  1. The shipping is much cheaper with the plastic bottles than with glass. With glass you HAVE to put them in boxes (and of course the bottles weigh more) so some girls have said that it cost up to $5/bottle! YIKES. With the plastic ones, you can just stick a mailing label and stamp right on the bottle and send it out! I sounds like it will be between $1.50-$2.50 per bottle depending on how much sand you put in the bottle. Thanks ladies! Just FYI, I did not make the ones in the pictures. These are just where I am drawing my inspiration from. I think I'm going to try and find some little plastic Palm Trees to stick inside too! Any wording info would be helpful too!
  2. Oh....I ordered my bottles in plastic instead of glass to save on shipping, but now I am worried that it might look tacky! It seems like most people have done glass! Does anyone have any cute (fairly short and simple) wording ideas? I have searched for some but can't seem to find too many! I would like it to at least include the place, date, time, and website. Are there other things I should include? Thanks girls!
  3. My FI got engaged on our 4yr anniversary, and will be getting married a few months after our 6yr anniversary!
  4. Hey Ladies! I'm so excited! As weird as this sounds, one of the things I have been most excited for are sending out our STDs. Since we are planning on a tropical setting, I decided I wanted to do my STDs as a Message in a Bottle! It was actually pretty affordable too. For 50 bottles (including the cork) and all the supplies (sand, shells, umbrella, funnel) it was just over $50! Not too bad! You can even slap a mailing stamp right on the bottle and stick them in the mail! Once I get them, I just print out my STD, put everything together, and BAM, memorable STDs! This is about what they will look like when I am done!
  5. Hey ladies! I have been doing my research on photographers, and decided I REALLY want La Luna. They got back to me so quickly (something I really appreciate) and have been super friendly. So my next big decision will be WHICH photographer to choose! They have Jonathan, Melissa, and Rachel. I looked at all of their portfolios, and everyone has great photos. How do I choose one?! Has anyone worked with any of them? Thoughts? Something that made you pick one over the other? Any info/feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks ladies!!
  6. This is great info! Echraide, do you already have your date booked in 2012 with MP? I tried but they said they won't do anything until 2011. I know things book FAST and want to make sure we get the date/time we want!
  7. That looks like a good website! I will have to maybe use that one too. I like the idea of online RSVPing, but you have to get the gold to get that included. My FI has been really helpful. He knows how stressed I was when we were planning for Aug 28th. He is really good at that stuff, and since I didn't need to be "supervising" (haha), I think it was a good job for him to have. Probably one of the more important jobs needing to be done! Photography is a great thing to know about! There are so many options...its hard to know what you do and don't need. I'm looking into La Luna since I have heard they are much more affordable than Del Sol....I love their style! Hopefully they will email me back soon with their prices/packages. I think Photography is one of the most important expenses of a wedding. You definitely want to be informed...looks like you will have a good upper hand there! I know how I feel when I'm given too many options...I think keeping it simple is probably better. I would love for everyone to book at the resort, but I also want them to be comfortable with what they are spending. Maybe I will pick 2 other resorts close by. Thank you! I love my dress. I can't wait to wear it! I got it in White/Ivory. When I originally ordered it, we were planning on a big Cathedral wedding, so I was going for classic bride. I like the idea of a non-traditional color...especially for a destination wedding. I like the idea of light blue or coral...that would look beautiful on a beach setting. Very complimenting colors!
  8. Oh thats a good idea too! Is there a good (and free) website that you would reccommend? I can imagine with as many weddings as there are EVERYDAY that vendors would book super early! Thank you so much!
  9. Geez...thats a tough one. I have been trying to figure that one out too!
  10. Thanks! A TA does sound like the way to go...I have never been out of the country, so I have never needed to plan something like this out! Do you think they can give you a better deal than a room block? What about those travel sites like Travelocity, Priceline, Hotwire...ect? Are those something people would maybe get a better deal on? I am pretty organized myself. My FI does spreadsheets for a living, so I gave him the task of putting hotel/flight/activity info together on a spreadsheet to send out to people. So far it looks pretty good! Its probably a good idea to let people know what the costs could be...although sometimes I worry that it could scare people away! Would you reccommend giving other hotel options nearby that are maybe more affordable? I would like as many people as I can get to book at MP so we could get the unlimited events. I would love to post a picture of me wearing my dress...but my FI ask me not to take any pictures because he was afraid he would come across it. He is adamit that he be 100% surprised! I can post the store's picture though! I love it! I got it at Brides by Demetrios in Bellevue, WA. They were so great! DETAILS Color: Blue, Gray, Pink, White/Ivory, Gold Designer: Demetrios - Sensualle Embellishment: Beading Fabric: Taffeta Hemline: Floor-Length Neckline: Sweetheart Collection: Spring 2009 Dress Silhouette: A-Line Sleeve Length: Sleeveless Train: Chapel Waist: Natural I ordered mine in White/Ivory. I also have a cathedral length veil that I got to go with it. I hope I will be able to wear the veil in Mexico...at least for the ceremony! But the dress is beautiful and I can't wait to wear it! Thanks for all your help!
  11. I wouldn't even know where to begin with arranging everyones travel! Where do you find a TA on this website?? I guess I never thought about having to do that part...I just assumed everyone would just book what they needed to get there! I'm assuming they help with the hotel too? Haha you can probably tell I've NEVER really traveled before...I'm clueless!
