Yes we did that for my sons wedding. Dinner on terrace at Portofino ( was plenty private) then dancing and drinks at Las Rocas for 2 hrs $5 pp for drinks, brought an ipod hooked up to their speakers it was perfect. they drop your party off there and take you back to lobby or wherever. Dinner 6-8 dancing 8-10

We just had my sons wedding in Mayan Riviera and I spend a lot of time checking out photographers. We could not afford a lot of money. I found a great local photographer Luz Maria Avila out of Cancun. Let me say her price was under $1000 for 4 hrs and a disc of 50 pics to music then another 200+ on a cd. We are having a cinco de mayo party this Sat night will all those going to Mexico. I am handing out our OOT bags then and they can transport them to Mexico. One per couple one per single. I did not want to have the stress of taking everything.. Gonna have some awesome mexican food-margaritas and coronas to get the party started!

I bought insulated cups at Dollar Tree for $1.00 ordered labels they put on water bottles on etsy (she changed the size) and forunder $2.00 I think these are great.

I would not attempt to do OOT bags for 150 People. Plus how would you get all of that down there. I am just doing 20 and its a lot of $ even getting stuff for a buck!

You can get insulated glasses at dollar stores. I am getting labels made off etsy that they put on water bottles but you can order what size you want to put on the mugs (appx 2.50 each w label). They are not huge but at least 16 oz... I am ordering small candles in tins off etzy that she will personaized labels arouns 2bucks each. first aid kits 99 cents at target, gonna put a bag together with imodium, pepto tabs. tylenol key chain flashlights.

One thing you could do is what we are doing, is have a cocktail time after dinner. Its $5 pp drinks only and if you have 20 people you can have music. I was told up to 40 people for the ala cart restaurants over that have to have a private reception.. The cocktail time is only 2 hrs also. But 2 for dinner 2 for cocktails with music and drinks I think makes for a good inexpensive reception. They will give you the docking station for ipod with speakers.

In all of my travels I was the most uncomfortable with the people in Jamaica.. We have the same issue and my future DIL was in tears the other night because some in her family were upset that they were getting married in Mexico even through they were supportive at first have known for 9 months and have the money to go.. WTF.. I told her its your day and in the end whoever end up going you will not be disappointed. Only those that see the pictures afterwards will regret their decisions! Both sets of parents are going and sisters and brothers!

Target has a lot of travel size. I really think I am going to buy reg sz boxes of imodiam-tylenol etc and put them in individual jewerly bags that they sell at Hobby lobby etc and label them. The individual packages are nice but you are paying addt for the packaging..

Out last night watching my sons band play and I see by future DIL with tears in her eyes, I ask he what was going on, her family had just left and she said my aunt told me how certain people are really upset about them getting married in mexico. I told her I read all the time on here about how people are excited to begin with then turn it around. They have the finances to go but wont for varying reasons. I had to remind her this is their day and besides they are having a AHR where she is wearing her dress etc. Its not like they were getting married in a church if it was at home. Just makes me feel bad for her. Gave her a hug and said well I guess we will be having a shot for the ones that didnt decide to come!

I am the mother of the groom and am doing them for those coming. There are only 20 or so. We are going to have a get together before the trip and give them to everyone that comes, so we only have to transport a few. Plus doing one per couple and just including 2 of certain things like insulated glasses. Which I got at the dollar store and having custom labels from etsy put on so total cost liek $2.50 each. Hopefully people will pack them. I am trying to keep the cost down but I would imagine I will still spend $200 total for them. I spend alot of time on the net so its hard not to see something and not buy it.. Especially on etsy. I did it because I enjoy this kind of stuff, and have gone to Mexico numerous times so I know what kind of things would be helpful to have.
