  2. That is very true. I don't have a problem with "island time" so much (when I'm in Jamaica, I tend to be on "island time" myself, lol)- just read some troubling reviews is all- things not set up according to requests, lots of missing items that brides brought down, etc. I just decided to skip it all to calm my nerves. But I'm sure in the end everyone will have a wonderful wedding experience no matter where they decide to host it
  3. Congrats! Everything looks great. I get sooo excited when I see a new planning thread, so thanks for sharing!!
  4. Okay, here's the link to one of the threads where someone contacted Appleton Estates directly http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-favors-44620/ And from a post from michelle6114: "Don't know if this helps any, but maybe for the AHR favors? In the Montego Bay airport by the American Airlines gates, there are 2 liquor stores with insanely cheap prices. We grabbed half a dozen bottles of various jamaican alcohol to give as christmas gifts. I got a bottle of appleton rum there for $3.00. The more deluxe version was 50 cents more. It was a good sized smaller bottle, defitely bigger than shot sized. They even packed them in carboard boxes for the plane. Nobody at customs checked anything on the way home. My husband was pissed that he paid triple the prices at the resort gift shops."
  5. I don't think they had any of the mini bottles of rum, but I do remember someone listing a location by the airport that had them for a good price. I'll try to find it for you. Also, there's a small grocery store a couple of doors down from Alice's Restaurant (which is across the street from Tensing Pen) and they had some local snacks in there
  6. Thanks for the detailed planning thread! Love the lounge area, that's what I'm going for at my resort too.
  7. I've been to the Hi-Lo as they seem to have the best exchange rates in Negril. It's more like a neighborhood grocery store, so I don't think you'll find too much to use as favors. We usually stock up on liquor when we go there since the prices are pretty good. I've heard of Megamart, and they probably have more of what you're looking for in terms of favors. A good place to pose this question would be on Negril.com in the Negril section as there's quite a few boardies that are very familiar with the stores.
  8. Oh wow- how did I not see this thread? I'm getting married at Rockhouse in Negril, Jamaica April 30, 2011! Supposed to be working on Save the Dates this weekend...
  9. Thanks for the reassurance! I ended up going with Rockhouse Hotel though. Please post pics of your wedding after- I would love to see them!
  10. Yes, she is sweet & we did cry... I don't know why it hit me just then that I was actually getting married, lol!
  11. Thanks guys! And thanks Cindy for noticing... I seem to have been stalled for about a week, so I need to kick it into high gear!!
  12. I went with my cousin to look at bridesmaid dresses and she made me try on some gowns. We both fell in love with this dress and because I told her I had my heart set on a different gown for the wedding, I could use this as my TTD dress. However, though it was 90% off (yes, I know!) it was still $200 more than I wanted to spend on a TTD dress. So, when it was clear we couldn't get them to budge on the price since it was originally super expensive, I declined to buy it So after my cousin tried on the bm dresses that I selected, we began to leave and she brings me this gorgeous dress in a dress bag and tells me it's my wedding gift! So super sweet my cousin is!
  13. Oh wow, Paris! Congrats & happy planning!
  14. I booked Paula & Damian of Sungold. I still haven't chosen the package yet, but the one that I'm looking at is nearly $4K and includes 2 photogs, 8 hrs, Copyright free cd, and dvd show... but no albums so we will have to talk about that, lol.
  15. Oh so nice to hear! Glad everything turned out well... I think Selassie is getting married there and using Ari's services as well!

I only had to pay $.50 extra per bag(so $12 total) for the palm tree embroidered too. If you want only text it is free! I am now wondering if I should get these for the women too! Ohhh those are sooo nice! Excellent bargain!

  18. How do you find out about these things? I am sooo disappointed that it was only a couple of weeks ago and I'm like 10 minutes from Chicago I don't know any other destination brides (besides the one that I met at Borders by the bridal mags, lol), and it just would've been nice...
