I did like one of the cakes that MP had on their wedding website but it wasn't on any of the optional service photos my WC emailed me. I copied the photo and I'm going to send it to my WC to see if she can make it happen. I really don't want to customize it too much since I have seen some really bad cakes out there wherein they tried to have the cakes almost custom-made.
  2. I also got the invitations from PaintingsbyShanon on Etsy. They weren't cheap but everyone loved them. I also had the wedding programs and thank you cards to match the invitation set.

I posted a review of him on another thread. Saved a lot of money using him versus the resort photographer. I'm glad to hear good reviews about him! I'm thinking of getting him a day pass versus booking him a room at our hotel since Moon Palace does not allow any outside vendors (photographers included) inside the resort. However, some brides have been able to get away with this by booking their photographer a room at the hotel. His work looks really good and I cannot complain about his prices at all!
  5. I was just thinking of using the resort's upgraded photography package but now I am seriously thinking about bringing in Octavio Montes. I've seen his work and I really like and his rates are really competitive. Just out of curiosity, to those MP brides who brought in an outside photographer, how many nights stay did you book them for? Is there a minimum night requirement to stay in MP?
  6. Kbloco1, I hope you don't mind me asking but did he have any special stipulations and other charges on top of his photography packages? He just sent me a quote and his prices are very competitive. In addition to that, his work really appeals to my aesthetic. Are you booking him a room at the hotel where you're staying too?
  7. I asked him for a quote and his prices are really competitive. I was considering just buying the whole photography package provided by the resort (ceremony + 2 hours of reception) but now I'm having second thoughts and thinking about using Octavio instead and just booking him a room at the hotel. I'm waiting to hear back from him if he's available on the wedding day.
  8. Thanks for posting your pics Vgirl. They looked really good. Your guest pics turned out great and I loved the parasols on the aisle- very nice touch.

  10. Looking at your pictures, I find myself liking Cecilia Dumas' shots rather than David Pena's... Now I am starting to panic and look for an outside wedding photographer.
  11. In regards to the fire dancers, I think 450 is the lowest DecoCancun will go. I was originally quoted 500 for 3 fire dancers for 15 minutes but when I mentioned that some people got theirs for 450, Lily gave me the 450 for 2 fire dancers for 15 minutes. With tax, that comes to about 500 for 2 firedancers for 15 minutes or 550 for 3 firedancers for 15 minutes. I am also using DecoCancun to help me with my reception decorations. She just sent me a catalog with some of their arrangements. I'm going to give her my budget for decorations and hopefully, we can arrange something.
  12. Moon Palace Resorts is an all-inclusive resort and it's family friendly. They have a ton of activities that kids will enjoy. I heard they also have a Michael Jackson show every Monday.

Yes the Palace Passport to Savings is still valid. In addition, they had a Free Kids Summer promotion where children 12 and under stay free. This really helped a lot because I have lots of children in the wedding entourage. This is only valid though if you stay three nights or longer. It includes unlimited excursions to Chichen Itza which is what I am doing for my guests. All you have to do is provide transportation but MP can also assist you with that.
  15. Any other MP photographers that they would recommend? Unfortunately, time and my budget will not allow me to get me an outside photographer...
  16. Anyone have any ideas for centerpieces on a budget? I got a quote from MP that the centerpieces were about $50 each. I will be bringing my own votive candles and wrap them with fake grass but I was looking for at least one catchy centerpiece per table. I love the floral centerpieces from DecoCancun but at $150 per centerpiece, that would just be breaking the bank
  17. Thanks for the review! Prices did have changed and the packages have changed a bit but it's always so magical to hear the experiences of other brides.
  18. I have to admit, the invitations weren't cheap. I had them custom-made for me by Etsy vendor PaintingsbyShanon.
  19. I'm just going to go with plain old starfish that I buy here and bring to Mexico (I know that the resort will jack up prices for those). I'm already doing OOT bags for my guests and a free excursion to Chichen Itza for those interested. I can't go too crazy!
  20. Thanks for the review! Everything looks beautiful!
  21. I am glad to hear you had the wedding of your dreams. As long as you're satisfied with it, that is all that matters. Thanks for the review!
