  1. Hey Maigan, I havent been there, but i have been told that the parrot bar is the cloest and is about a 2 min walk from teh lobby bar. The Wetbar is about a 5-7 min walk. Also the parrot bar is good for under 40 guests, and the wetbar for over 40 guests. Hope this helps! maybe some who has been there can answer. It got this info off the FB group. Which location is the closest to a resort bar that is open late? How far of a walk is it roughly? Thanks, Maigan

That's exciting. I can't wait to read your review. We have to still pay for the wedding, so it makes more sense to us to keep everything in one spot. i hope everything goes well. Mayte has been amazing so far with me as well. She must be so busy! Congrats again.
  3. It's gorgeous and not too much at all! My gown is silk too and it is soooo light!! Careful though, silk shrinks if its wet and any water drop will ruin it! Scary, but i still love mine too! get it if you love it!
  4. You could try Michael's. Some of the links above are great, but only ship within the USA. Bummer. I found some at michael's on sale the other day!
  5. Right now we have a date set at the Majestic Colonial, where we are staying. I have been talking with the WC at the JellyFish and she is amazing! We may have less than 20 people and I think it will be much more intimate there, not to mention I LOVE the look of it. It just *feels* more like what I wanted too. We haven't deposited yet, but are 95% that we are moving our wedding there. I have seen 2 other posts about brides that have been married there, and checked out Debbie's etc. Just curious if anyone has heard of anything, or if anyone else is planning their wedding there too. We plan to do the ceremony and reception there. Would love to hear feedback! Thanks!
  6. A good homeopathic remedy is called Muco Coccinum by Genestra. It is natural and homeopathic remedies generally cannot be overdosed and are safe for most people. Read the label to be safe. This remedy acts similar to a vaccine but *proven* long term to have no side effects. Muco Coccinum Homeopathic by Genestra High doses of Vitamin C is also a natural antiviral and will help prevent the flu or colds. 1000 mg 2x a day is a good amount during the winter periods (or what your bowels can tolerate). Also, Oil of Oregano under your tongue or mixed with juice is an amazing natural antibacterial/viral/fungal.
  7. We have not 100% decided. If we do it will just be a an informal gathering in our backyard, bbq style. I personally am going away so i dont have to deal with the formalities of a wedding and having to invite people that i dont think *need* to be at my wedding. That's just my inner bitch coming out though ;-) (She's been coming out alot lately!! HAHA). Pretty much everyone I would want at my wedding is coming, except 4 people or so. So really, it's not a big deal. I dont think serving people a meal equates with them feeling like they were involved in the day. A video showing would be nice, but still, not the same. To me, weddings are not about making everyone else happy, they are about the couple. I think you should be able to do what you want, not what is "supposed" to happen. I think it's totally dependent on your personality, and how many people that you actually want at the wedding can make it down to celebrate with you. I'm just not into the extra fuss, organizing, and money that comes with one!!
  8. oh, Tara, that sucks! I'm so sorry. Definately check out pastor york. I advised maritee of that and she didnt say he was not allowed, so check him for sure. Another suggestion since you ceremony is symbolic is to see if they will allow one of your friends or family members to officiate. I know of a bride that did that before...unless that falls under the new rules. I had NO idea of the 20 person limit, thank you for posting this. We were planning on over 20 but its possible it may be less. That is good to know. I am 90% sure that I am actually moving my ceremony and reception to the Jellyfish Restaurant off site. The wedding co ordinator is amazing and they can make your wedding really special. Check out their website and see if it's something you're into. Then you can use all your special touches and say your own vows. I hope everything works out for you...hugs.

Thanks for sharing! It's exactly what i've been looking for.
  10. Good luck! I look forward to a review when you get back ;-) I love reviews! hope everything goes just as you dreamed.

