  1. Funny- my FI tried the suit on again the other day in a sunny room and we thought the same thing about it looking better in natural light. Still haven't decided if we will go with the suit from Studio Suits or buy a nice linen Calvin Klein suit we saw at Mens Wearhouse. 2. I agree and definitely wish we would have ordered the swatches beforehand! Quote: Originally Posted by LadyTrunck I have to chime in a little bit- my swatches are gone, but FI felt the same way about the 99 linen, so it is probably a good idea to get swatches before you buy just in case.
  3. I have several pairs of linen pants and have seen linen suits in the store and I just didn't care for the linen pattern that the $99 suit had- just too pronounced and looked almost retro to me. After looking more carefully at the swatch pictures posted earlier in the thread, the more expensive linen that studio suits offers probably would have made us much happier and are more similar to the pants I have. The suit wasn't put together cheaply in my opinion, I just don't like the look of the pattern on the jacket. If he were only wearing the pants it would be fine, but with the jacket on it's way more noticeable.
  4. Just wanted to post some pics of FI in the $99 suit. I have to say we are a little disappointed with the fabric (the linen pattern stood out too much- especially on the jacket- for our taste- I am thinking we should have gone for the more expensive linen because we agree the suit looks a little cheap) and don't think he will end up wearing this to the wedding. It looks good from afar, but just not great close up. The fit was perfect though. Close up of the fabric
  5. I am having my wedding at the Palace and booked the photographer at the Beach. I told Claudia and she said it would be fine. 6. Thanks- I had read that but was wondering if anyone else had used them. Quote: Originally Posted by FutureMrsG sfrench0621- When I posted this question breens provided a very useful review in the first paragraph above.
  7. Has anyone else used the resort DJ? I am definitely doing the mariachi for 45 mins and am thinking of booking the DJ for the rest of the reception to keep things running smoothly. 8. Hi! I'm from Pittsburgh and am getting married in Riviera Maya in May at the Barcelo Maya Palace. I found rates to be very reasonable when we booked in November- about $800 each including flight, hotel (all-inclusive) and taxes based on double occupany. Only thing not included was airport transfers. Prices have gone up since then. Good luck!
  9. So excited FI's suit is arriving tomorrow- took about 3.5 weeks. I won't see him until later in the week so I'll be sure to post pictures once I see it!
  10. My Michaels was out when I went last night- so sorry! Good luck!
  11. Our Michaels had about 20 left last week on sale for $.50 each- I can check to see if they're still available if you'd like... how many would you need and do they all have to be blue? 12. Wow Cara that's horrible- so do you have a different date now or still May 14? But this past week they told us they don't have rooms with the Barcelo because they've decided not to renew their contract with the Barcelo. Just like FutureMrsG said, the prices (and usually anything) is subject to change until full payment is made. I know this probably doesn't happen too often, but it was a terrible situation to be in. We had to change our wedding date and everything! You can read my review of Signature Vacations under "Bride Referrals" where it gives a more detailed explanation fo what happened. Just be careful when booking so early. We wish we waited until the our operators had their flight details, and packages available otherwise they're just making a guess on what it could cost you, and when you'll fly, but once they get their packages for that month your wedding is in, it could COMPLETELY change. Cara
  13. I was looking on the Barcelo Maya's website today and noticed they added a section on weddings there that they didn't have when I first started looking- it actually had answers to a lot of common questions, package prices, etc. May be helpful for some of you: Barceló Hotels & Resorts - Our destinations - Mexico - Barceló Maya Beach Resort
  14. I picked up a bunch of the passport covers for $.50 each at mine! Thanks!
  15. I used akaDora for the titles (downloaded for free from dafont.com I believe)... and for the main words I used Copperplate Gothic Light. Quote: Originally Posted by BeachBride10 Nice job! What font did you use for your title words and for the other main words?
  16. Sent my DIY Pocketfold invites out about 2 weeks ago and wanted to post some pictures. I "borrowed" a ton of ideas from other brides on the board, I got a lot of the wording from Sandra, and just wanted to thank everyone for posting their stuff! These wouldn't have turned out so great without this board. Got the pocketfolds and the 2 side insert cards from Cards & Pockets. The main invite card, rsvp card, envelopes and eyelet seal on the front were from the Martha Stewart eyelet collection that I bought from Big Lots for $2/pack last summer. I printed everything out at home which saved a lot of money. All in all the invites cost about $3 each (not including postage).
  17. Just placed an order for my FI's suit- chose the $99 in Beige Linen. Ended up going to a tailor to get him measured. Can't wait to see it!
  18. I just mentioned this in another post, but Target currently has travel size packs of Tylenol and Aleve for $.48 each. Each box has 3 packets with 2 pills in each.
  19. When I went down for my site visit, Claudia told me she would need a list of names of everyone attending and their travel confirmation numbers about 3 weeks before the wedding. From there, she would be able to try and get everyone rooms in the same general area, and would be able to make reservations for a rehearsal/welcome dinner. We will have between 25-30 guests and she said the restaurant options would be a buffet or late (9pm) seating at the Brazilian restaurant. 20. Such a great idea! I was debating whether or not to personalize my mugs and this is the perfect solution
  21. Just a heads up- went to 2 Targets today in Pittsburgh and both had the travel size Tylenol and Aleve (3 packs of 2 tablets per box) on sale for $.48. They are regularly $.99 each. Perfect for my OOT bags!
  22. Thanks! I'm having my bachelorette party in NYC and have this on my list of places to go when I'm there... I really want to add these to my OOT bags.
  23. I gave my photographer the choice between 1 night at the Palace or 2 at the Beach and they chose the Beach. 2 nights at the Beach was actually cheaper than 1 night at the Palace, so it worked out well for me! I emailed Claudia to ask if it would be okay to have a "guest" photograph the wedding and she said since they were staying 2 nights it would be fine.
  24. Thanks for the heads up!! Picked up a bunch of Cocktails for Dummies and Spanish for Dummies at my Target tonight! They're weren't marked on sale, but rang up for $.50. I still need a few more so I'll be checking out the other Targets in the area too.
