying to save a bit of money on your dress budget and you don't mind buying a previously owned wedding dress (although some of her dresses are also new), then this should be the first place you look. Also, this would probably be a good option if you're thinking of selling your wedding dress. This is the dress I bought. It hadn't been altered from its original state, and I don't think I will be doing much to it. Maybe adding a halter strap or cap sleeves.
  11. Yeah, I had the same problem. I'm going to wait to order until I have a better idea of how many I will need and what other things I might want from them (e.g., organza bags, jewlery boxes, etc).
  12. If you're willing to make the trek up to Edmonton, there's a woman who operates a wedding dress consignment business out of her basement. It's called Urban Bride Delivered (go to www.urbanbridedelivered.com or look them up on Facebook for current pictures of dresses in stock). I went there last night, tried on maybe 5 dresses and found a dress I love. It hadn't been altered, nor do I need to make any significant alterations to it. I paid for it and brought it home last night. You might be able to find better prices on eBay or Kijiji, but I would still recommend checking out this place.
  13. I don't know if anyone noticed this, but the 8 Seasons website also has lanyards for super cheap! Not a lot of colour options, but I'm not picky. 10 for about $1. http://www.8seasons.com/10-black-neck-strap-lanyard-id-card-cell-phone-36-p-7694.html
  14. The best quote we received was from Air Canada, giving us the 16th room free, but our travel agent ended up getting Transat to price/deal match what Air Canada was offering (and actually beat the price by a little bit). So the most we will get in the end is one free room, which is nowhere near what the resort itself offers. Sunwing had a better group booking bonus, but the prices and travel dates weren't as good as Transat. With Transat almost every gateway city we need can depart on the same day. Also, my guests don't need to pay in full until late October and they don't have to make a deposit until August 31. This gives them a little extra flexibility for budgeting.
  15. drmunoz, If you find that you're waiting a long time (a few days or more) for Sandra to confirm your date, send Olivia an email (I gave you her address in the other thread you started) and she will get Sandra to respond asap. I did confirm my ceremony and reception locations when I sent in the deposit. I'm hoping that they'll be flexible with the reception locations, but I don't really know. We chose the moments package and we're planning to have a simple reception at the market cafe, as long as we have 35 or fewer guests and the restaurant isn't closed for the day. So I think there has to be some flexibility there. If the restaurant happens to be closed that day, they will have to provide us with another option. Also, if we end up with more than 35 guests we will probably want to upgrade our package and then we will have to consider a cocktail party location and a different reception location. Hopefully that kind of answers your question...
  16. We're getting married on January 19 at the tequilla beach. What date/location are you requesting? Which package do you think you'll go with?
  17. I booked Now Sapphire for my wedding in January. I've never been there, but I'm not too concerned about the seaweed, based on reviews I've read. One great resource for information on this resort is Olivia Rodriguez, the social media coordinator for the resort. She is VERY responsive to questions via email and facebook. You can ask her anything and she will have a helpful response. Her email address is [email protected]om and you can search for Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun on Facebook. Good luck with your decision!
  18. My budget is around $13,000 right now. I was hoping that it would be closer to the $7-8,000 range, but when I started adding things up, I was a bit surprised. The $13,000 also includes our honeymoon, so I'm not too disappointed. I'm still hoping to come in under budget on some things, like my dress and my fiance's clothing, but I figured I should budget on the higher end, just in case. I'm also hoping (fingers crossed) that we have enough people booking that we get our first week free. Right now we're at 10 booked and we need to get up to 16 for free rooms. I just sent out my Save-the-Date's last week, so hopefully our guests start to book soon.
  19. Thanks for pointing that out celticgirl! I might have ended up ordering 300 instead of 30!
  20. @luvmoo, how did you get 70 for 5.04USD? It says they're $0.65 each. Do you have a discount code?
  21. Here is my tip to all prospective Now Sapphire brides: If you're having trouble getting responses from the wedding coordinator, send an email to Olivia Rodriguez, who is in charge of Social Media ([email protected]). She responds very quickly, and in my circumstance she informed me that I would hear back from the wedding team later that day. It worked like a charm!
  22. I don't have any info from experience, but I will be getting married at the Now Sapphire on Jan 19, 2012. 1) From what I understand, you get some beach chairs for the ceremony, and extras are $5 per person. The Moments package comes with 10 (I think) and the others come with 25. 2) All the ceremony locations are semi-private, but aside from having them in a ballroom, it would be hard to stop other guests from coming to check it out. Reception locations are private, and that's where you pay the $500 booking fee (unless you pick the Divine or Eternity packages. 3) From my experience with the wedding coordinator so far, it's pretty hard to get her to reply to emails very promptly. I was a bridesmaid at Dreams Tulum, and most of the planning was done on resort a couple of days before the wedding, but that wedding required very little planning. My plan is to go with the Moments package as long as we have less than 35 people coming, and have the reception in the Market Cafe. If we have over the 35 people and can't have the reception in the restaurant, we will probably go with the Divine package. Hope that helps!
  23. Looks like I will be getting married at the Now Sapphire on January 19, 2012! So excited!
