  1. We are doing the Ultimate package. We are actually using the carribean trio for our welcome dinner the night before our wedding. I have not heard any samples, but honestly I have not asked either. I am using the resort violinist for our ceremony. Someone on here said he has a sample on youtube. I am going to double check with Cecilia that they still use the same guy, I hope so b/c the sample I heard on youtube was pretty nice. think his name is Carlos Molnar. I am using the package video for the ceremony, but am not using the resort photography, we are using Moments That Matter. There is a thread about them on here. We are also using an outside vendor for the cocktail hour and reception music, his name is DJ Bob.

  3. Thank you! I just received an email from Cecilia about the flowers and I'm beside myself!! 1st she didn't even include any quotes for the centerpieces!! Next, my Matron of Honors bouquet is supposed to be a small bouquet of white roses...which she already gave me a quote for $60 and now she gives me a quote for the matron of honor bouquet at $70 with each rose a different color!!! seriously...I don't have the patience for this right now. Was I not clear about it being all white and why is it $10 dollars more now? What she wrote about my bouquet doesn't even make sense. So now I have to write ANOTHER email to her to clear all this up again when I'm thinking it will probably get messed up when I'm there anyway. I'm really trying not to be complicated with my flowers, but OMG apparently I have not been clear. I wish I could just go to a florist when I get there and pick out my flowers myself...this is just getting crazy.
  4. you need receipts to go through customs? I'm bringing down a bunch of stuff for the OOT bags...do I need the receipts
  5. Hi mlynnea - The WC will lock in 2009 wedding package rates for you if you put your 1st deposit down now. We put our deposit down in August 2008 for July 2009 wedding and this is what she did for us. As far as accommodations and airfare...we booked flights on our own thru JetBlue around Jan/Feb and then with the swine flu the prices went down so we got a price adjustment last month. I think if you book your accommodations with a travel agent and take out the insurance you can lock in the current rates for the time you will be staying there. Then if the rates go up, yours will not...but if the rates go down over the months, then you can get the lower rates. I think that is how our TA explained it. I think (not positive)up until the end of April is the "high season" there, so prices will be the worst. Also, I know that some our guests ended up getting really good deals(air and hotel) through Expedia and Orbitz recently. __________________________________________________ _______________________ In addition, has anyone had any trouble setting up the flowers with Cecilia? Honestly, I'm a bit confused as to what I want the centerpieces to be and my bouquet, but I'm having some difficulty getting quotes from her. Maybe it's the florist they work with and not her, but it's getting frustrating. Or maybe it's that it's getting so close and I'm getting antsy!!!!!! :-) For those already married there - did you have a buffet or sit down dinner for the reception? We are only having 27 people but I think I want the buffet. If you have the sit down dinner everyone has to eat the same thing, at least that's how I understood what Cecilia told me. That just doesn't seem right though.
  6. I'm leaving 2 weeks from yesterday and I am a teacher also! I know what you mean about having some time off from work before leaving to get everything done. I have so many lists!!!! I have a list for the welcome bags, a list for wedding stuff to still do, a list of non wedding stuff, a packing list...etc! I think I need to consolidate all my lists. I tell ya, I'm a danger on the road these days. I easily get zoned out thinking about my lists and have been missing turns and exits! :-)
  7. My TA with destinationweddings.com has been TERRIBLE! What a waste of time!
  8. I like Brad Paisley "She's Everything" or "I thought I loved you then" I haven't decided yet. YouTube - Brad Paisley - She's Everything YouTube - I Thought I Loved You Then .. Brad Paisley
  9. Add me the list...I was concerned about the weather also. My reception dinner will be in an air conditioned restaurant. The cocktail hour will be on the terrace, but I didn't want to risk it with the rest of the reception.
  10. We are getting legally married when we get home. I am not keeping it a secret from our guests, but not intentionally telling them either. If they ask, we tell them the truth. I don't understand all this about guests being upset b/c it's not legal. I have delt with it a bit with my FMIL. She actually referred to my mexico ceremony as a "Faux ceremony" in an email to me. She also said "Well, don't tell your brother that it's not legal b/c he's travelling all that way (ny to mx)..." This makes me so angry! Our wedding in mexico IS the real deal for us. It is going to be our anniversary date, it's when my father walks me down the isle, it's when we say our vows, it's the celebration with family and friends afterward,etc... The legal part is just a technicality for us. I think of it this way...of all the local weddings I've been to over the years, if the couple never got their marriage license before the ceremony it would not have been any less real to me. So what's the difference? Bottom line: The wedding in mexico is REAL to us. Why does whether it's legal or not even matter? A wedding ceremony is SO MUCH MORE than just the legalities.
  11. Welcome! I'm getting married at Secrets on July 11th. How many people are you having?
  12. We have moments that matter doing our photos also. They seem great and are afordable. I didn't LOVE the photos I've seen from the resort photographer and didn't want to risk it.
  13. So I thought of a few more things... what I still need to do: -figure out all the music (yikes!) -write the welcome letter -book any excursions -choose menu -choose flowers -OOT bags -get FI his suit -gifts for MoH and BM -place cards/ table numbers for reception -favors -chair bows (?) -centerpieces for reception tables (?) -get my dress fitted -find pictures of how I want my hair -decide what jewelery I'm wearing - book the spa appts. - welcome dinner dress I wish I was checking more things off rather than adding to it!
  14. I have MTM booked for my wedding in July. I saw a post on here about them coving the resorts outside vendor fees if you go with the full day package. This made me curious since I have the full day package, but when I checked with them about this they said they did that in the beginning and have sinced stopped. So for anyone booking them now the outside vendor fees are not included.
  15. beach2009 - we are having the ceremony at 6pm. Cecilia had said this was a good time and that we would still have plenty of sunlight. Also, people are usually starting to get ready for dinner at that time so we would have a bit more privacy. I was concerned about the heat as well...we were there last July and it was HOT during the day. There is a nice breeze off of the water though. We are not doing a TTD session, so we didn't have to consider time for that.

  17. Welcome! I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma Beach also!

We heard nothing but raves from our guests on his music selection. I would highly recommend him!!! Thanks for this! It always feels good to hear nice reviews...calms the nerves a bit. I feel confident that he will not disappoint.
  19. I think I will be using DJ Bob also...anymore recent reviews? He is by far the most affordable and I don't need any bells and whistles. Just someone to play the music I want and announce a few dances.
  20. Cancuntransfers.com $82 for a private transfer for us from CUN airport to Secrets Maroma Beach and back.
