  3. Mine is all silk and I want to donate it... So I don't want to ruin it ! I got a cheap one that will probably not suffer from the TTD, so I can actually even donate the two of them !! Brides Against Breast Cancer http://makingmemories.org/trash_the_dress.html
  4. Lol that's so funny ! My dad was SO OK with not wearing a suit ! My mom took him to shop right away, as soon as they knew (in November... to find linen !!) and the best - they DID find linen. Sorry don't know of a thread though. But that should be quite similar to FI / GM, no ?

I use Lame encoder as part of a ripping pack I use to convert CDs (.wav files) to high quality .mp3 files, and it would convert mp4 or AAC (file formats used for itunes) to .mp3 easily, but it takes a bit of computer savvy. I did a quick online search and I did find this: Convert iTunes to MP3 - iTunes converter, iTunes to MP3 BUT... I don't know ANYTHING about this software. It may be malicious, it may be completely harmless, I have no idea. But something LIKE this is your best bet. If you have some computer nerd friends, they can definitely help you find a viable solution, but unfortunately just using itunes won't work. Apple wants you to keep the file in its proprietary format, and won't allow any conversions Actually, you can convert mp4 to mp3 quite easily from iTunes. You need to select "mp3" as the default import format of the songs. Then, you right click on the songs you want to convert and click the option "convert to mp3". Some songs had a few seconds of dead air so playing it in a reception type setting where people are dancing it would be really noticeable. Hey Beachbride08 I hope you're still around !! How do you edit the start and stop times of songs in iTunes ? Thanks ! Ayita

  10. Well... it's all in the attitude really. Also all in the communication and the dynamics of your relationship. Long time ago I made peace with the fact that men and women don't want the same in life ! And this is so well illustrated by DH and I : he likes video games and motorcycles, I like shopping and nice restaurants... Well, we are a bit in the same situation than you... DH can only think about getting his motorcyle. And I also am the one who does the books, haha. Well we talked extensively about it. He agreed to postpone the BIKE purchase until after the wedding. Which means basically, we return on the 12th and he gets it on the 13th ! Which is already a huge concession on his part. The thing is - I know it's SO important to him - as important to him than getting a great wedding is important to me. Well, HE could not care less about this part - he says, as long as we get music and booze... And of course I could not care less about his motorcycle. But isn't marriage all about what makes the other happy ? I mean, I'm going through so much stress with all this planning, and he's really supportive and eating a lot of crap ! lol. So I think I should be supportive of what HE really wants, too. And the one thing I don't want is him getting hurt on his bike ! So in order to help him being patient, and sponsor his safety, last week I got him a jacket. Then he got gloves... well he's starting from scratch so he needs to get everything !! He still needs helmet (like 500$), boots (another 500$) and jeans with protections inside. Anyway, I know it's a lot of money anmd not the best timing, but I don't want him to be resentful - like, I would agree to spend 20,000$+ on the wedding and not spend the 2,000$ on his gear, where HE does not care too much about the wedding and I don't care about the bike ? I just feel that would not be the right foundation for our marriage... Now of course, if he would get his bike NOW (and try to hide it from me to boot) I would be really, really mad...
  11. LEAVING IN 3 WEEKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I still don't manage not to stress about the guests ! I stress about the guests that have not booked yet... even though the rooms having been released, they can now find better deals on the internet !! ... and I stress about the guests that have booked, because they could have got better prices if they had waited until now !! Pff. How do you get NOT to stress ? Well yes of course, but without alcohol ?
  12. If you're ready to take classes, I think the best for this is Swing !! West Coast or East coast I don't think it makes a difference, but this song has this little rhythm to it, I can perfectly picture swing on this.

They also have it fully paved of diamonds -also beautiful but the one I got I love already. The navigation in the site is a bit strange. You need to click on the video, it will show you options and then you can select "see the collection". Note for the girls that like starfish, they have a starfish collection, too. They have an incredible rind, white gold, with the starfish all paved of diamonds, and the "ring" itself is like a chain... you know the ones hat hold the soldiers id ? The most stunning rings are in the collection "je le veux". The price is stunning, too ;D You need to create an account to shop online

