Ours will probably cost us the same or even more then it would if we had it back home. We are trying to keep it under $20K + travel expenses of about $5K. I just could not justify spending $20K back home for 1 day that would be over before we knew it. We would also probably spend most of the time talking to people our parents invited that we barely know. I can justify spending $20K over the course of a week with all of my closest family and friends. Best decision EVER!

This is SO true! We have so many people coming with us that we never in a million years expected to come! Nothing will surprise me anymore about this whole planning process! Great tips from all! Thanks!

Just wondering how much everyone is paying for DJ Mannia? I tried to look for some pricing on their website and couldn't find any. Also are you able to customize the music selection? And do they speak english? The DJ we have booked speaks no english and has no lighting, do you know if DJ Mannia comes with lighting? Any info you girls have got from them would be much appreciated.

Hi Ladies! I will be at ME January 1-11th, 2012, so I will probably witness some of your weddings! My wedding was originally booked for January 2nd at ME, but we wanted a more private ceremony and reception so we decided to rent out a restaurant on the beach instead. My date is now January 6th, 2012. I have been to Majestic Elegance and was planning with the WC for months before changing my mind. If anyone has any questions about the resort or wedding planning there, let me know! Congrats and happy planning!

Congrats! That is so exciting! Flight schedules were not available for me until atleast 1 year before departure. I sent out Save The Dates about 8 months in advance, without any flight information. I actually ended up changing my wedding date because of the flight schedule, but no one really seemed to care or notice. I would recommend a wedding website to keep your guests up to date on travel information. I included the link to our website on our Save The Dates. Happy Planning!

Yes, I agree it would be much easier and less stressful (not to mention much cheaper) to do it at home before going down. We will more then likely be doing that. My WC told me that the DR is the most expensive country to do a legal marriage in. Not sure if that is true or not? Any other brides find it super expensive?

We are paying $60 per person for the Chicken/Beef grill option. It also includes "National" open bar, which looks like pop, water, rum, and beer.

Hi MC and ME Brides! I am getting married in January 2012, we are staying at the ME, but chose an offsite location for the ceremony and reception. We would however like to have our grooms dinner/welcome dinner at the ME. Has anyone had their grooms dinner at the ME? How did you go about getting tables reserved for your party at the restaurant? What restaurants are available for large groups (60+)? I asked my previous wedding coordinator at the ME if she would be able to help me with that, but since we cancelled our wedding with ME and are having it elsewhere, she said she wouldn't be able to help. Anyone else have this issue?