If so, I'd just print the new date, and cut it out as small as you can and glue it on over the old date. (Even better if it's on white and you can just use a regular white label) That way you don't have to explain it, etc. Good luck! , That's a great idea! however, i really don't want to ask her to do anything else. This has dragged on FOREVER and i don't want to go back and ask her to deliver more cardstock and reprint it all over again. The invite is boarding pass style with a perforated end to tear off and return. The rsvp date is already small so it sounds like it would be really easy, but not sure i want to go there with her. Maybe i will try a white sticker label and just get the font she used....hmmmm Quote: Originally Posted by echo2_62 On the other hand if matching is too tricky, you could deliberately draw attention to it. Or make small little reminder magnets or stickers to go on the calendar and cover up your old date with the adhesive to hold that on. i think you definitely have options to change it and just have to figure out what works best based on what your invites look like. Good luck!! This is also a great idea. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm just not graphically knowledgeable so this all sounds like it's so complicated!! haha Thanks for the suggestions!! I will get the invites hopefully in the next few days and then see what might work best given the size.
  12. So, we are supposed to be getting our invites hopefully be the end of this week. Our friend is doing them and it's literally taken almost 2 months to get them designed because this isn't her full time job. Anyway, so we have had our website up and people are aware of it since early Sept, and we are leaving April 30th. I was feeling selfish and wanted everyone to reply by end of december because i figured i would need at least a month to call everyone back and figure out what they are *really* doing since apparently people don't actually use the rsvp! Anyway, so since the invites have taken forever, and December 31t was a stupid date to put on them, I want to include a little insert (bus. card size) saying the the invite has been extended to January 31t. It's too late since it's gone to printers, but we haven't mailed so have this option. 1. Do you think jan 31st is reasonable for april 30th departure? Seeing as there are oot bag, and seating, and all that stuff to organize. 2. Is this tacky? 3. Can you think of a cute little blurb/quote/poem to put on the card? something rhymy perhaps?? I'm not super creative. Thanks!!
  13. I am interested for the future, just not yet! I was thinking next Feb/March. If there is any interest for then, i'm totally in!
  14. I would suggest if your dress is ivory that he wear an ivory shirt as well. If he wears white your dress might just look dirty...ykwim? That's something that my FI didnt want to do. My dress is "natural" which is ivory like. We are doing a grey pants and jacket (for him) with light pink shirt and fuscia/grey tie..since our colours are pink.
  15. That is really annoying! I hate when companies have fine print and they expect you to read every bitty detail. When you select your size, the system should not allow it. OR if it does, they should at least contact you prior to see what you want to do about it!! I have no solution, but hope it works out for you. They're still nice, but I know you want what you ordered!
  16. One other girl did waterproof stickers with the names of the guests. I thought that was a great idea instead of a logo. Then they will use the mug again for sure, and the sticker can be removed by them, but also wont come off when it gets wet. You can probably get sticker paper for an office supply store and do them on your computer. Another good idea with the mugs is to put dishsoap in a little tube so they can wash them properly...I hadn't even thought of that until it was suggested!
  17. Here is a link to sunset wedding poems/quotes :SUNSET POEMS Might be too cheesy for you, not sure. There are lots of great ideas on invites online if you google wedding invitations. It will give you ideas on cardstock, style and size, and colours. Usually the invitations should be the same colours as what you have chosen for your wedding colours too....if you've figured that out :-) We didnt' do formal save the dates. Just sent out an Evite (likely tacky) with a link to our website which has all the info to get people started. That way we didn't feel as rushed to get invites out so quickly in case the resort/airfare ran out of space. Good luck! Your FI is very brave...i dont know if i could let that go my control !

I honestly wouldnt worry! I am able to get a coach bus to pick up all of my guests at the hotel and transport them to the restaurant and back for $5usd a person! There is no worry of taxi or any danger. I would honestly be more worried about food on the resorts. Buffets sit forever and they cook in such large quantities. At restaurants everything is made for you, so if fresher and tastier. If it's you style i would check out Debbies Dominican and Trip advisor. There are lots of reviews on it and they are 99% all positive! Best meal of the week for most people!! I havent been to DR, but i've been to Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc. Even in Jamaica and Mex. where they say to not venture too far off, i was fine. Like anything, just travel in groups and avoid any conflict and you'll be fine. Happy planning!

