I just wanted to thank you for letting us know about the kits. I have just been to three walmarts and have wiped them out. My wedding isn't till next year and not sure on the exact count of guests but I am making 42 bags just in case and if I need more I will worry about it than. I highly suggest getting to walmart and getting them. They are cute small kits and for 97 cents it's a steal. I have looked into Purell wipes and motrin to put in the oot bags and have found that staples has a really great deal on both the wipes are about 6.49 bucks for 100 pack and the motrin is about $13 for 50 pack. If I see anything else I will let you all know : )

I just saw this thread and have taken notes to a couple of books that I will be reading soon. For all the Twilight & Sookie Stackhouse lovers I have a suggestion of another series of books that I just finished. It is the Anita Blake series it is about 20 books I am on book 18 and I am hooked. It takes everything from the other books to the next level. All the books are filled with action and the main character Anita is a take no crap from anyone type of women.

I totally agree I only care about my family which are my sisters, brother and mom and of course my FI and his mom and sister to be there. The people who get me pissed are the ones that arent even invited and are putting there opinions on MY wedding. Luckily most of guest can afford to go and have already booked. So the only people really pissing me off are the ones not invited or my FI friend's wives. And they seem to think that I need to take their planning tips. no thank you we all spent alot of money going to their weddings and give more than most people and even spent money on hotel stay when the wedding was a couple of hours away because they requested it. I mean the people complaining are the ones that are taking vacations all over the place and go wine tasting every weekend and spending god knows how much money. AHH they just piss me off but their husbands seem to have no problem with going to our wedding maybe we can just invite the husbands and not wives hmmmmm

I can definately understand. I have been asked that since we decided on a destination wedding. But I just tell them that this is what I want and I don't care if people come or not and they should be lucky that they are getting an invite. I tell them all I am only inviting people I can actually stand to be around for three days or more and if they can't afford to come well to bad. I was working in the wedding industry for 6 years and have seen my share of home town weddings and that is not my thing. Spending 60k+ to have a wedding and invite everyone you have ever met because if you don't invite them and they find out you look bad than during the reception spending the next 5 hours going around talking to everyone that you invited is really not my cup of tea. I have actually been dealing with my FI's bestman's fiancee telling us that she might not come to the wedding because they are getting married two months after us and they might not have the money. I would totally understand if they were actually paying for everything but guess what they are not. All they had to pay for was a plane ticket thats it we were covering everything else. But now my FI wants us to cover everything for them. Which I'm not happy about as they new we were getting married in DR before they were even engaged. AHHH just needed to vent a little : )

I also have to stop comparing between the books and shows. There are times that I don't know if I saw it on the show or read it. I agree Tara is overacting and I don't really like it but I think that if she stayed the same every season we would all get bored with her and want her to change. I feel we all have an idea of where the show is going but not really. At least by reading the books but it is still so different from the books that I'm not sure if the show is going to hit all the points the books did. For example are we going to get a Sookie and Eric makeout scene that is not dream before bill gets saved? I hope so : ) I am also wondering about Jessica and Tommy "thats a giant 6th grade boy little league and your a smokin hot vampire your the majors ".

I agree with the other ladies go to Mac or Sephora and have a makeup trial. One to see the colors that will look good with your skin tone, eye color, etc. I also think that you should do a hair trail at a salon just to get an idea of how you want to hair to look and make sure that the hair style you like will be something that you like

Hello Ladies I just came across this thread and excited that other DW brides also love this show and finally have people to talk about the show with. So I love the show and the books. I have read all 10 books and watch the sho religiously. And I have tons of love for Eric he is Delicious : ) My FI is also a big fan of the show and he doesn't mind when I start to swoon over him. He just start laughing at me LOL So who watched last nights show?? Thoughts?

The $1 flip flops in the states was in May 22nd. My FI and I hit several different Old Navy stores and were able to come out with 60 pairs!! But if you go on the their website you can still buy some of the flip flops for 97 cents each just depending on color. Good Luck

I'm glad I found this thread. I want to lose about 50+ lbs by my wedding day and would like to lose 25 lbs by mid september. I know I can do it but motivation is just not there. I mean I used to be in great shape but the stress of life and health took a major toll on me and the fact that my FI and his family love to eat and of course he doesn't gain a pound while I gain the weight for the both of us. I have tried WW several times and it just doesn't seem to work for me. What has worked for me in the past has been to find a work out partner. I have trying to convince some friends of mine to be a workout partner a couple of a days a week but I have been unsuccessful as our schedules just don't work. So if anyone in the New Jersey area wants to meet up a couple of days for biking, walking, tennis or anything else PM me : )

Have you showed this forum and shown him pictures of other destination weddings. I mean if his idea of a wedding is just ceremony and hanging out with his guys friends that doesn't sound like a wedding me at all and sounds very SELFISH. I mean its wedding between two people who home together to show their love with family and friends. If it is a ceremony to him that why not just go to the courthouse and get married. I guess I just can't wrap my head around some men and their idiotic ideas of a wedding. I know a wedding is between the bride and groom but I mean come on the groom needs to give a little and stop comparing with his cousin and stop listening to his family because he is marrying you not them.

Wow I just read the entire thread and I'm so sorry your having such a difficult time planning the wedding. I guess I'm lucky to have FI who just lets me do what I want as if I was to have my dream wedding here in the states it would cost 100k so our budget for our entire DW is 25k at tops but I'm hoping to be way under. I think you will need to talk with your FI regarding the wedding and I mean a real talk of what he wants and sees as a great wedding and also showing him your ideas and what you were thinking about. One of the ways we aren't going to spend money is on flowers I do want flowers but I will not go overboard I think the point of a DW is that the destination has beauty already whether it is on the beach or underneath the palm trees that you don't need to add a million flowers all over the place like you would if you were to get married back home were you are trying to create the feeling of being somewhere else (if that makes any sense-used to be in the wedding business) If your FI wants to hang out with the guys maybe the day before the big day have it like what he wants him playing bball and what not with his friends and you with the girls.

Depending on your budget and how important pictures are to you should determine if you will go with the house photographer or another. I'm not that big pictures however my soon to husband and my sisters are very big on them. Both my sisters work in the fashion industry (makeup artist and stylist) and told me that pictures are very important so I did some research and found a great photographer Photosouvenir in Punta Cana ther work looks really good and even other brides have loved them. They are pricey however it is worth it. I also tried to look for a photographer here in the states that I can bring over however it would have cost me $6,000+ really not worth it. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone I just found this thread and I'm sooo happy I found it. I thought I was the only May 2011 bride here. I have read everything and so glad that there are other brides like me who have done so much already. I will be getting married at Dreams La Romana DR May 7th. I have so far booked the location, photographer -PhotoSouvenir, DJ-Dj Mannia, Save the date sent(I have several people that we are inviting that need more than a year notice), Invitations on in the process of being made-Custom invites will post once I have, and I have also started shopping for OOT bags-Flip flops, bags so far. I have started looking for a dress yet as I want to shed a couple of pounds before I start.

Hello fellow DLR Brides, I have been reading this very long thread and everything has been so helpful. We are booked to get married 5/7/11 and I have already been doing all my booking. I am very anal with getting everything done and set early. So far I have contacted a dj, photogropher, hairstylist (who is a friend of mine) and Makeup artist (my sister she is a professional makeup artist and does photoshoots, mags, movies, videos etc she already told me she will not let anyone else do my makeup LOL). So my questions are if anyone knows if there is a cigar roller option or one I may contact. Also I saw that there are extras such as fireworks does anyone know if that is an option at DLR and are they worth it? And what excursions are available?
