    Welcome and congrats!
  2. I wanted to have a rehearsal and dinner but apparently that isn't an option. I don't know how they expect the ceremony to go smoothly if we can't even have a rehearsal. I guess for the dinner the best option is to pick a time and go to the buffet and do it there. It is so frustrating at times. Are you going to give gifts out to the wedding party in Cuba or will you do it back home?
  3. Great questions Tilly in the Sun, I actually just emailed Yahimara yesterday to ask for the seating set up since my parents have been asking. I would love to have a head table with the bridal group. From what I was told by Yahimara a month ago, they still didn't have many options for chair sashes. So I am bringing my own and I told her I would leave them for her to use again. There is a great US site that sells them cheap, wedding linens direct home page. I'm finding that lately it has taken Yahimara weeks to get back to me for simple questions. So I think this forum topic will be very beneficial to most of us to get the answers we are looking for. Happy planning everyone!
  4. Khanhandphil congrats on your recent wedding. I have one question, did you have to pay anything to have your photographer there with you? We have seen on other forums that some photographers have to pay 200CUC just to be there, even though they are staying at the hotel etc. Thanks!
  5. Hi, I finally heard back and the dinner is free at 8:30. We only have to pay 18CUC/person for the lobster. Thank goodness that is finally clear! ;-) How is everyone else doing with their planning?
  6. Ok so I emailed Yahimara and questioned her about the private dinner at 8:30 since her email yesterday stated that there was a charge but one of her previous emails she sent when I first contacted her stated that it was free. She is now saying that it is free depending on how many guests, so now I'm waiting to confirm with her what is meant by that. Nothing seems to be clear and if I didn't bring up the previous email, she wouldn't have said anything. Check and re-check all of your email correspondence, pricing seems to change depending on the day. Another thing that bothers me is that when I confirmed with her that the wedding package is 700CUC, she responded that the prices will be going up and she doesn't have them right now but it is no longer 700 CUC and I should expect to pay more. I emailed her back and stated that I booked my ceremony before this price increase so I shouldn't have to pay more and she then said that it was ok and I would get it for 700CUC. Ladies make sure you follow up with her, like I said before you don't want to get to Cuba and be presented with a bill that has all these extra charges!
  7. Maybe it is 15CUC/person and if you want lobster it is an additional 18CUC/person on top of the 15CUC if you dine at 6:30. And If you dine at 8:30 it is only 15CUC for those eating off the proposed menu, and only 18CUC for lobster...could that be right? I'm confused! Does anyone have the clear answers to this? I've emailed Yahimara so many times with this, I think we are confusing each other. Also Yahimara told me that the cake cannot be served after the ceremony. There is a list of hor dourves to choose from and it is 10CUC/person if you want to serve something with the champagne.
  8. Tilly in the sun, my fiance and I have been discussing the same thing. We feel that a 6:30 dinner might be too rushed after the 4pm ceremony, we want to leave enough time for photos. And you are right, a later dinner may force some to stay up and hit the disco...we were worried that people would bail after dinner if we had to wait three hours to go to the disco. My fiance also said that we could have our first dance to the band right after the ceremony while people are toasting champagne and having cake! I've emailed Yahimara to find out if we have to pay for the dinner at 8:30. I was thinking that there shouldn't be the charge of the 15CUC/person but we would still have to pay the 18CUC/person for the lobster, which is fine by me. Just curious if everyone is doing OOT bags and if so, when will you hand them out? Besides getting gifts for the wedding party, are you getting gifts for the parents? When will you give out the wedding party gifts? Cheers everyone!
  9. Not only have I always dreamed of getting married on a beach, but for me it is about the people, after visiting twice before and being all over the world, Cuba is amazing and full of beautiful people! The price can't be beat either!

    Welcome and congrats!
  11. Wow so much confusion. We all have to make sure that we request an invoice from Yahimara that shows all the pricing (and bring all printouts of emails). I don't want to get to Cuba and be told that I have to pay more than expected!!! From what I understood (and correct me if I am wrong) is that for the private dinner, it is 15CUC per person no matter what from 6:30-8. If you want lobster for the guests, it is an additional 18CUC per person, so for those guests requesting lobster, you will be paying 33CUC per person. Is this right? After much discussion with my fiance we decided to not book the private disco. He wasn't too happy (and neither was I) that we had to pay for drinks when they are free at the resort and for 2 hours for 30 people, it just doesn't make sense. So what we have decided to do is after our dinner and speeches are done at 8, we will announce that we will be hanging out at one of the bars on the resort (usually they are big enough to accomodate quite a few people to sit around and hopefully we can figure which one ahead of time) and we will wait for the disco at 11. This gives people time to go back to their rooms and freshen up etc. We aren't being that traditional in the sense that we have to have a first dance etc etc. We rather spend our time with our guests and we figure by hanging out at a bar or by the beach, it would add to the atmosphere. This kinda screws up any preplanning or preparing an itinerary for our guests. Does anyone know anybody who has been to this resort that can give a description of the bars etc? Does anyone know how big the junior suite rooms are? Depending on how many people you have going down, you could have a little after party in the room before the disco starts. I asked Yahimara if it was possible to book the pool area or somewhere on the beach after dinner and she said she won't know until May...fingers crossed but I am sure they will be nickel and dimeing us for that too!
