Hi, Sarah. Welcome to the forum. You'll find tons of info here. I just got married in Cabo and just loved it, but I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with Southern Cal or the Carribean either. Good luck making your decision. Happy New Year!!
  2. Everything looks beautiful and your flowers are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. I would love to see more wedding pics. Happy New Year!!
  3. Hope your wedding was a success and you're having a lot of fun, Nadine.
  4. Beall's is a great store. They used to be all over Texas but hard to come by now. Congratulations on your good find.
  5. Oh, I forgot - you can look on their website and see pictures of different weddings that were there.
  6. My daughter got married at LeKliff a couple of years ago and it was absolutely a beautiful setting, however, we didn't feel that the food was all that good. For us, though, we didn't care as much about the food as we did the beautiful setting. She dealt with Carlos, as well. We all stayed at Dreams. The only complaint we had with Dreams is that not all of the bars stayed open, especially at night. Hope this helps some.
  7. What a cute/sweet story - and, especially that your daughter was in on it. Congratulations!!
  8. Thank you, ladies, for all kind words about my wedding - and my granddaughter. I'm with her now and she's definitely doing well and in her terribly two's LOL. Autumn, have you posted any pics of your wedding? I haven't found any yet.
  9. The end results - bag and contents. Our guests really seemed to appreciate the bags, especially the towels. I never saw anyone using their mugs, however, we were not at an all-inclusive resort. Not so sure anyone even opened their survival kit, but they did appreciate the time and effort I put into it. It took 2 large suit cases to carry it all in and we had absolutely no trouble at all going through customs. I had all of the receipts and I was prepared, but they never even opened the bags. I can't thank you ladies enough for giving me so many wonderful ideas and showing me how to make all the cute labels. I have been hooked on this forum ever since I stumbled across it and I will definitely pass on the information to anyone that is having a destination wedding. It has been extremely helpful and a lot of fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! p.s. It looks like my pictures are HUGE. If they look that way to you, I'm so sorry. Don't know what I did wrong.
  10. I also copied the room key holder for other brides, which I have to say, was a big hit and actually used. The first aid kit/survival kit was also copied. I included aloe vera, sun screen, hand sanitizer, shout wipes, crystal lite, chapstick and the assorted meds. Sand dollar Christmas ornaments from eBay. I thought they were so cute. Little margarita candles from Bed Bath & Beyond. I got them at the end of the summer of $4.00 a box, with 4 in a box. I put one in each bag. The only thing, though, is they smelled really bad as they were citronella (outside) candles to keep the mosquitas away. I put them in a zip lock baggie and wrapped and wrapped them up in bubble wrap and bags, but you could still smell them - and it wasn't very pleasant. LOL. My travel mugs came from discountmugs.com. I only ordered 12 and got different colors. I couldn't justify the imprint charge, so I bought clear glossy sticker paper and made my own labels. However, with the shape of the mugs, the labels didn't look very good, so I just put them on the box instead. The label for the box. I found a lot of useful/helpful information regarding Cabo that I printed out and added to the bags. I did this at the last minute and wish I had found it earlier. It would have been very helpful to our guests prior to their travel date. It came from cabovillas.com
  11. I have returned from my wedding and am finally getting around to posting pictures of my OOT bags. (my wedding review can be found under the Cabo forum). I, first, have to thank all of you ladies for giving me such good ideas and especially how to make some of the items/labels in my bags. I couldn't have done it without you. My bags were beach bags that I bought at Walmart at the end of the summer for just $5.00 and, I bought different colors. The beach towels for the ladies came from Bed Bath & Beyond and I got different colors, as well. I personalized them by having our location and wedding date embroidered on them. The guys got towels from their favorite sports teams. I made welcome/thank you post cards from Vista Print and tied them onto the bags. Front Back Pashminas - I ordered from a vendor on this Forum. Tags for the pashminas Personalized items free from Vista Print - also got baseball caps, small tote bags, calendars and mouse pads. Books and playing cards. I also had soduko and crossword puzzles. I got them at Michaels, Half Price Books, eBay and Amazon.com. I copied the playing card labels from some of the other brides here. Thank you ladies very much!!
