I know I have seen beach themed necklaces (starfish, sandollar) in silver. If you wanted to do something instead of give something I am sure there are some great tours. I am giving necklaces and am bringing them with me and giving them out the morning of. And the guys are getting cigar cases and cutters (we are going to cuba)

Hi there, I have to agree with Billybride. WOW what a lucky guy to get such a wise woman. I too have been in a long relationship, and thru the years we have had many issues arise money being one of them. Since most of us are not filthy rich we probably have all or are going to have an argument about it. Our marriages/relationships are based on so much more. Communication is the key. Without any relationship will fail and when day to day life seems to take over we get sucked under without every realizing it. A lot of us have also come together with some how is sooooo different from where we started but it does not have to get in the way. Instead of clashing about things try complementing each other on things and I mean in general (personality wise). At times I am the cheap one..... example I tend to save money where I can. I am always looking for the deals I hate paying full price for anything. He on the other hand is like if you see it, want it , we can afford it , buy it. If it is not on sale I will wait or look for a cheaper price somewhere else. Needless to say his attitude is working fab for the wedding LOL. If you find a way to always work together you will stay together. My last word of advice...... If something is worth having, it is worth working for. Anything that comes to easy is usually not worth the while. I know it is hard but try not to worry.

I think it would look odd. I too am for the military and think there is nothing finer than when you see someone in full dress uniform (especially a man, my knees go weak, psst don't tell FI) but because not everyone will be in uniform I would ask that they refrain.

Since you are canadian I would look at Cuba there are really nice resorts there that are affordable. We are going and were able to get a package deal for our guests for $1100. But I do know the prices have started to climb again.

Hi ladies I am having a hard time finding a dress. I think I found one but am not sure. My MOH says I am putting to much pressure on myself and that is why I can't decide. I have tried on so many. I liked most, you know some more than others. But none has scream "I am the one", and I was kinda hoping for that to happen. Am I expecting to much? Hi girls I don't think I have posted on this thread but if I did then consider this an update. We are getting married at the SLS in Cuba on November 16th 2009. Yup, very excited. So far we have booked and confirmed the date (hate to change the original). We bought FI suit (not shirt or tie yet) and the junior usher and ring bearer's suits and shirts (alteration still needed). I think I have my dress (not convinced yet). We are picking the invitations tomorrow. I gave MOH free reign with the dress choice (i picked the color and told her to find what she liked best). Started with OOT bag purchases (candy), and wedding favors (bubbles, and fans for the ladies), oh and ribbon lots of ribbon! And last but not least I booked my Boudoir session (can't wait, I hate keeping secrets from FI and can't help but grin like a cheshire cat that swallowed the canary every time I look at him). I feel like I have not only a secret but a naughty one at that! I am very excited about it. It is not something he would suspect of me. I am at best very self-conscious (like most) 6 months and 2 weeks to go 8 people booked

When do you get to bring it home? __________________ I couldn't bring it home! I would be to tempted to keep putting it on would get nothing done! Yes that would be me.... the doorbell would ring and I would not hear because i would be vacuuming or something and my neighbor would walk in and find me doing it in my wedding dress! Yup next stop, loony bin! At least I will match the jacket they put on me! HAHAHA So needless to say mom is keeping it!

I don't think you are being selfish either. It is her that is being selfish. I know that something like this can really bring you down. My best friend also decline to go this is the oldest friend I had and she said she would not be able to go unless she got married first! Is your friend willing to to the DW? If so maybe that could be an even trade off. I think it is more important for them to be a the ceremony than the reception. My sister was a MOH for her friend in Mexico but they had the AHR in Alberta and my sister opted out. She could only afford one trip. Just remember you don't want people to come out of obligation, but because they want to be with you and help you celebrate the day. Any one else who cares? They are the ones that are missing out. Just remember to take lots of pictures to show off what a beautiful occasion it will be. A great slideshow for the AHR.

