I think sending invites are a personal choice and depends also on the people you are inviting. If they are tech savy people I say just do the STD and website. However if they are not Tech Savy and need constant reminder i think an invite will be needed. You don't have to do anything to fancy just like a follow up invite. Â I did save the date magnets, website and invites. Most of our guests are from outside the US (Taiwan, South America, France) and the others lack memory and I love my invites. Â So i suggest just do what you want and not what people expect you to do. Good Luck Happy planning : )

Dreams La Romana
jenngene2011 replied to VallieR's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Yea I saw them both about two weeks ago for Mariela's b-day she told me about your wedding. They both said it was great and beautiful and worth it. Which made my day because with so many people trying to bring us down for having a Destination wedding it is good to hear of guests having a great time and would go back again in a minute. Small world LOL. Â -

Gaby, Â I just went through your photos and it looks like you had a great time. I also noticed that I know some of your guests and bridal party(Marta, Mariela, Marcin, Luke, Paul). I know they had a great time. : ) Â Jenn -
The price might be pricey for some but what I paid is $530 for 75 invites. Includes: Passport with 12 pages Luggage tag checklist Map Boarding Pass Passport Holder Matching Thank you cards w/envelopes  I think the price is a great deal given the amount of items per invite. She has smaller packages for those who don't want to have so much. She is open to any ideas so if you need five pieces and want to combine your five pieces as passport invite, boarding passSTD, programs, etc.. When you contact her you let her know what you are looking for and give her your budget and she will work with you. She is sooo great to work and always responded to me quickly and never got upset when I kept I changing things. I can't say enough great things about her.  Â

So about two or three weeks ago I posted proofs of my invites. I have just received the physical sample of the invites and wanted to share.  When I first started looking for invites I went to a million and one designers some from my area and others online. I was quoted anywhere from $300 to $2000 for passport invites. After falling in love with the $2000 invites and I knew I would NEVER pay that much for invites I started looking yet again for another company who can do something similar and I found her on ETSY. Her name is Katrina and she is with April Twenty Five. She has been wonderful and is on top of her emails and does any quick changes you may want. I just love working with her that I feel like throughing another party just to use her for invites  Please ENJOY      Â

Hello, Â I just got back from Michaels (art & craft store) and found paper lanterns. They are on sale for 65 cents to $1.50 each depending on size. They had white, pink, blue, purple, orange. So if any of the ladies are looking for these please check out your local Michaels. They also have tons of beach and travel stuff on sale. Â I have also seen the large Lanterns at Ikea for about $5.99. Â Just thought I would share.

I am making welcome bags for all of our guests as it was in our budget. However if it was not in our budget I would have just done a welcome letter and a nice favor and maybe a basket as another bride had suggest in another thread. I feel if it is not in your budget you shouldn't do especially if you have some other must haves that you prefer your money to go to instead. But if you still feel you want to do something you can always do 2 baskets (1 for women & 1 men) and place them either in the bathroom where the reception will be held or at a small table outside or near the bathroom. You can bring the baskets to your room or let your MOH take point on it. The baskets are great as they can be done on a budget and you are giving that extra touch for just 15 to 20 dollars. just a thought : )

We decided to also NOT do AHR. From the beginning we decided we didn't want to do a 200+ wedding and if we did one at home that is what it would be. We wanted something more personal and intimate which is why we went with DW instead. But that is why we did there are many brides that want to do an At home reception it is purely a personal choice and you should do what you want to do not what other people think you should do.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share that I have booked my boudoir and engagement photo shoot with a really great Photog. His name is Jason Obrotka he mainly does magazine shoots, model shoots and celebs. He has agreed to do my pics at a very reasonalble rate. I met him through my sister as she is a makeup artist in the industry and they have worked in several shoots together. I have seen his work and everything is done tasteful and just photographed so well. I have a couple of pics of the work he did with my sis if you guys want to see. I just wanted to put it out there if anyone is looking.

