Alma! I'm so glad you are getting married at GP as well! Since you are doing a beach reception in January, I would LOVE to see lots of pics and hear all about it to see if this is what I would like to do as well. Given that my wedding is May, January should still give my FI and I plenty of time to discuss and decide. Your wedding is getting close now!!! Congrats!

@ Chicago I really like the way those flowers look. I would love to see pics when you get them in! @Carribean Lover I think I have my mind set on shipping our OOT bags (just the bags) because I really want guests to be surprised and have their "wecome" package when they arrive. We chose to go with the collapsilble market baskets which are just WAY too big to even consider packing in any suitcase when we will have 20+ of them. I guess I am going to have to take my chances. If they dont' make it...then, I guess we will figure out something once we get down there and use those for thank you gifts? sigh, the stresses of a destination wedding LOL To all: I am going to vent for a minute...I lost 4 of my original six bridesmaids in one week! 2 said they couldn't afford it and 2 told me they were pregnant (in the same week!) One is due a week before the wedding and one is due the week after...what are the odds of that? So anyway, I just added another one who I thought originally wouldn't be able to come. So now I have 2 bridesmaids and a MOH. I am happy with this, however, I think all of my FI's groomsman are still in for a total of 5. Is it bad to have the wedding party uneven? I figure that it is already a non-traditional type wedding so it is ok to break some "rules." How should they walk?

@natalie1987 I am torn about the "real" flowers versus the "real touch" flowers myelf. Some of the samples Carolina sent me in the pictures were nice, however, there wasn't a lot of fuschia color....My FI really wants "real" flowers, so I have considered getting a really nice bouquet of real flowers from the resort (the upgrade) and maybe doing real touch for my bridesmaids and groomsman? Another option I have considered is purchasing a few "real touch" flowers in the type flower and colors that I really want to add into the real bouquet...would this work? Also, if you are considering a flower for your hair, considering a "fake" for back up since one post I read said that when the bridesmaids tried to put the flower in the bride's hair, it ripped, but luckily she had packed a clip in flower from Claires for back up.

@ Chicago Thanks so much for the picture! I am able to see it! I am excited to see the fuschia color. That is what I am going with. Our colors are fuschia & black. Did she happen to mention if she can use them at the ceremony & the reception? I would like for the reception to coordinate. I wonder if they would have enough to do so? Are you doing a private beach party as well? I would REALLY like to have the reception within the party area. We have hired DJ Mannia who will set up a lighted dance floor, and I would like to be able to enjoy it for the entire time and not wait for people necessarily to finish eating! I think this would make people feel not so rushed....more a leisurely pace??? I'm with you.... PAST BRIDES PLEASE SEND/POST PICS if you have had a beach reception and/or party! Thanks!!!

Hey girls! I am read some posts regarding having a beach reception versus in one of the restaurants. This thread has grown so much, it is hard to keep up! I didn't even think about this until I read it on here. I think that might be a great idea! The thought of rain makes me nervous, but I think it would be nice if guests didn't have to transition from a restaurant to the beach for the after party. Does anyone know if they could set up dinner tables for a beach reception where they would host the private beach party? I read one review that said La Uva restaurant is right behind where they have the private beach party, so do you girls think it makes sense just to keep the "dinner" part of the reception in the restaurant and the "party" part of the reception on the beach? I'm so stressed over this LOL decisions, decisions...plus it is so hard doing this "blindly" when we haven't (and probably won't) done a sight visit. P.s. If anyone from Grand Palladium, Royal Suites Turquesa, Bavaro, Palladium Palace, etc. have had a beach party and/or a beach reception for your wedding, can you please please send me pics! Tracey! Your wedding looked like so much fun and is much of the reason why I decided on the Grand Palladium! Was there music during the dinner service? Did you provide the columns for the beach party or did the resort? I am thinking of having the dinner on the beach so guests do not have to transition from restaurant to beach party, they can just stay for both...what do you suggest?

I am doing OOT bags (I'm expecting at least doing a minimal of 20 =( ) I emailed Carolina about them. She responded that you are able to ship to the resort ahead of time, and that they will put them in the rooms for you. Yay! I plan on only shipping my actual "bag" and maybe towels if I decide to put a towel in each bag. Any toletries or medicines, etc. I will have in my suitcase. I am planning on my fiance and I bringing all the OOT bag goodies down with us and giving all the other "stuff" like cake topper, decor, etc. to family and friends to bring with them. We arrive a day before guests, so after we stroll around the resort and get a cocktail, we will have a "fun" tasks ahead of us for assembling the bags! ....My FI just doesn't know what he's in for LOL! I plan on hopefully giving them to Carolina the next morning to disperse amoungst the guests rooms as most guests will not start arriving until the afternoon. Hope this is helpful!