  12. My wedding was one week ago today at the Hilton Los Cabos and couldn't have been more perfect, as far as the Hilton was concerned. My daughter, who was to be my MOH, was unable to attend. Her 2 year old was admitted into the hospital with pheumonia, after I had already arrived in Cabo. It was a scarey, stressful time for all of us, however, my granddaughter is home and well now. My sister graciously stood up for me and everything went well and was just wonderful. My other daughter was not able to attend either due to pregnancy, but as a surprise, both of my daughters sent some engraved Waterford toasting flutes, which were absolutely beautiful. They are shown in the pictures that are attached. Tathiana was my WC at the Hilton and did a great job. She was very responsive beforehand via emails. I had not met her before we arrived for the wedding. She arranged the flowers from Mazarte Flowers and they were a very close match to the picture I had sent for my bouquet. They were beautiful and just what I wanted. After the wedding, we had a dinner at Fenecia, the Hilton's fine dining restaurant. It was great. Alonso Aguirre was my solo guitarist. I had requested him because I had heard him play at the Hilton several times before when I was there on vacation. In fact, he played every morning at breakfast while we were there for the wedding. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a solo guitarist - and he played the songs that my husband had requested. Rev. Marco Arechiga was our minister and I could not have been more pleased. I had requested him because of other reviews I had read on this Forum and was so pleased that he was able to be there. He was so true and down to earth. He just seemed so sincere that I felt like I had known him for years. Dino Gomez was our photographer and I was very pleased with our pictures. Attached are just a few that I put on photobucket for you to see, if interested. Wedding December 19 2009 Hilton Los Cabos pictures by pattiwood5 - Photobucket Jennifer Hatton made my wedding cake. Not only was it delicious but looked beautiful and was just want I wanted. Deena from Sweet Dreams made a birthday cake for my husband and delivered it to Edith's, where we had our welcome dinner. She did a great job and the cake looked just like the picture that I had sent to her. She was wonderful to work with, in fact, after she heard how much Edith's was charging for the cutting fee, she dropped her delivery charge. Edith's was definitely one of the best meals we had. I just can't say enough about how wonderful and fun it was. We did a snorkeling trip with Sunrider Adventures. I had been already a couple of times and really had fun. I emailed the owner, Mario, and negotiated a little better rate than what he had offered me. Once again, it was another fun time - and as a bonus, we all got to see whales. We had dinner at La Panga in San Jose Del Cabo and I have to say, that it was the worst meal that we had during our stay. We ate at Mi Casa in Cabo twice during our stay and it was wonderful each time. Regarding airport transfers for my guests, I ended up using a company called Lifestyles. I contacted about 5 different companies and they offered me the best rate after a little negotiating. They were very professional and polite and there were absolutely no complaints. Some of the other companies wanted a wire transfer for payment beforehand, however, Lifestyle accepted credit cards for payment beforehand, which we were more comfortable with. I gave OOT bags to our guests (one per room) and everyone went on and on about how much they liked them and the contents. I got the bags on sale at Walmart at the end of the summer for $5.00. They were nice sized beach bags and I got different colors. I got star fish beach towels from Bed Bath and Beyond for the ladies for $7.99 and had Cabo San Lucas, Mexico embroidered on them, with our wedding date on them, as well. I got the guys their favorite sports team towels, which was a big hit. They all got travel mugs, along with the First Aid Kit that I copied from other brides on this Forum. The ladies received pashminas that I bought from a vendor on this Forum. I also added some freebies that I got from Vista Print, such as baseball caps, magnets, sticky notes, calendars, mouse pads, pens, etc. I don't have pics of the bags and contents now, but hopefully will a little later. The end results were all positive. I would highly recommend all of the vendors that I used. Last but not least, I would like to thank all of you ladies for helping me plan my dream wedding. It wouldn't have been so perfect if I had not have found this Forum. Thank you all so very, very much!!
  13. Congratulations, Mike, and welcome to the Forum. This was a great help to me when planning my wedding in Cabo last week. I'm originally from Houston. Do you have a brother named Matt?
  14. I know there is a thread already for Cabo and San Jose restaurants, however, it hasn't been updated in a while. I would welcome any recommendations in both towns, if you have any to share (and even ones to stay away from). We're having our Welcome dinner at Edith's and plan to go to Mi Casa another time. Let me hear from you, please!! Thank you.
  15. Congratulations, Autumn. So glad it was wonderful for you. Can't wait to hear all about it and see your pics. Hey, how was the weather down there, especially in the evening - and in the water? Did anyone go snorkeling? We're leaving for Cabo tomorrow and was wondering about taking the group on a snorkeling trip but was concerned about the water temp.
  16. Congratulations to everyone who has already had their wedding - and good luck to those who are leaving soon. I'm leaving Wednesday and can hardly wait. Better get back to my packing.
  17. There are only 13 of us and I asked my resort to give us one large round table. I think that is going to work really well for us.
  18. Howdy, from another Texas bride. Congratulations and welcome to the Forum. You'll find tons of helpful information here and hopefully, will help you make your decision. Good luck and happy planning.
  19. Funny story. Something you'll definitely remember for years to come. Congratulations!!
  20. How about tequila, kahlua or some kind of liquor? How many do you need to buy for?
  21. I'm having a 2 - tier cake. The bottom tier will be a vanilla cake with a white chocolate filling with strawberries added. The top layer is going to be chocolate with a chocolate ganache filling infused with kahlua. Hope this helps.
  22. We leave just one week from today. Can't wait. We're getting married at the Hilton.
  23. Congratulations. So glad everything went well for you. Can't wait either to read your review and see your pictures.