Thank you all for the great comments. Raazzy5711: You are not a slacker at all. MSREDD3129: Yes that is why I picked these. I love how they all flow together and they will be organized in a holder which i forgot to add the pic. But once they are done i will post the final product. I am planning on sending mine out in September as most of the people we are inviting either teachers, live in other countries, or travel for business. They need us to send them invites way ahead of time instead of 3 to 4 months before.

babestaa: Where in Jersey are you from? I did not make these myself as I am not talented enough to put something like together. So I did tons of searching and found Katrina on Etsy (the link is below) She does amazing work. I like how you have the complete package that all fits together. I can't wait for the final product and trust me I will be taking tons of pics : ) http://www.etsy.com/shop/apriltwentyfive?ref=seller_info

What is the Format of your Reception??
jenngene2011 replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
The WC should take care of however since it is a destination wedding and from what I hear they are very busy if you want to keep everything organized and prepared instead of wondering when to do what the day of. It is good to at least have an idea of what you want. As soon don't want to do traditional wedding reception stuff. -
What is the Format of your Reception??
jenngene2011 replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Well in my experience with weddings. I used to work as a bridal assistant and ran weddings at a Banquet facilities here in NJ. The following is the basic format: Guest get seated for the reception Parents get introduced Bridal party gets introduced and usually lined up in formation for an arc Bride and Groom get introduced immediately following First dance first course is either out on table or is being served right after the father daughter dance Than the second course comes out speeches start than the main course any final speeches or videos to show the guests are done during this while everyone is eating than it's time to partyyyyyyyyyyyy than a break for cake(if you are cutting cake)/Garter and Bouquet Toss Dessert and more PARTY The main reason we did the parent dances in the beginning were for several reasons one was ALCOHOL either for you, your parent or the guests. Nothing ruins an intimate moment as someone falling in the middle of the dance or shouting cause they are too drunk to think about what they are doing. Also you want to do all this stuff while everyone is still sober and eating at the tables and not stop the dancing and try to gather everyone to sit at their tables. My plan is very simple and are still working on it: I am most likely not doing parent intro or bridal party Bride and Groom intro First dance (no father daughter dance as I don't have a dad and his passed) EAT & drink Speech during dinner or earlier Cake cutting than Dancing the night away i am still debating on the garter and bouquet toss. -
LOL these are so Funny!! Why is it that people leave there dogs inside there cars while they go shopping. Hello you knew you were going to the store or the mall. Leave your pet at home they don't need to be in the car getting heat stroke idiot! Why is every time I go to the movies there are massive lines with only half the registers open and half the teenaged staff just talking and BSing. Hello my movie is starting in five minutes and I want to get seats and pay for overprices popcorn and soda. Why is it everytime I go to the mall people don't know how to drive in the parking lot. Hello idiot I know you need to race to get to the spot but I mean come on you don't need to run everyone over. Why is it when I'm driving on the highway at night there seems to be that idiot teenager who doesn't realize he is driving with his highbeams thankyou I really didn't want to see the road but your lights in my eyes. Why is it guys seem to think that "yo ma can i get your number" really works.

Am I wrong to be upset? (FMIL dress)
jenngene2011 replied to bride2b10's topic in Just venting or funnies
I guess I'm lucky my FMIL is actually letting me and mom pick out what she is wearing to the wedding. She really does not have a fashion sense at all and would wear gym shorts and a shirt and clogs with socks on if she could. But she told us she doesn't want to look like she doesn't belond in the pics especially when she is standing next to my mom. As my mom likes to always me dressed up. I completely agree with the other ladies to let it go. Be happy that she will at least look beautiful in her gown however the color might not be what you wanted. There are much worse situations to really get mad at LOL -

Dreams La Romana

Jennifer & Eugene May 7, 2011 Thank you ladies for even more information regarding renting out the SSG. I wanted to let all of you know that I have contacted a friend of mine that has lots of family in DR and asked him if he knew anyone who can provide linens such as table cloths, sashes and etc.. He is going to provide me with their info once he has it but I wanted to offer this chance to other brides to find some local vendors so we are dragging the our entire house with us. I am trying to find as many local vendors as possibly as I am to paranoid of breakage or losing it intransit. So if anyone has any questions regarding anything outside the resort please let me know so I can ask them. -
Hello and welcome from another fellow Jersian. You will love this site like the rest of do.
