ILA Brides, what do you have planned so far for your big day?
Barrierunner replied to Barrierunner's topic in Cuba Weddings
Truelove4life, that is awesome that we are getting married on the same day, congrats...time is ticking and we only have 6 months and I'm getting a little worried. Have you found a photographer yet? I still don't have one and the cost of it is a huge consideration. What colours have you chosen? I have chosen both blue and green turquoise and so far the resort does not have those colours to decorate the gazebo or chairs. RonNMel, are you making your own sashes? Any suggestions where to get inexpensive material to make them or get them? There does seemsto be a cost for everything. We decided to do the private dinner but are still undecided about the disco since it could get expensive depending on how many guests end up going and since there may be less then 30 of us, it could be kind of lame especially if the older guests don't dance. I didn't know the disco opened at 11...now I am not sure what to do as we have to be done dinner by 8 as we only get 1.5 hours. So from 8-11, there is a gap now, argh!!! RonNMel, I gave the option for my guests to chose between lobster and chicken. I plan to provide the exact numbers via email a few weeks prior to and I will also make sure I have those details with me the day we arrive. Chevy 14, what is the gala dinner? We weren't given that option at all. I still find it strange that we couldn't put a deposit down nor is there a rehearsal. Well I am sure everything will work out in the end and we will all have beautiful weddings! :-) -
Hi ILA brides, I thought this would be a great way to share ideas, concerns, suggestions etc for the big day. I have booked my ceremony for 4pm on July 7 and will serve champagne to to everyone once the ceremony is finished. I'm hoping to have a barefoot ceremony, although I haven't figured out the logistics (ie. wear to put all of our sandals etc). Our dinner is booked for 6:30pm at the Cuban restaurant and we will either be having lobster or chicken followed by wedding cake then speeches. We are stuck on what to do afterwards, do we book and pay for a private area for dancing and drinking or do we all hit the disco that is included with the hotel? This is a dilemma for me because we may only have about 25 guests (including the wedding party) as many of my friends and some family members cannot afford to come to our wedding. Any suggestions? What other things are you doing to make your day special? Cheers and Happy New Year!

Thanks Teebaga. We are still deciding on a travel agent, can I ask who you are using? I'm originally from the London area which isn't too far from Rodney. All the best on your wedding day! :-)

What's your menu for AHR?
Barrierunner replied to August2010Bride's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
We are also doing a bbq at our house in late August since our wedding is in early July. We will most likely do hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, steak, chicken, and shrimp. Since my hubby to be is from the East Coast, we may bring in some fresh lobster. We will probably have a wedding cake too and since we make our own wine, we will supply that! We wanted something very informal. I won't wear my wedding dress but I might get a white summer dress. -
You are definitely entitled to your own opinion and I accept that but our camera and a few of our friends and family member's camera's are far from being point and shoot camera's and of course I wouldn't recommend someone to take pics of a wedding with a crappy camera. Our own camera is a pretty pricey one and it takes amazing pictures, some of our holiday pics look professional. At my best friends wedding she had a professional photographer and a few friends taking pics. Some of her best pictures were from her friends and no one can tell the difference. At the end of the day, I personally don't need hundreds of pictures that are going to sit on a disc or in a photo album that is opened a few times of the year. I will be happy to get a few amazing shots of me and my husband to be and shots with family and the bridal party. We are more laid back and we want candid shots with our friends and family. If I can find a decent photographer that isn't too pricey I will definitely consider that option.

You can also use family members or friends. We have a really good camera and so does some of our friends. We will have them take some pictures if we decide to not bring our own photographer.

We used ewedding.com and paid for the year to get the extra options. Our website looks amazing and we use it as the main means of communication. We decided not to send out invitations, only STD's and will use our website for everything else. Some of our friends commented on how professional our site looks and can't believe we did it ourselves. It is easy to use!

We are not a traditional couple by any means BUT I want to be traditional in that I want to walk down that aisle and see the look on his face when he see's me dressed up like a princess, it is priceless. I think there is plenty of time after the ceremony to do pics and guests won't feel so bad waiting around, they can come along and watch and take a few themselves or go back to their room to freshen up.

We were in the same boat and were told we couldn't book flights for our July 2010 wedding because prices etc weren't available. But because I wanted to get things rolling, I contacted the Wedding Coordinator at the resort I was interested in and was able to book the date and time. Now that I have that, I have made my STD's magnets and have sent them out. We are using our website as the main means for communication. We just recently received some pricing back and they were too high. We were told that it is safe enough to book the flights a little later and closer to our wedding date. It is a little bit of a risk but we figure since we aren't getting married in peak season, we have room to do this. We probably won't book our flights until after spring break. Our wedding coordinator is fine with this also, she said as long as we allow at least 3 weeks if we have to cancel or change anything. :-)

Has anyone seen wedding pics from Iberostar Laguna Azul yet?
Barrierunner replied to Barrierunner's topic in Cuba Weddings
Hi, I am booked for July 7th at 4pm at ILA and I was heartbroken when I saw the pics that Yahimara sent. The wedding seemed so plain and boring. I really like the idea of getting married in a gazebo and hope that the gazebo will be built by then. Now I'm kind of wishing that I waited until I saw pics first before sending out STD's etc. Oh well, fingers crossed that the gazebo is ready for all of us spring and summer brides to be. Do any of you think it is strange that this resort isn't allowing a wedding rehearsal? All the other resorts I was planning to go with before did and Yahimara said that there is no rehearsal at all. -
I definitely want a relaxed, informal wedding but I thought it would be nice to have someone in control while we are having pics taken to round everyone up at the restaurant and to announce our entrance as the married couple. Other than that, I want speeches to be very informal as well. Just not sure what other things I should consider if I do decide to have a MC.

Just curious if anyone is planning to have a Master of Ceremonies for their destination wedding? If you are, what roles will you have for him or her? Thanks!