Chicago - You may have answered this question already, so sorry, but when Carolina sent you the information for the sashes, did she send pictures or just colors? Our colors are fuscia and black. I need to know if she has a dark pink color and how many she has since I would like them used for both the ceremony and the reception. Does anyone know if they decorate this extensively for the reception? I think we have close to 20 rooms booked so far so I want to see if I am going to need to purchase chair sashes myself.... I would love to see pics of the cake, ceremony, etc. My fiance and I are getting married at The Grand Palladium on May 28th, 2011. We are staying in the RST along with our guests. We are planning on a beach ceremony, cocktails/apps, private dinner and beach party. Good to know about the menus so I can print ahead of time. Can you send me information about the Boat Dinner. That sounds like a great "welcome" for the guests. Also, did you make OOT bags for your guests?

We havent' decided what the groomsmen are wearing or their gifts. Those are the 2 things are left up my fiance, so hence, they are undecided. So far for the bridesmaids, (which I'm pretty sure I'm done), I got black duffle/carry on bags with fuschia polka dots, I Monogram makeup train case & matching monogram manicure set (both in black & fuschia), I monogram silver bracelet (kind of looks like a Tiffany chain bracelet & my name is Tiffany ), fuschia flip flops with rhinestones from Victoria Secret Pink, monogram initial notecard set, and the earrings they will be wearing (silver fluer-de-lis outlined in black with fuschia rhinestone --- My fiance & I met, after not seeing each other since high school, at Mardi Gras & he lived in Louisana for several months when we first started dating so the fleur-de-lis takes on meaning for us). I think this is pretty good. I will probably add a nail polish closer to time so that all of their toes will match! Also, I haven't decided about their hair. I will try to take a pic later on and post for you. I am storing everything wedding related at my parent's house at the moment. I haven't decided how to make my MOH stand up or what special gift to give her. Suggestions??

I haven't thought about using a local florist. Flowers aren't a huge deal to me, and the pictures the resort sent me look pretty good. What are the costs like for using an outside florist? Does the florist you are using have a website?

I am a bit OCD in planning events and planning in general so my Type A has prevailed in the wedding plans! My fiance & I got engaged the last week in July (on his bday 28th) in Punta Cana on the beach. We absolutely loved the area so it was a no-brainer for us where we wanted to get married. Since returning from our trip, I have already completed the following in my planning, and I am willing to help however I can! They are doing our pictures & video Bridesmaid Dresses Choosen & Deposits put down for some Mother of the Bride Dress Selected and Paid For Colors Chosen: We are going with Black & Pink/Fuscia & White Wedding Party Selected & Asked Travel Agent Selected & Flights Booked: We are using The Vacation Store of Miami. Ask for Mary, she is nice, and you can say I referred you...Tiffany Hatley Partial Groom Gift from Bride purchased Bridesmaid Gifts, Bags, Jewelry & Shoes (I bought some cute flip flops, but am still deciding) purchased Some Decorations purchased: So far, I have pink & black fans, personalized napkins, & personalized matchbooks Guests Bags Ordered: We are using a collapsible market tote...now I just have to work on the fillers. Inviation packets have been sent to all guests with formal invitation and a packet of information for travel Registrys have been started (I picked out our Christmas china pattern even though my reluctant fiance does NOT want us to register for this! LOL) I have my dress which is already in for some minor alterations That's all I can think about off the top of my head LOL Like I said, I am a bit OCD with the planning and had a lot of it done rather quickly. I am chairing a big nonprofit event in Jan, so I am trying to get a lot of wedding stuff done so I can focus on that.

I know my bag will over-weigh! I'm expecting to do around 25 bags (one per couple or one per single), and we are using the collapsible market totes which are going to take up sooo much room in the suitcase! I also want to do a towel in the totes, as well as, other items. I am hoping to have one suitcase dedicated to my clothes and one dedicated to these items. I am going to have my mother, MOH, and bridesmaids bring down other items that for decorations. Hopefully this will help. I am going to contact the resort about shipping, but I know most of them charge you a fee to hold or don't allow you to ship at all...plus I am OCD with planning, and I am nervous about doing this. Has anyone had any experience with shipping materials prior to arrival? I am getting married in Punta Cana, D.R. in May 2011 at The Grand Palladium Resorts & Spa. Also, do you have the OOT in the rooms upon guests arrivall, do you leave them at the front desk for the guests to receive when they check in, or do you personally give them one?