I think you should wear what will make you most beautiful, and if you like the idea of wearing a veil then go for it. Really how often to you get this opportunity. I would take the optimists point of view and say you lucky girl 3 dresses 3 veils. To be loved so much by so many you must be special. Good luck

I went and bought my FI a beautiful Linen suit at MEXX and right now they have a sale $100 off any suit, so it cost $230.00 plus tax. But I also saw some at Le Chateau and H & M I think, but did not like them as much. On the way to buy it my FI complained that he did not want a linen suit. I made him try it on and he loved the feel of it. Good Luck

Like everyone I feel for the couple. How horrible. But I do have a suggestion for them if they are reading these. I would contact TICO, after what happened with conquest they may be able to help with refunds. They insure the TAs, and since this was in no way your fault! Or does it fall under one of those stupid titles of "Act of God" kinda like a hurricane? I hope everything works out for them. Good Luck

I would have to say between $500-$1000 I need the usual hair manicure and fake nails as I don't have my own (bad biter), pedicure (real bad I have bad feet), extra lotion, highlights to hide the roots, trim, eyebrows, legs, shoes, new make, fake lashes, facial, Oh and I would love to have a massage the day of! oops maybe a little more for extras ..... there is always something I have forgotten

I think you should find a dress you love and makes you feel beautiful. That is the dress you want. It's your opinion that matters most. You want to look at your pictures and see someone that is happy and confident. Thats why you have to love what your wearing and how you look in it. It is you that is going to wear it and have to live with it. Take what others say with a grain of salt, It is your vision of that day that matters not theirs, and they simply misunderstand what your dreams and hopes for the day are. It's normal. I think in a way it is a reality check. You know make sure it's everything you remembered it to be. I know I went in to look at a dress I want twice just to make sure before I called in the gang (mom and sisters) to approve. And the fitting are so far away!

Hi you poor thing to have to deal with this stuff now totally sucks. I can really empathize with you. I know what you are going thru and maybe even where you headed. I too had an inferring ex-wife. She really was a spawn of the devil. OOOOOOOh the stories I could tell! But that is another forum! HAHAHA My advise to you is this......... still down with your FI and have a serious talk about his ex-wife and the wedding. When discussing his ex you guys need to find a way to tell her that although you would never deny the child anything, you would like to be consulted before any extra expenses are incurred. I would check with your insurance company they probably would cover your portion of the expenses. But you also need to express that next time you what to be advised before hand and also to be included in any decision making. I am not sure but I do not think you are liable for extra expenses after the child support unless specified by a court order. But again who would deny a child something he really needed. But I say this because we went thru my FI's child getting extra dental (cosmetic type stuff done, completely unnecessary) and billing us. When we questioned the dentist he told us that his ex asked for it. Since our benefits did not cover it and it was not medically required we did not have to pay. She tried pulling this in many different ways. As far as the wedding goes if you want to do it sooner rather than later then I suggest you dig your heels in! I say this because there was always some money excuse that always came up. So I ended up waiting almost 22 years!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make that mistake. But what I do suggest to you is to reconsider other things. Maybe change the location or star rating. Remember Mexico has a lot of issues right now. And there are a number of other location you could look at that are just beautiful and maybe more cost efficient. You still have time. Talk to a TA and ask them about the most cost efficient place and the requirements. Go into a travel agency and pick-up all the book and look thru them for your prospective dates. A lot of resorts do wedding but are not in a special wedding booklet. You may be surprised. It will also give you and idea about the cost for the trip. Good Luck I hope everything works out for you

We choose a destination wedding because of a number of reasons. We went to visit before and loved the country. Everyone is extremely nice, and very family oriented. I did not want to have to pay for a huge wedding reception for people I hardly know or see, and we also felt that doing it this way would result in like a week long celebration. Everyone is bound to have a good time. Who doesn't when they go away on vacation? we also do not need anything so we do not expect to receive any gifts. Our gift is that they are there. People who really want to come will be there, and they are most important. We feel that this will give everyone extra special memories, from beginning to end. An adventure for us all to enjoy together!

This is your day, so I say follow your heart and dreams. God willing you will only do it once so make as much of your dream come true as you can. But remember your dream may not be that of another's. For whatever reason the people you invite may or may not go but you can little about their decision. If there are some special people that are must haves maybe you can help them out financially if that is their problem. But you cannot control everything so control what you can. And try not to worry about what you can't control. Good luck I am going thru pretty much the same thing. So I can understand how difficult it can be at times not to get down because some people wont be there.

I too was thinking of getting my TA a gift. She has done an outstanding job. Being on top of things when others were slacking. She has provided exceptional service. I am going to get her a bottle of wine. Lord knows after dealing with me and my family she probably needs it!!!
