  1. I bought my TTD from DH Gate and it was a steal of a deal! I also got it pretty fast. The "chiffon" is not very high quality chiffon, but still looks really nice and no one will notice any different in the pictures. The measurements were right on. I also ordered a dress (made to size) brand new that I was considering for a bridesmaid dress for $2, yes $2...it is black chiffon. The price included shipping in it. They also sent extra fabric as well. Even if I had hated the dress (which I didn't) I couldn't have gotten that much fabric for $2. Like ebay, just be sure to read the reviews first.
  2. Beautiful pics! Look like you guys had tons of fun! Loved you bouquet with all of the trinkets. Were they real flowers are real touch? Where did you get your starfish bouquet jewel & also, where did you get your sand ceremony frame?
  3. Ha I found a dress I loved online and bought it (knock off) on DH Gate for $99 (that price included shipping!) It was made to my measurements. The dress is really pretty, however, it made me a little "boobalicious" (I have a small waist and I am petite, but I have ta-tas ) After 2 fittings, I still wasn't completely comfortable b/c I didn't want people thinking "boobs" when I walk down the beach. Luckily I ordered ITso early that I was able to find another dress. Thanks to a wonderful mom for helping me out on my budget & buying my ceremony dress. I plan on wearing the original dress for my TTD and feel it is prob more appropriate for that. I love my new dress.
  4. I just realized that I have the "extras" for 2011 document, but it still isn't very detailed. It just states "extra" on somethings without pricing. For example, I would like to upgrade the beach set up for the ceremony but there aren't prices for those "upgrades"...guess I have an email going out to Carolina soon... For the private reception, I am thinking of just serving wine and then having the open bar at the beach party...I wonder what the extra charge is for serving just wine at dinner.... I wonder if they will work with you at all on the day/night passes for your photographer. I am going to have to buy 2 passes for the photographer, the videographer, and the DJ, plus one for the pastor and an additional one for the photographer for the next day when we do TTD unless we go off site which I think my photog does that...but that may be an extra charge with the photog...soooo much to think about WEDDING DAY: · Extra flower decoration at wedding site · Musical trio: US$ 150. 5. I hadn't thought about the DIY mint matchbooks...that's a new project for this weekend LOL Did you use cardstock or regular paper?
  6. You bring up a question I have really been meaning to ask, and I'm sure there's a thread out there but I haven't searched yet.....How do we pay for all of this? I have to pay my photog, the DJ, the pastor, and of course, the resort...not too mention all of the "tipping" and the cash I am carrying to purhcase little Mamajuanas for the OOT bags and cigars for the beach party.... Past brides, what was your method of payment and who did you tip (and the amount if you don't mind sharing)
  7. FYI - Different subject - If any of you are looking for the "Daily Spanish for Dummies" book for your OOT bag...I have been on another thread where I found out that Office Depot has them marked down to $1. My mom went to 3 different ones today (Birmingham, AL area) and found the amount I needed.
  8. Aww I think it is cute. I want to order it for myself if it comes in pink and black... My mom ordered this dress which she is having shortened to an angle at the bottom and it will be in a fuschia color. My wedding colors are fushia & pink. We ordered it about 4+months ago from a local bridal shop and it JUST came in this week. I am anxiousl to see how it turned out in the pink color. We are both going for fittings this weekend.
  9. FYI - Different subject - If any of you are looking for the "Daily Spanish for Dummies" book for your OOT bag...I have been on another thread where I found out that Office Depot has them marked down to $1. 10. Oh wow! I love this..where did this come from! BTW..I'm new to this thread. My wedding is actually in May but I joined this thread b/c you girls have some really great discussions & ideas. The May thread has basically become a log of dates and locations.
  11. Wow, I have the best mom ever. She drove all around different areas of the city for me today since I'm at work and found the amount of books I needed at 3 different Office Depots. Thanks so much for the tip!!! $1 ...can't beat that!
