If you can have the wedding local with no regrets,then do it locally...My mom had said similar things to me but I know I will regret it if I can't get married on a tropical island. I just picture it being the perfect moment even if it was just us. I know it hurts and bothers you more because it comes from your mother(b/c it hurt me) but it comes with the destination wedding,Not everyone can come and that's ok....It's OUR day!

I'm confused about the photogrpher situation.My photographer HDC told me we were ok since we booked him for our April 2012 wedding prior to this change..He said that Dreams had requested a list from him of the brides that were already booked with him.I haven't received an email from WC.I just emailed her now.

We are using hdc as well

my photographer said it was going forward from tomorrow no more outside photographers.whew

I had always had wanted a wedding near the beach somewhere tropical.My mom was not all for our destination wedding because she felt tht people would be spending alot of money just to come to our wedding.She's now come @ a little since I booked it and told her basically it's what we wanted and waaay cheaper(we are paying ourselves too).As for family members,I already have in my mind that not everyone will be able to come but I'll still have things the way I want.In the end I think that's what matters

My fiance' and i live together already in a house and pretty much have everything.I think you should def still have a shower,it's always nice to get new stuff.You could always put the stuff away and break it out at later date.I've never been to a money shower.Maybe give people the option,

Thanks.I'm going to look into AA.So, are your guests booking n their own?If so do you still get the 6th room free that way?

Not sure what we are gong to do.The hotel offers the groom a free room the night before wedding based on availability.I like the idea of not staying the night before together.We've lived togther for almost 3 years now though so I don't know how good of a sleep I'd get with him not there.I'll have to think more about this and talk to him about it.

We included on our wedding website on the postcards & magnets.On our website we made a little section as to" why we chose paradise for our wedding"?We just explained that we had always wanted to get married on the beach with the tropical setting as our background.We also mentioned that this choice is more afforfdable for us to have the wedding of our dreams and we respect and understand if guets can't make it...

We did vista print too.We got the 100 postcards for free as well as 25 small magnets for free.Oh and we got 140 adress labels for free too!Love vista print!

I experienced the same problem.My own mother wasspend the money to come to our wedding. and still is a little negative over the whole destination wedding idea.She expressed the same concerns to me that:" how can I put that on peope to spend all that money to see me get married".I just keep pep talking myself that this is what we want.We want to get married some where tropical near the beach and have it as simpe as possible.Plus we are paying for it(def cheaper to have destination wedding i think). I was wondering the same thing if I should extend the save the dates to people I would of invited if it was an at home wedding?Even if I really don't think they'd come.I wouldnt want it to backfire and have a huge destination wedding that I didn't budget myself for.lol On the back of my save the date postcards(I'm at work so don't have exact words with me,I'll msg u later with it) I wrote that I understand that with a destination wedding I know mand won't be able to come and we respect and understand if you can't.I also put to visit our wedding website to leave a tentative reply.I had read on here somewhere that bride had did this and she sent an invatation to the peope who replied yes.Thought this was a good idea so might do thngs that way too. I feel the same way,this wedding is about us and what we want!!!(I have 2 children from previous and think destination wedding was perfect for them too to experience)

We are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana on April 27th 2012...I must of missed the thread about photophil.I got to read up on him.I was thinking of going with hdc.Their prices seem reasonable & I've read good things about them.They want a $200 depositif you want to reserve but don't know which package you want yet.

I thought planning a destination wedding was supposed to be simple?I'm just in the early stages though so who knows what's ahead for me....I'm sure everything will turn out great and you will have the wedding of your dreams!Stay positive

Have any of you ladies picked your reception place choice?I understand it's a first come first serve basis right?The wc says I can choose now but not sure which one.I'd like to have the Portofino if I have a group that's @30(have a feeling I'd have more then this but you never know) but if larger I'd want the himitsu.

Originally we wanted to have wedding in Aruba but when we looked at the wedding packages offered at those,Mexico & DR had way better ones.That and its a reasonable price for guests to travel.DR I feel has it all !After stalking this site for awhile we narrowed the hotel down to Dreams Resort

yea I know that the price of the trip will determine who's coming for me as well.That's why I'm looking for best deal :)Guess I'll wait a little bit and see what happens.

Glad I came across this thread.I was thinking of making my rsvp date 2-3 months ahead of time but now I'm thinking I need to make it earlier like you ladies.It will make things easier!

We are getting married on a fri and right now we are thinking of doing either sun-sun or mon- mon.Then we are going to come home for a week or 2 & then take a honeymoon somewhere.We are not definate with these plans but hope for it to go this way

Did the travel agent recommend to wait and see?If so how long?When I had looked this past Nov(to get an idea for next yr). on Expedia it was showing @1000 per person for 7 nights with air. for this May.I know it's expedia but I just figured it would be somewhat @ that price.

I've been working with Patty from this site(wright travel agency).She said that sometimes the group rate isn't a deal,it's just to ensure that you have rooms blocked for your guests.She also mentioned that maybe since it's so far in advance that that's why there's no deal and to wait a little bit and try again....Yes please let me know what your travel agent says.Back in Nov.
