I'd be worried about getting ready in time. It will take about an hour for hair, then make up, breakfast, dressing etc. Then what do you for the rest of the day until dinner.

I think it's more silly than anything, the poor guy is hassled by everyone who knows and is grabbing my hand to see the ring. It would almost be a relief for him to at least put a twist tie on my finger. I just feel awkward when people ask how he proposed but nothing is official. THey all make fun that since I'm a wedding planner that I went behind his back and did all the work. I know I shouldn't worry about other people and that's what I'd tell people in the same situation but it can get tedious after awhile. I'll carry a photo of our new house and call it my ring.

I am blissfully planning my destination wedding for February 2011. Without a proposal or ring for that matter. Please tell me I'm not the only one. History: We've known we were going to get married for a while and talked about the summer of 2011. I'm not getting any younger here! We got really excited about a destination wedding that it moved everything up several months. We wanted to give family notice so they could start to save money and after the millionth time told everyone 'no he did not propose yet but..' He's actually asked me about a dozen times but more or less 'will you marry me when I ask?' He says we're engaged but I feel ripped off, why?... no ring and no fabulous engagement story. Yeah yeah we just bought a house, but am I selfish? yup! can't argue it. We've decided to have a nice wedding band for the ceremony. But I think I'd like to at least have a fabulous engagement story, are you with me ladies? I was so looking forward to taking out a full page ad in the paper to announce my engagement (we weren't sure if it would ever happen for me). I could see the headline 'Wedding Planner Finds her Happily Ever After. (note: as a wedding planner I was called JLo a lot and asked to not steal the groom). Now it reads more like "Impatient Wedding Planner Couldn't Wait for a Ring' "A story about an aging bride waiting at the alter for her groom". Love him dearly, always will, ring or no ring.

Me to!! February 1, 2011. Resort booked! Save the dates went out last week. Buying lots for the OOT bags even though I have no idea how may people are coming so I hope I have enought. I'll go dress shopping 25 pounds from now. (gotta work on that). Waiting for Westjet to post prices at the end of April then I'll reserve seats and rooms. So excited! So nervous. Not sure how to get everyone to book on time. I have so many ideas!

I'm going to design post cards that everyone will have at their place setting. I'd like them to be mailed from Punta Cana so we get them some time after we return back home. Depending on the mail system there I may just have my cousin mail them all to me from Canada, a few each day. I'd love to receive them a bit after we return and remember how wonderful everything was.

Great names! Make sure you try them in various places. I voted for Sugar and Spice and Everything Iced. My business name was really long for a website and the shorter version was already taken. Also it's surprising how many people spell [business name removed by moderator] as [business name removed by moderator], seriously people! You also can't use punctuation in an email address or website so people were confused with [business email removed by moderator] Good luck with the business, it's great to find what you have a passion for and running your own business.

I started a wedding planning business in my home town of 100,000 over 5 years ago when people told me it wouldn't work. There had been people who tried in the past and failed at the business but vendors have told me that my professionalism, work style and dedication were different from the rest. My business has grown but not to the point of quitting my day job so teh combination can be rough. Now, I have had to turn away weddings because the day job and 10 weddings a years was too much. I hope with a few new projects that I can develop it further and eventually have just my business. I'm happy when I plan weddings so my fiance is willing to help when I decide to make the transition. I finally found what I should be doing with my life and that makes it worth it. Good luck, work hard, research and know you made a great decision.

Congratulations! I'm also getting married there in Feb, 2011. There are some great Majestic Colonial threads on this forum with loads of info. Just type the resort name in the search box and you will be reading posts for weeks. There is also a great majestic colonial facebook page for more support.