  12. Aw that sounds nice! I think thats a good number! I would want about that many, but I have such a large family I think it will be around 50. Still not too bad though! I've heard Maui is beautiful! I originally was thinking Hawaii, but the costs were quite a bit higher than Mexico. I'm hoping the drug war doesn't affect it too much! Thank you for the great advice! Good luck with the dress shopping too! I actually got mine Nov 2009...we were scheduled to get married last Aug, but postponed because it was getting too large and out of control! The dress is definitely the best part though! Have fun and keep an open mind..I ended up with a dress I probably never would have thought I wanted!
  13. Hey there! I am also planning on Jan (or maybe Feb) 2012! We are hoping to book Moon Palace in Cancun. You can't book it yet, so at this point we are just waiting for the New Year to come, then it will open up for booking! Good luck with yours!
  14. Thank you! This really helps! I didn't know where to start when coordinating for potentially 50+ people. Do you ask people to tentatively RSVP when you send out your STD? I did notice they always want to know how many, and its hard to say at this point! Congrats to you! Where and when will you be getting married? Good luck with all your planning also!
  15. I am hoping to also have a 2012 wedding! We are thinking Jan/Feb 2012 in Cancun. My first choice is Moon Palace, but they won't book anything until after the New Year. I have to admit, it all seems very daunting...I don't even know where to start! The one thing I will be doing is sending out STD as soon as we get a date in the form of a "message in a bottle". Our list so far is 90 people, but I know it will be more like 50 or under. Whew! I'm already starting to get a headache thinking about all the things that I have ahead of me! Haha!
  16. These are great I love how your dogs are with you. We also have 2 dogs, and they are a very important part of our life and want to include them when we do ours too.
  17. Hey Everyone! I'm new to all of this, so I don't quite know where to start! My FI and I have decided we want to get married in Cancun at Moon Palace, Jan/Feb 2012. We will be booking after the holidays. Once we do that...I don't know what to do next! Anyone have any suggestions of what the next steps should be after booking your venue? I've heard some people mention something about TAs, but I have never used one, and wouldn't really know where to go for that (and do they charge?). Thanks for your help!
  18. These are awesome! What a great way to get people excited! I will have to take a look at that company when I need mine!
  19. UPDATE! I actually got a response from MP this morning! Wow that was pretty darn fast from what I've heard. So I got an email from Jennifer Gamboa, the Wedding Sales Assistant, and said this: "Good Day! We are currently not booking weddings for 2012 at the moment. You will need to check back with us in January. We don't have any waiting list dates and times are subject to availability. Thank you and have a wonderful day!" So looks like early Jan 1st I will be up and trying to book a date on thier site! Wish me luck!
  20. Thank you so much! I know this would be so much more frustrating without all of you!
  21. Hello Everyone! I have to say this is one great website...however I'm still trying to figure things out on here! My fiance and I got engaged Aug 2009, and we were actually supposed to be getting married Aug 28th 2010. I ended up postponing (for a few reasons) largely because our guest list was getting so out of control! I was starting to have anxiety over standing up in front of 250+ people saying my vows, and the center of such large attention. Now that things have settled, we decided the best way to keep it small and intimate was to do a destination wedding. We have not picked a specific date yet, but we are hoping to do Jan/Feb 2012 at Moon Palace in Cancun. I have to say I am a little intimidated about the task ahead! I don't even know where/how to start! At this point on the MP website, I do not have the option to submit a request for 2012. I can see it fills up FAST and want to make sure we get the date (and more importantly the time) we want. I ended up contacting them using the "contact us" tab on their site to ask them what I can do to make sure we get the date we want, but I have not heard from them yet! I have heard they can be a little slow at responding, so I will just have to be patient! I have to say I am getting some negative feedback about Mexico. My parents are very concerned...to ease some of the nervousness I have been sending them loads of websites/blogs/info that I find on the Internet. They are slowly warming up to it, but the next hurdle will be convincing everyone else its safe too! Thank you all for your postings! Even though I am TERRIBLE at making decisions (especially when I have tons of options), hopefully this website will help me be more proactive! I know I will be looking to you all for all my random rants, raves, questions, and concerns! Thanks in advance!
  22. Hey Lovely Ladies! I'm new to this website, and find it SO useful! Knowing you ladies are going through all the same things makes me feel better! Anyways, I have always battled with my weight, and of course now that I am planning a wedding (in a beach setting no less), I am DETERMINED to lose the weight and be one sexy bride! That being said, I have tried just about EVERY diet out there! So far I had the most sucess with Atkins, and more recently HCG (http://hcgdietinfo.com/HCG_Diet_Simeons_Manuscript.htm). I did a 23 day round of HCG in Sept and lost 13lbs! I am 25, 4'11, and at my heaviest I was 168. At the end of my HCG round I was 143lbs. I would like to lose another 30lbs or so.... we have not set a date yet, but we are shooting for NOV 2011....just under a year to get into shape! Anyone else who is doing this diet, I would love to start a support group with lots of tips, advice, recipes and more! Good luck to all you brides out there! Kelly
  23. I LOVE everything about your wedding! The lounge idea is great and has such a fun look to it, and of course the location for the reception is exactly what I am looking for. We are still trying to set a date (probably Nov 2011) and pick a resort (which I lean closer to MP every posting). As far as the "no outside vendors" rule, how did you get around that? Did Zuniga (Deco Cancun), photographers, and flowers for your BM not apply? We are thinking we would have no more than 50 people attend, but of course don't know where they'd plan to stay yet. Were there extra fees for having the private reception/Terrace all to yourselves? (I'm sure you answered this, but I have forgotten after reading everything! Haha) Congrats and thanks for posting!
