  1. I like Kona Mountain Bikes. If you can afford it, go for the full suspension: definitely worth it! I did not get it for my current bike, was not sure I'd be able to bike again after my knee surgery, but I can and am now wanting to buy a second Kona with suspension. Kona makes women-specific models too, which is great because it suits our body frames better.
  2. I tried to look at this question as if it was happening to me. In all honesty, if a friend asked me to be a BM I would feel honoured. But then, if presented with a contract, I would feel like she didn't trust me. I'm not sure I would want to stay friends with her... I would definitely have a chat with her to understand where she was coming from, and let her know that by accepting to be in her wedding party I've inherently accepted to pay my dress and everything else (because traditionally, this is what wedding party members do). If at this point I felt our friendship was worth keeping AND I still wanted to be her BM (2 big "ifs" in my mind), I would let her know that I would rather not sign the contract AND pay for my own expenses. So, in other words, presenting your wedding party with a contract may cost you some friendships, I'm afraid. You have to decide if that is a risk you are willing to take. I hope it all works out in the end! Chantal

As of today, there is no plans to help the people they have left stranded and on their own to find their own transportation/accomodations. I'm glad though, because this means the tour companies and airlines won't have any reason to extend their travel ban further, thus allowing my guests to travel as anticipated without scrambling as we had to do!

  5. Wow have I been delinquent in posting my progress! So 5 lbs left to lose, and 30 days to lose it in... I hope it's do-able! I've been doing something for 5-6 days a week for the last 2 months: circuit training, power yoga or running on the treadmill. I like the diversity! I'm so excited to fit in my wardrobe again, I plan on keeping this up after the wedding (well, maybe 3-4 days a week instead of 5-6).

So frustrating that they seem to lack consistency, with this and with prices for certain add-ons. I'm getting really frustrated :-(
  7. I included both Canadian/UK and US spelling to make sure everyone picks up this thread with a search :-) This website was suggested by my wedding coordinator and I must say I LOVE it!!! We got the beach-themed wine charms and place card holders (that can serve as photo holder back home!) as our favours. Wedding Favors, Bridal Shower Favors, Party Favors by Beau-coup Chantal
  8. I'm so excited I found exactly what I was looking for: red mini paper lanterns on a string! There are 10 per string, so I bought 4 packs. They come collapsed with some assembly required, but that makes transportation so much easier :-) Here is the web site: www.lunabazaar.com I'm very excited! AND these will be reusable, I can decorate my basement to create additional ambiance upon our return :-) Chantal

Same here! Transat cancelled to June 25th, and Sunquest as well so we lost our package with our upgraded room that we booked back in December. We were supposed to fly out on June 20th. So now we're going to the US first with US Airways, then to Mexico. On June 21st. And booked hotel separate (economy class room as apparently all the upgraded rooms are taken up which I don't understand if everyone is cancelling). Anyhoo, fixed for now!

  11. I'm sure we all want to look our best during our weddingmoon/wedding week! We are working out, watching what we eat, and hoping to be in tip top shape. As a consequence of having some success in my weight loss endeavour, I've been developing an obsession with buying binkinis: I had 2 useable ones before our engagement (I had to throw away 1). I had bought 3 from Blue Glue Bikini Swimwear Canada (really cute ones!) 1 month ago, and decided I needed more. Just ordered another 3 + a monokini on the Victoria's Secret website. HELP!!! I need to know I'm not alone in this obsession...
  12. Went out for beer and wings instead of exercising! And that after ordering 3 bikinis and 1 monokini from Victoria's Secret! Yikes... Back on track tomorrow :-)
  13. Wow, we might have the record for the shortest time! We got engaged 5 months after we started dating, and our wedding day will be the first year anniversary of when we met. I've previously been married, and shied away from any commitment until I met the man who is perfect for me. We knew it within the first 2 weeks of dating. We are both in our mid-30's and know exactly what we are looking for - and we've finally found it!!! Chantal

Now this was before the swine flu pandemic so it had no role on the price. Out of curiosity, how much are your TA'S quotes My guests will definately not want to attend at close to $3000 a person..... I'm so confused...... That is a lot! We're in Toronto, and got our guests a group rate of $1800 for one week. Shouldn't be that much more expensive for you in Montréal!!! Chantal

Trying to book reception location myself for wedding on June 29th: apparently they cannot confirm your location until 3 weeks prior to the wedding. We've been asked to provide our first, second and third choices. Thus, it would be impossible to confirm the location 1 year ahead of time. There are many great locations so I'm sure everyone will be happy in the end :-) Also, Mother Nature may not cooperate and you may be moved indoors at the last minute, so there really is no point stressing about it too much in advance!
  16. This is the "Golden menu" I was sent just last week, which is quite different from the one posted in the 2009 Guide. Still waiting to hear back from someone... GOLDEN MENU[1].pdf
  17. I've hired Lincoln and Lori for our wedding, I love their work! We are leaving June 21st, and I've started packing and counting down the days :-) I'm excited to see what beautiful pictures they will take of us!! Chantal
  18. So confused... The "Golden Menu" on page 20 of the PDF Wedding Guide for Dreams Tulum is the same as what SunBride has posted on page 1. BUT completely different from what the coordinator sent me! I've sent her an email to clarify... I really prefer the one in the Guide.
  19. This question is directed to the brides that have just come back... We have the Ultimate package, which comes with the gold menu for 20 guests. Our wedding coordinator just sent us the menu to chose from, and it is different from what SunBride posted on the first page. I honestly prefer the one posted here and am hoping this was a mistake on behalf of the wedding coordinator! Anyone ordered a gold menu lately, and if so, was it different from what SunBride posted? Thanks!!
  20. Ordered mine in December and it came in the last week of April. Really depends on which designer you order from. A good friend of mine found a perfect fit and bought it straight off the rack for a great price (1/2 the original cost) so there are ways of getting one fast as well. Good luck!!!
  21. I tried my dress on Saturday for the first time and I love it!!! Initially I was torn between this one and Maggie Sottero's Ireland, but in the end I don't regret my choice at all. It was kind of funny, another bride was trying on a really puffy dress. When I came out of my dressing room, she and her party couldn't stop staring at my. Within 10 minutes, she walks out with the same one, and ended up buying it :-) Here is my first attempt at posting photos on this site, hope it works...
  22. Hi girls, thanks for your support! Our travel agent at Luxe booked us a room at the resort, and I just bought our flights. I need to fly to the US THEN to Mexico, as no Canadian airlines are going directly to Mexico. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my guests flying on Transat flights on June 26th will not have their flights cancelled. So all fixed for Nathan and I, and hoping it won't affect our guests who are all leaving on June 26th and 27th!!! Chantal
  23. Does anyone know if the menus have changed? We were sent our list for the gold menu and it is completely different from what SunBride has posted on the first page...
  24. So I finally spoke to my TA: it's SUNQUEST that cancelled, not Transat. That means we lost our room and our flight... So we had booked in December specifically to ensure that we had an upgraded room: now we have no room. The irony is that all our guests have flights and rooms, just not us! Apparently all the upgraded rooms are taken now, so we'll end up with the economy suite for our wedding and honeymoon. If we can even get a room there. AND we can't fly down with our guests, because we need to be in Mexico three full business days before the wedding, so we NEED to be there by June 23rd at the latest. Things just went from "OK, we can cope with this" to "oh crap, NOW what"
