I'm getting married July 11, 2009 at Secrets Maroma Beach. What I've done so far: -passports -site visit -booked location -created wedding website -travel agent -paid for wedding package -booked rooms and flights -sent out std's awhile ago -booked outside photography -bought my dress/veil/shoes -bought our wedding bands -set the time table for the wedding day -ordered personalized stamps for invites(zazzle.com) what I'm doing this weekend: -mailing out invites -booking outside DJ -order a gift I'm giving my dad what I still need to do: -figure out all the music (yikes!) -write the welcome letter -book any excursions -choose menu -choose flowers -OOT bags -get FI his suit -gifts for MoH and BM -place cards/ table numbers for reception -favors -chair bows (?) -centerpieces for reception tables (?) -get my dress fitted -find pictures of how I want my hair -decide what jewlery I'm wearing I'm sure I'll think of other stuff... OMG only 4 months to go!

Hi Nicole, If it was up to me alone it would be smaller than it is turning out to be. I think we will probably be at around 30-35 people. I am booking delSol photography. Their pics are beautiful! Take a look at their thread, if you haven't already.

Welcome! I'm also getting married at SMB in July 2009. So far I think 2 people on here have been married there...now I know of one in may, june and another in July!

Yeah, that would make sense...to post your review in the wedding REVIEW section! lol I always click right on the riviera maya section and didn't even notice the review section. Hope Jody notices it. :-) I know that was just her short review in the other thread. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe it was another forum that I noticed earlier dates for weddings there. Can't wait for pictures!

Simistar - I know...I've posted there about the planning part. Thanks for the link though. Don't you think there should be a new one for reviews AFTER you get married there. I think, for anyone looking through threads for information, that the other one is SOOO long and planning tips and actual wedding reviews would be all mixed together. I thought that I noticed awhile ago that some ladies should have already been married there by now, but I still have not heard anything. I'm just really curious as I'm sure you are as well.

El Dorado Royale has a nice chapel onsite. It was just too big for us and they have many weddings per day. But the chapel is really nice and air conditioned.

We visited Secrets Capri in July and loved it. The only thing that made me nervous was the ballroom where the reception would be if it possibly rained. It was old and smelled musty. It was really gross and didn't match the rest of the resort AT ALL. Utimately we decided on Secrets Maroma Beach.

We have also decided to get married at home and have a symbolic ceremony in maroma beach. We went back and forth with it for awhile before deciding. I was worried that it wouldn't be as exciting getting married there if we know that we are technically married already. What do you think? Also, I am trying to get a copy of the script for the symbolic ceremony at Secrets. I'm just curious as to what will be said. Am I being a bit crazy with that request?
