About Barrierunner

  1. Hi I got married there in July and there are regular plug ins, you do not need a converter.
  2. We got married on July 7, 2010 in Varadero Cuba. 30 of our friends and family joined us. Because we have family and friends spread all over the place we decided to do an open house which we are having in mid-September. So far we have about 60ish guests coming to that. The main issue is my siblings. I have three brothers and none of them could make it to my wedding because of kids, money etc. They are quite upset that we had our wedding in Cuba and they are more upset that we are having our open house in my home town (where I have been living for the last 5 years). They live 3 hours away
  3. Hi, my hubby and I got legally married in Canada before going to our official wedding in Cuba. We had a symbolic ceremony. Only a few of our friends and our parents were aware that we were doing this. We did vows and a sand ceremony, and we made and brought a document that looked like our marriage certificate for signing. No one had a clue that it was symbolic and no one questioned if it was legal. It was a beautiful ceremony and all of our guests commented on how romantic and quick it was.
  4. Be patient as she is really really busy and she doesn't get the chance to check her email as often. You will hear back as she always responds, it may take her a week or two but she will respond to you. ILA is fabulous!
  5. Iberostar Laguna Azul is fabulous and it is kid friendly!!! It didn't break the bank and our wedding was amazing, I wouldn't change a thing! There were 32 of us, this included a 2, 3, 6, 14, 15, 16 year olds, and there was plenty to do!
  6. Hi, we had a 2, 3, and 6 year olds with us for the Havana trip and it was fine. For the Catamaran only the 3 and 6 year old came with us and they had a blast!
  7. Hi thank you for the kind comments. I do not have a price list for the hairdresser/spa. My updo was 50CUC and my bridesmaid's were 25CUC each.
  8. Hi everyone, after 9 months of planning our destination wedding we got married on July 7 in Cuba. 26 of us departed on July 2nd with Sunwing and I must say that Sunwing is outstanding compared to Air Canada, West Jet and most US airlines. I have travelled the world and the service with Sunwing is topnotch! I will definitely be booking our honeymoon with them! We arrived at the airport and the bus to the airport was only a 15 minute wait. We were the second or third stop and arrived by 10pm at the Iberostar Laguna Azul. Upon arriving we couldn't believe how beautiful our hotel was,

  10. I will write all about it soon and how fabulous it was, but if anyone has questions in the meantime, I would be more than happy to answer them! Cheers!
  11. Does anyone know how much it cost at the hairdresser per person? I think I am going to let the hairdresser do my wedding hairdo as I still can't decide on the style and due to the humidity, I think I won't be able to leave it down with curls. Thanks!
  12. Congrats Tilly in the Sun, wonderful review. Can I ask if you don't mind who all are we supposed to tip and how much? I don't want to miss anyone.
  13. I'm leaving for Varadero Cuba in 6 weeks and we will have about 30 guests joining us. Do I bring the OOT bags to Cuba with me and assemble and hand them out there or is it better to hand them out before we leave? I don't want to take up luggage room since I have other things to bring. Any advice from those who have already been married? Do's and don'ts? Thanks!
  14. Hi ladies, I'm getting married at ILA on July 7. Only 2 months away and I have a few unanswered questions. I have sent an email to Yahimara, but it has been over 3 weeks and I still haven't heard from her. I know she is very busy. My questions are 1. Was there somewhere to bring your wedding dress to get pressed? 2. If you brought your own photographer, was there somewhere for them to lock up their expensive camera equipment? 3. What is the currency? I have read mixed reviews and am still confused. Did you pay for the wedding in cash, credit? Thanks so much and congratulation