  15. So I've stolen the idea of the cute little string guys from somebody else on this board, redesigned them for the content of my kit, and voila ! For the OOT bags, a very simple template. On this picture I did not perforate or ribbon them up yet. Hint 1 : on the ifrst page there are several layers : the picture, a semi-transparent rectangle to fade it away, the table (for the gridlines) and the text. Everything is stacked on top of each other. To access and modify stuff, you have to send the top layer to the back until your reach the one you want. Hint 2: once you finish on ppt, save the file, then "save as" and chose "pdf" format. Then to print the pdf file, select "print as image" and "borderless", so that each image is perfectly aligned with the other on the back of it... In order for the files to be small enough for the download, I only left one picture of each... I cannot even upload the pdf file. The idea is to make one full page of each little guy (my template had 10 pages total) so that you can cut little squares with one different guy on each side. You just have to copy paste... or make your own guys I also attach the original pdf file, I think the person had made some stickers with all six guys and put them on the pouches. It's a special day for us and we really wanted to do our wedding on this date but it's not working out that way, we would wait til next year but now he is leaving for the army for at least a year and won't be back for that date next year so we are doing the legal thing on our date and the wedding for everyone when he gets back. We are not telling anyone so when we do our DW in Jamaica next year it will be special for everyone and it will be our "real" wedding. We decided we are just bringing 2 people with us, because we need 2 wittnesses to sign the marriage cert. We don't want anyone to know because then everyone will make a big deal about why they weren't there and we don't want it to turn into some huge thing. FI is bringing his best friend and I asked my best friend to come with but we didn't tell them what we are doing, just that we need them to come with us for the evening. FI's bf just said cool, no prob. My bf said she needs to know what we are doing so she can ask her husband if it is ok. Um....What? Now her husband is calling me saying I need to tell him what is going on or he won't let her go. LET her? She is a grown woman! WTF? I'm not even telling my family, why would I tell him? And excuse me but since when does a grown woman need permission from her husband to leave the house for a couple hours. I understand that they don't see each other much but come on, it's one night out of your life, get over it, she already told me they weren't doing anything that night so it's not like I am interrupting plans that they have. I really want her to be there but I'm ready to just say f*ck it and bring another one of FI's friends. Wow. I do not want to comment on how this couple functions - obviously not my style, but I guess that we find everything in the world. Now coming back to you, i would be worried that if he "lets" her go anyway, without knowing in advance, she might not be able to keep the secret... or, can you trust her to lie to her husband ? So I think you should give more thoughts about insisting on having her...
  17. You can allso check on indie bride forum. There is a whole thread about non traditional rings. Some have wooden ones, plastic ones, etc
  18. You look amazing ! #1 as well. I don't know if it's the pic, or the size, but your shapes look stunning in the first one.
  19. I've not hear about this and to the contrary, pearls have a long tradition in weddings... they were actuallly used as the engagement "gem" in the past centuries... A few links (some of them are from people who sell pearls, however.... does not mean the content is less accurate as I find them in different languages and they all say the same thing) : In English Pearls and Weddings In French perles - mythes des perles - informations et guide sur les perles - Perles.tv The final say is to the bride and groom - as very well said here : Celebration Advisor Wearing Pearls on Wedding Day
  20. To the girls who did a TTD (or if you already know what you're gonna do) : I'm often amazed as to how well your hair is done on your TTD shoots... did you have a professional do your hair for this, too ? Or did most of you do it yourself ? Same question for make-up... I have this concern because i know I can do the make-up myself, but my hair is a whole another story...

My friend never seemed to understand what I wanted and I felt bad for all the changes but at the same time I wanted to scream because they were not getting done. In addition, when I went to print them out at Kinko's they only do it in a plain card stock with a sort of glossy finish, I wanted more of a traditional invitation paper, you know, maybe textured with a "softer" finish.. so I ended up buying the paper and printing them myself. My poor FI just didn't know how to handle me this weekend. Now I am sure the font is too small for my grandma to read and I don't dare ask my friend to change it again becuase he might just kill me! I also ordered free magnets from visaprint to put in the with STD cards. Do you think that is overkill? I was thinking that since they were free, why not, then maybe I wouldn't worry so much about people tossing the card aside and forgetting about it.... So here they are, Sorry if the picture size is too big or too small, this is my first time uploading a picture on this site. First thing - the easiest to fix : you can bring your own paper at Kinko's - on top of that they will only charge you for half charge, if you bring your own. We went to Kinko with our paper and it worked out so well ! So go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and order online whatever it is you like, and go for it. Second - you STD looks awesome If you don't want to commit on a color, did you try the watermark ? Like, select a nice pic of a beach or landscape you like, and make it very shallow ? If you work with office 07, it's so easy : you select the picture, go to picture tools, recolor (on the left hand side) and select watermark (second row, third one). One photoshop I'm sure it's as easy. That way you keep a nice landscaping background, but with natural colors - and you can pick your color later on.
  24. Helllo, I've made my own OOT bag tags, very simple - front with monogram, back with name and small thank you note. All you need to do is cut them in square (with square puncher) or round and punch a hole. I will post a template tonight (not at home right now). Here's a pic :