It is generally thought to be hereditary, or due to environmental reasons. Neither of us have it in our family. I met my father late in life (single mom) and he had 2 other children after me who had club foot (where babies feet turn inwards and require surgery for correction). I had hip dysplasia which means i had a cast for the first 3 months of my life. So, i figure he's defective..haha. Seriously though, i was so careful with everything and am pretty healthy. Ate organic, worked out, drank water, don't smoke, etc etc. It was pretty shocking. The facial development occurs in the first 6-10 wks of gestation. It happens when the 2 ridges above your lip are forming and something occurs that prevents this from fully forming correctly to the nose. Re: ultrasounds. It should have picked it up but they are so quick around the head that unless there is cause they generally focus on the organ and limb development. next baby i will go to another hospital for full craniofacial exam of the fetus to know what to expect. You really can do only what you can do make yourself healthy. I didn't know i was preggers until about 7 wks and had some drinks, but seriously meth addicts have healthy babies....how can a few drinks cause this? you really never know.
  20. There are way too many responses for me to comment on all of them, but seriously, you are all amazing!! Thank you so much for your opinions and compliments! I have lots of time to decide on what to do with the flower and neckline so that's not pressing, i suppose. I do feel MUCH better about the dress though, so THANK YOU for that. It's so easy to second guess yourself when there are so many beautiful dresses to choose from. A little feedback goes a long way!, or a lot in this case :-)
  21. Great thread idea! I'm sure there has to be others out there like us :-) Well, I have been with my FI for almost 7 years..saying that sounds crazy. I was never one to want children or get married for that matter. I never had some huge dream since i was a little girl to have a huge wedding, and I was probably the last one anyone would expect to have children. I like kids and all, but as an only child I just didnt really know what to do with them ;-) I did figure that at sometime we would have children, but didn't think too much about it. Anyway, so my friend got pregnant and my FI (bf at time)and I were discussing when we might have babies. Marriage before wasn't super important to us. He said oh, maybe in a year or so we start trying (this was around Jan of 0. Well, what do you know, in March i find out i'm pregnant! I was pretty freaked out, and just like SuzyQ, my FI (bf at time) handled it much better than me. Babies mean growing up, and I just didnt know I was there yet...mind you i was 31...really, how much more ready do i need to be??! Next thing you know, I'm engaged and we're having a baby. So, fastforward through a pretty good pregnancy and last November I had a little baby girl (which i was *sure* was going to be a boy), and we named her MacKenzie (kenzie). It was a pretty crazy and stressful first few months getting adapted, but we got through it. Nobody tells you about the hard stuff, just how great it's all going to be....liars. JJ, we love her to death :-) We had 3 ultrasounds during the preg. and everything was "fine". However, when she came out she had a cleft lip which was pretty shocking since I wasn't expecting anything to be wrong, and she wasn't my "perfect" baby. Looking back, i know now that it is not a big deal and we could have been given a much harder scenario to deal with. She was perfectly healthy and that's really all you can ask for. At 5 months (march 09) she had her surgery to get it repaired and all that's left is a small scar from her lip to her nose. it's supposed to fade as she gets older, which i hope does happen for her. She is our gorgeous little bundle of energy that provides endless entertainment! Finally about 3 months ago we decided we should do something about this engagement thing and we decided on a DW and started the planning! She is almost 1 now and i go back to work in 3 weeks...so sad (yayy mat leave!). I dont know how i'm going to balance my new internet addiction and work ...haha. It's been great having so much time to preplan, but most of the work wont' be done until after rsvp's anyway I guess. This forum is great though, i'm so happy i found it!! Congrats to all you mommies!!
  22. So, i guess i overpay and should check elsewhere! I think i will check PC out. I feel like i should have it, but i dont want to pay so much...sounds like its overpriced. My dog is crazy and runs free all the time. I just know if i cancelled it that she would decide to tear a cruciate or something!
  23. The Majestic resorts offer them too. PPP is $65 usd plus alcohol. I might be switching to having my ceremony and reception at the Jelly Fish restaurant in punta cana. It is gorgeous and then you can stay wherever you want!! it is right next to the Melia Caribe Tropical. I've been talking to the wedding co ordinator who is amazing! They have meal plans from 35 -65 usd a person, plus alcohol. And, they dont charge extra for beach setup...just a tent for $125 i think. Jellyfish Restaurant | Bavaro, Punta Cana | Restaurant, Bar, Lounge, Weddings, Events I would def. check it out!