  12. Yes, I am going to do a private dinner. I wanted it to feel intimate. I am making my own menu and place cards. I read that Carolina hasn't done this for all brides (I suppose you have to remember to ask her), however, I want all of my printed materials such as programs & menu cards to match so I am printing my own and VistaPrint makes it pretty easy to do so. I am just wondering about the timing of everything since Carolina told me my wedding would be at 5pm. I am hoping that this gives us enough time to take pics with everyone and several with just my FI and I before the sun sets, eat dinner, and still have plenty of time to party on the beach since I have read that they make you close the beach party by 11 or 12......
  13. I have many of the same questions you have, and I am hoping some past brides who have paid for "upgrades" could help us out. I am neverous that Carolina won't haven't everything booked as well. The only thing that she has really confirmed is the actual wedding ceremony which we have our signed agreement for. Out beach party has to be private b/c there are so many of us and the space doesn't seem large, and I have already hired DJ Mannia to play and set up a light up dance floor on the beach. I am only giving Carolina a CD for the ceremony music which I think it has been confirmed that they are able to play a CD for you during that time. I am just curious about background music during dinner. I would like to have some but not really sure how to go about this....
  14. @chell44 Thank you so much! I saved it this time in a Word Document for reference! I thought I remembered the beef medallions being the favorite. Although I love Salmon, I think beef would be the more popular choice for a group. I wonder what is service with it...rice? veggies? I would love to do the onion soup & a ceasar salad (I'm sure that they would probably do this for an extra charge). I want people full so they are able to hang a the beach party as I'm sure several of them will already be good to go on "refreshments" from the day...lol @richarsd I believe you are probably right. I think the first one looked like a buffet. I would like to have a head table. I am really leaning towards La Uva based on reviews I've read & with 40+ guests, I think I should be ok on size b/c I know some brides have stated that Carolina is picky about letting you book certain areas if your party isn't large enough. I just hope she can give me a definite b/c it will be on my printed iteneraries, etc.
  15. sad face... I called my local office depot & they said that they don't carry it
  16. Those were great instructions! I am really thinking about doing the frame now...I think that is so neat & a keepsake!
  17. Great to hear...I will be sending my mom out on a mission today.. LOL Yay for my mom who has been a tremendous help!
  18. All of our glass items such as our toasting flutes are going to be carry ons for myself & guests, so hopefully we won't run into a big problem. I like the idea of making it a candle! That's neat!
  19. Also, I can't find the page(s) on this thread where the suggested menu options were discussed. I remember seeing it, but the thread is so long now, I can't find it. ....I think someone mentioned beef medallions as being a favorite??? I would like to go ahead and plan this with Carolina so I can get my menu cards printed & get those out of the way.
  20. Can you ladies help me out? As you know, Carolina sends pics in a PDF packet showing the "upgrades" without ANY additional information. I am trying to figure out which restaurants these pictures were taken in. They seem to be in two different locations. I would like to have the decor from the pink with the nice floral arrangements, but i think I like the set up for the "blue" picture where you have a head table.
  21. @rosieposie I would also like to know where you got your sand ceremony frame. I haven't been able to locate one. I have a monogram vase right now, but if I could find a frame, I would most likely go with that instead. Thanks!
  22. Just curious if anyone has any "up to date" pics from Carolina? I've noticed that a lot of pics from the dinners have the tables covered with a dark mustard yellow color as the base and a white cloth as the overlay. Do you know if they can do different colors or at least all white? That color doesn't fit with my color scheme at all. She had also sent me via email (as I sure you guys got) a pdf of pictures and one had a picture of the tables set up with beautiful floral arrangements. It didn't event look like the same space. I wonder if this is a true pic and what the cost is to do that? There are really any costs listed for this type of upgrade. If any past brides have additional dinner and beach party pictures to share, that would be great.
  23. I'm getting married in Punta Cana this year... but my colors are different. I might be interested in the key/tip holders but need at least 24, where did you get them?
  24. I'm looking for the daily spanish for dummies as well!!!!
  25. Yes. I have sent an email to her about that before, I just hope it works out. I'm just trying to figure out which building a should request to be booked in which are the "real" new rooms.
